Dear Cyndi and John, Writing today a big "thank you" for letting us use your place. Thank you for everything but a few things stood out for us. -John thank you for lighting the fire for us.....it was very welcoming to come to a warm apartment. -One thing I forgot to buy from the store was sugar. Thank you for ample supply in the kitchen. -Charlie Cards were very useful. -Thank you for organizing our tickets for the "Whale Watch" and "Duck Boats". I have only one regret, that is would have loved to spend more time here!!! (Missed our opportunity to use the hot tub) God bless you both. With much Love, AlexDid you find this review helpful? Thank you so very much for making a stressful trip filled with all medical things, into something a lot less chaotic. You have a beautiful home, and are doing a very amazing job renovating it in beautiful comfort and style. What a treat to stay in a historic home that has been well loved and well preserved. Everything was great, our own hiding place, a care I didn't want to leave, neither did mom or Ginger. We'll be back! If you ever visit New Mexico look us up.Did you find this review helpful? If you are looking for somewhere to stay near Boston, stay here! It is a beautiful, quiet, safe neighbourhood, and Cyndi and John are very accomodating, friendly hosts! The suite is a perfect size for a couple! It is close to the bus stations, and small shops. It is clean, well kept, has all of the amenities that you need and has a wonderful pellet stove for those cool nights! The hot tub is great for after a long day of shopping! I highly recommend this place! Thanks again! Cory & Jen from Regina, SKRecommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Thanks for our stay. It was awesome. Something could be done about the centipedes, they were a little creepy and there were a lot of them. John good luck on your projects!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We have never had a problem with centipedes. It was probably due to the extreme heat wave and the humidity. We will make note and watch for future issues. We are glad you enjoyed your stay!

Thank you Cyndi & John for providing a safe, family friendly home for our visit to Boston.Although the weather wasn't the best,we made our own fun.Thank you for all of the maps and books of the Boston area. The charlie cards were extremely helpful too.Once we figured out the transportation schedules, everything was only a hop, skip & a jump away.Even though it was June, the pellet stove was a God-send!Got a little chilly for us! We packed as much into 1 rainy week as a family could and we appreciate all of your care to make sure we were happy. We've already recommended your home to friends.Hopefully we'll visit again & bring the sun!!!Did you find this review helpful? Who doesn't like opening the door to the backyard and hearing nothing but birds? The house is located in a very quiet neighborhood, so if you need a good rest, this is where you want to stay. We spent a very enjoyable week here, despite the cold. That pellet stove does a great job heating and the apartment keeps the heat nicely too. Cindy and John are fantastic hosts. It's clearly visible that they enjoy having people around. The apartment is very cozy and even equipped with some basic necessities like tea, oatmeal and sugar - lifesavers if you don't get around to shopping when you arrive. And to our utter joy, there's even an Italian coffeemaker! The kitchenette is a bit of a constraint if you plan on cooking, at least it was for me, in particular due to the lack of an exhaust, but for small stuff it's sufficient. Cindy has compiled a great information folder with everything you need to get around Boston: maps, bus timetables, info on the major sites - you name it, it's there and if it isn't all you have to do is ask and Cindy or John will get you what you need. Roslindale is a cute little village with all the shops you need: Fornax is a great bakery and place to eat breakfast or lunch; there's a food store or two, including a Lebanese place we liked; and a great sushi restaurant. The village center is a pleasant 20 minute walk from the house, which we did almost daily to catch the bus to the train station. Although it is easy to get in and out of downtown Boston, the whole trip can take up to 45 minutes depending on how long you have to wait for the bus and the train and where you need to be.Did you find this review helpful? We arrived here after a week spent in hotels in Washington and New York so it was lovely to arrive somewhere with more space and a relaxing ambience. We received a very warm welcome from Cyndi who showed us round a very well appointed basement apartment. We enjoyed the pellet stove which kept the place warm in the evenings. The kitchen is perhaps a little small for significant cooking but did not bother us as we were generally out exploring. Plenty of literature regarding local amenities and transport options to Boston centre. For those with a car there is plenty of parking available on the street without restriction. A short walk to Roslindale centre where there is a great bakery, wine and cheese shops amongst others. Also a few inviting restaurant options and we can report the food was excellent at Sophia's Grotto. The public transport into Boston was easy and inexpensive with a week's pass. Would certainly recommend to others and stay again if we return to the area in the future. Thank you!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This studio apartment is very comfortable, well built and nicely appointed with quality furniture, rugs, bedding. Having laundry facilities right at your fingertips was a joy after a week of travel. The hosts are very friendly and helpful with directions, train time to downtown Boston and local restaurant referrals. For the 'light' cooking we did, the kitchen was well equipped. We would definitely stay here again if our travels find us in the Boston area!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Great hospitality, informative, helpful & friendly hosts. Clean, nicely furnished apt. & great hot tub. Convenient location to public transportation & wonderful restaurants within walking distance in Rosindale. Much to see in the area-a week not long enough but we highly recommend the Fine Arts Museum, Acquarium, Public Library, Boston Commons, Freedom Trail & all it offers, rent bikes & ride the paved path along both sides of the St. Charles River, & the Duck Tour, of course. A real highlight was the Red Sox game! Friendly people everywhere to help with directions if you get lost!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. Everything we needed was there for us from internet use to coffee to passes to the Fine Arts Museum. WAY nicer than staying at a hotel, being outside of the city, talking and mingling with people who live in Boston, rather than just other tourists. The hot tub was a really nice touch after walking and sightseeing for an entire day. We used the bbq one night which was great as eating in restaurants over and over gets tiring. The owners even allowed us to use their laundry facilities and gave us a tour of their home. Very welcoming, wonderful couple. Once you figure out the subway system, getting around was quite easy. We brought home a Sicilian pizza from the local pizza place and would recommend going there - they serve pizza and Mexican - very tasty. The local market was handy for picking up bbqables and coffee cream, etc. We went to a ball game - not sure about this (price on the ticket was $12, we paid $50 each through Ace). Highly recommend the aquarium - well worth the price of admission and Imax theatre was wonderful. Altogether, had a great time and hope to return soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Cyndi and John were extremely helpful and charming hosts, we were very sorry to leave. There are a number of wonderful places to eat in Roslindale village (which was very close) and we had some of our best meals in the US here (Sophia's Grotto and the Birch Street Grill were great!). We would stay here again, it was a lovely spot, in a great neighbourhood and very reasonably priced.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, pet owners.

We have just arrived back in Australia after a wonderful five week experience staying here in Roslindale. We could not have asked for more, the apartment was fresh, clean and comfortable in a very pretty garden setting that was welcoming each evening after long days of sightseeing. The Village of Roslindale is special with many shops specialising in food and gifts. The summer farmers market is a must see with lots of fresh produce and craft unique to the village. The bus trip into down town Boston is made even more enjoyable as the bus travels through Jamaica Plains and down the Avenue of the Arts (Huntington Av.) If you are staying for as long as we did don't forget to get a monthly travel pass (Charlie Card) makes traveling on public transport very affordable. Cyndi and John are friendly and very helpful, they were the perfect hosts. We would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to friends and family and will be sure to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car.

John and Cyndi were wonderful and friendly. John picked me up at the airport late in the evening and even provided a mini-tour of Boston on our way to the house! The apartment was more than I had expected! The refrigerator and pantry had some food and coffee/tea stocked for our use at no additional charge! The pellet stove kept the room very comfortable, but did require some work to keep it cleaned and filled. However, John was more than willing to assist with this task! We drove into downtown Boston each day during our stay, but passed public transportation opportunities within a reasonable distance from the apartment. Overall this was a wonderful place for 3 adults to stay, but I do not think I would recommend a 4th adult, as the couch is really a loveseat and there are only 2 beds (1 single and 1 queen). I have already started to recommend this apartment to family and friends and will definitely consider staying here again when I find myself in the Boston area again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Hi there! I am very sorry that we had to leave so early and miss saying goodbye too. We were up at 3 and out by 4....got home by 10:30 though, and that was priceless. Yes, I did finish. My time was 3:59.23. I was hoping for something faster, but I was new to the coarse and I had some physical issues (cramping, bathroom break, forgot my inhaler so couldn't breath well...etc) I learned a lot of lessons yesterday, and will hopefully have an opportunity to come back and try again. Boy, it was fun though! I wanted to write something in your journal, but just didn't have time to sit down and comse anyting. I want you to know that we really enjoyed our stay at your home though. I hope we left things alright when we left...didn't know exactly what to do about locking the door. We were very comforatalbe. Thanks again Cyndi! Give our best to John and Christopher. I decided to stay here instead of at a hotel while in Boston and was sure glad that I did. This apartment is very well equipped for 2-3 people. The accommodations are beautiful and very comfortable. We used the pellet wood stove one night which was nice. Having free internet, a laundry room and the kitchen were all advantages over staying in a hotel. Cyndi and her husband went above and beyond to make sure that you had all that you needed while at the same time the apartment felt very private. I stayed here with my husband and two young children (2 year old and 11 month old) for two weeks while looking for an apartment. Cyndi warned us that the apartment would be a bit small for the four of us but we found it quite roomy with the open layout (we were also used to British sized apartments!). John and Cyndi were very welcoming and extremely helpful. We had arrived in Boston from overseas just a couple weeks after the student influx and had a very hard time finding an apartment. John and Cyndi kept an eye out for apartments for us and never tired of our constant nagging them for information and advice (is this a good area? where would the nearest grocery store be if we lived in this apartment? etc etc etc). We didn't have a car when we arrived but this was made less burdensome by John and Cyndi providing rides occasionally (we were able to get by walking and using the bus most of the time). We also made use of their airport pickup service. The apartment itself was clean and well kept. The mini-kitchen was stocked with a few food items and we used the facilities to cook our own meals most evenings. John and Cyndi had even gone to the trouble of stocking the apartment with a few baby items - a pack and play for my son to sleep in, a baby bath tub, a guard rail for the bed for my toddler, a few toddler dishes. The backyard came in very handy with the kids too. My only minor criticism of the apartment is that it has some low hanging pipes (visible in the photos) - not a problem for me but my husband did bang his head a couple times (though he is freakishly tall at 6'4"). Overall we had a wonderful stay during what was potentially one of the most stressful times in our lives. Thank you John and Cyndi.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My two teenagers and I came to the Boston area to visit colleges. Cyndi and John (the owners) are a lovely couple and were very helpful in navigating our stay. The apartment was very clean and had all that we needed (and more). There was plenty of space for us. Accessibility to mass transportation into the city was very convenient. We also took advantage of the catering available as well - everything was DELICIOUS! I will definitely stay there again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
