The views are inspiring, the house very nice and clean and the kitchen supplied with more than I have at home. The kids didn't want to leave (none of us did) - there were games, beach stuff, and the lapping water to play in (the reef keeps it calm) and the adults were sooooo relaxed. In the master bedroom we kept the doors opened to the living room & ocean views - and woke up to that sunrise! Plus the bedroom windows let in the breeze at bed level - almost like sleeping outside. The owners gave great advice: to stop at the farm near the airport (and the overlook to Kalaupapa) to stock up on veggies. It is a treat just to go there. We came from Maui & brought Costco meat that we froze. The boat ride over was great, but going back in the afternoon was an adventure itself....wet. Of course you can fly, but then forget the meat. There are a couple adequate markets in Kanuakakai, plus a street fair on Saturdays for veggies, but not the quality of that organic farm. We drove to the end of the road going east to Halawa. Beautiful going and back. Wish we'd taken a picnic lunch. Lots of beaches along the way, many surrounded by "fish pond" ancient walls - and one at the end but there the ocean is rough. Had our big evening out at the old Molokai Hotel. Went the night the locals come to sing and hula. Molokai is a place to unwind and relax. Yet all the watersports are there if you want, and hiking galore. We'd go back in a heartbeat.
