This cabin was beautiful, the kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable, and the pool area was private and clean. Large fenced yard and great deck with a solid picnic table is great place to sit and watch the sunset. The property gives you the feeling of privacy and it is quiet and very peaceful. Plus it is close to beaches and hiking trails. This place was more beautiful than the pictures show and Karen was very friendly and helpful. We were very sad to leave because we had such a great time. My children loved the pool and the loft area where they had room to play. I have and will continue to highly recommend this great place!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife, 3 yr old son, and I spent 5 days 4 nights at this residence. Frankly, if there was a way we could take this house home with us, we would do so! We were so impressed with the decor and the homey feel. The only thing we felt was lacking was a hot tub. Frankly, with a high temp of 65 F in late July/Early August, we did not really try to use the pool. We would have used a hot tub if it was there. Karen is a very responsive property owner, and her price was very affordable. The property was very family friendly.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This was our second stay at the Romantic Log Home in Brookings. We brought our parents to celebrate Father's Day. It was perfect! Close to three great beaches. Private yet close to highway access. All amenities were clean, comfortable and thoughtful. There were throws (soft warm blankets) for snuggling, books to read, and the TV was new. WiFi worked great - no problems logging on. Bring a dear friend to enjoy this excellent coastal get a way!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Spent 5 days at this wonderful place - unique, relaxing, & spacious. Fantastic base for some incredible sightseeing at nearby beaches with dramatic rock formations. The owner, Karen, really cares that you have a nice experience - a very kind & friendly person. There are stereo, wi-fi and big screen amenities, but are not really necessary in this peaceful setting where one can find great contentment with a book and beautiful sunset from the deck. Highly recommended - we'll be back! Thank you, Karen!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

It's not on the beach, but this cabin getaway is a lovely option to all the beach homes that you'd pay extra for but don't get the same quaintness and quality. Very clean, big yard for our dogs, sweetly appointed and comfortable. It was a wonderful respite after spending the day at the beach, to come back to the fresh crisp air of the forest. Wonderful!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers.

...better than advertised! Beautiful, clean, quiet log home was a base for me, my wife, our 18 year old daughter and our 15 mo. old German Shepherd during mid-August. Very good location for morning, afternoon or complete day trips to the nearby beaches, the Chetko and Pistol rivers and the towns of Brookings, Gold Beach, or even Port Orford. We will be back for a longer stayRecommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We just got back from our vacation in Brookings, and we feel so fortunate to have stayed in this beautiful log home! We have two daughters (ages 10 and 12), and they absolutely LOVED the loft. They each staked out their own special reading nooks and whiled away quite a bit of time up there! To be honest, I felt a bit envious! We had lots of cozy spots to curl up on couches downstairs, though, so no complaints. :) This house made the perfect home base to explore the local beaches (our favorite was Lone Ranch beach) and various sights in the area. The beach was literally minutes away in the car, and after spending the day out at the beach, it was wonderful to come back to this home and relax. The kids enjoyed swimming in the pool on the two full days that we were there. The home was well stocked with all the amenities, and it was lovely to be completely disconnected: no TV, no Internet, and no phone. We read, we played games, and we enjoyed watching a doe stroll through the yard and up past the house with her fawn! Karen (the owner) was great, answered my e-mail questions quickly and thoroughly, and she was incredibly helpful. This is definitely a place that we would love to come back and visit again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

About the owner: I was fortunate to be able to purchase this home this Spring, after falling in love with the Oregon coast. I live in Washington state, and work as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in nursing homes. I emigrated to the US 18 years ago from the UK, and the coast and climate in this area is similar to my homeland. I feel comfortable and at home in the Pacific northwest. People are friendly and welcoming and I love the natural beauty everywhere you look. Eventually I'd like to retire to my log home in the woods, but, in the meantime, I want you to enjoy it!
Why the Owner Chose Brookings:
I chose this home because it is unique and I love the 'rustic cabin' coziness of it; together with the view at nearby House Rock it can't be beat!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Perfect for those with dogs, or cats! Fully fenced grassy large back yard, two large dog houses, lounging deck, all those smells...what more could a dog want? Upstairs there is a small kitty condo, cat scratchers and play mice, with catnip in the kitchen and a cat tray can be left out if requested. Don't leave them home, they deserve a vacation too!
