From the first moments of entering the grounds, you feel transported to another time and place. Casa Hamaca is a fusion of ancient Mayan culture and vibrant Spanish colonial; both experienced in modern-day comfort. Encounter surprise after delightful surprise as you walk through the jungle-like garden to the hacienda-style main building.

Casa Hamaca Guesthouse in Valladolid, Yucatán, is ideal for independent travelers and small groups. It's your home away from home if you are searching for a central location from which to explore the Yucatan.

The Stone Suite (or Tun Nich Na in Mayan) has a plush king bed, a spacious combination dressing room and bath with lots of hot water, ceiling fans and air conditioning, an original Yucatan-themed mural, masks and wall-hangings from around the world, a Mayan tortilla-making table, an authentic Mayan hammock in which to relax or nap, and wireless internet access. The theme of the Stone Suite is, of course, stone. A custom-built stone bed (with a very comfortable mattress) under a stone arch (with built-in reading lights) looks across to a stone table. The bathroom floor is tiled in natural red stone while the walls are tiled with fossil-filled white limestone from the quarries of the Yucatan. The spacious bathroom features a large built-in cedar closet with ample luggage storage. The Tun Nich Na Suite normally sleeps 2 adults in the bed, however, another adult or youngster can comfortably sleep in the hammock at any time of the year.

Pac 'N Plays are available for small children. Plus there is a a public playground across the street. There is a small plunge pool in which to cool off after a day at the ruins; public spaces and verandas with inviting seating or relaxing hammocks. A bookcase filled with Mayan reference works and guides to the Yucatan is available for our guests. Plus there's an authentic thatched-roof Mayan palapa where you can indulge yourself with a massage, facial, manicure or pedicure. And there is secure, off-street parking. Our breakfasts are flavorfully fresh, healthy and filling. There is always a tropical fruit selection, granola & yoghurt, rolls or muffins, freshly squeezed juice, coffee, tea and milk plus the breakfast entree of the day... maybe huevos rancheros or tamales filled with shredded chicken or perhaps a surprise. There's cereal for the kids. And we can work with just about any dietary restriction to provide you with a great breakfast. You won't leave the table hungry. A wrap-around, flag-draped balcony overlooks the dining courtyard while the space above rises to a three-story, light-filled atrium. The national flags are from the home-countries of past guests.

Casa Hamaca Guesthouse may have the only wheelchair accessible guest room in all of Valladolid. There is a gently-curving ramp from the parking area to the first floor of Casa Hamaca where the spacious Tun Nich Na (or the Stone Suite) awaits you. It's not quite ADA compliant but it is very close.

There are no guest phones nor in-room TV. There is, however, a DVD player in the salon for your use.
