Historic 1925 Florida beach house and carriage house now divided into six seaside apartments. Enjoy our unique location in a beautiful island setting. We offer many sizes to suite your needs or you can book more than one unit to accommodate a larger group up to 24 guests (one week minimum for big family reunions etc.). Rent the 2 + bedroom right on the water that sleeps 4 plus 4 more in a pinch on the trundle beds on the sleeping porch (one week minimum, please) or the romantic one bedroom upstairs with French doors and the bedroom overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, or the 2 bedroom family size unit overlooking the Bay. Old Florida wonderfully kept by my grandparents who never grew tired of sitting out on the deck in the evening to watch a deep red sun, set into the Gulf of Mexico. You can't get any closer to the water. Walk out your door and you're on the beach. Kids love it. And Disney is an hour and a half drive.
We're located in "The Narrows," the most beautiful spot on the 12 mile string of barrier islands off the coast of Tampa Bay between Clearwater and St. Petersburg. Most of our neighbors live in new million dollar homes. True island setting. Boca Ciega Bay and the yachts going up and down the Intracoastal boat channel are out your door and right across the street.
Plenty to do on a vacation. Bring your tackle and do some fishing on the piers in the area or rent a boat or jet-ski in town. Home of Crabby Bills, the best seafood restaurant on the Sun Coast with the catch brought straight in from the fishing boats. Sit with the locals, family style, at a large picnic table and try a plate of stone crabs. Or visit Jimmy Iguanas waterfront bar for some night life and dancing to steel drums. Or just relax and go beachcombing in the early morning tides. Kids go shelling with mask and snorkel and dive for sand dollars and cockle shells at low tide out on our shallow sandbar, an easy wade 50 foot off the beach. The Town claims this is Florida's safest beach on its entry monuments. We are private and on the quite side, ideal for a simple, relaxing get-away.
Many renovations to make your stay a comfortable one. Premium pillow-top beds, traditional wicker furniture, full kitchens, wireless internet, DVD players. History buffs will love the 100 year old red heart pine floors in #6, and extra large original float glass windows that have managed to weather 82 years of hurricanes. Lots to see and explore. Just bring your towel (or we give you a big thirsty one by Ralph Lauren as a gift in the Fall if you stay a week or more).
Just awarded one of the highest scores on the beach by the Superior Small Lodging Program. Very clean and nicely kept by our off site manager, Kathie, herself a resident of the island for many, many years. One of the last old places left on this stretch of the beach.
The four units in the large house and two units in the carriage house are arranged around a parking area like a private estate. Rent the whole place out for a special occasion if you book far enough in advance (one week minimum). It sleeps 22. Winters are busy with repeat guests so book early. Lots of inside photos on our website ( call us for the web site address) and a great view from an ultalight flight that my kids treated me to last summer. Enjoy a truly unique vacation place on the beach. Book a room in Old Florida from the summer of 1925.
