This was our second island, (we were on Maui for a week), and now think we should have done Molokai for 12 days. This cottage on the edge of the ocean was fantastic! It is 18 miles from town, speed limit on the highway is about 30mph so don't think you can breeze into town in 15 minutes. The slower pace on the entire island makes Molokai what it is, you can slow down and enjoy yourself. Take time to look at the wild life; we saw mongoose, axis deer, turkeys, pheasants and northern cardinals on our drives. The cottage is beautiful; hardwood floors, a great kitchen with rice cooker, salad spinner, pots, garlic press, salad bowls and baking dishes, The barbeque grill is charcoal you can pick that up in town. I usually bring a small assortment of spices with me and would reccommend this as only salt and pepper are on hand. The queen bed in the master bedroom is comfortable looks out at the ocean and at night the stars twinkle through the window, Our average temps for this end of January stay was about 77 with lows at night about 65. We definately didn't need the ceiling fans to keep us cool. There were plenty of towels; including some beach towels in the bathroom closet and a hairdryer if you need it. We used the washer and dryer once; bring a couple of those new laundry soap tablets; (Tide and Purex make them) seal them in a ziplock when packing. Wireless internet was easy to connect to; satellite tv is available, we didn't watch it; and there is also a portable radio/cd player. A good collection of books and lots of books on Molokai as well as the other islands were very helpful. If you are staying during whale season bring binoculars. We watched a whale pound the water over 15 times with it's tail and saw severals whales breach during our stay. An amazing experience for us desert rats, from Moab, Utah. The water out front is shallow and reef protected; we saw local fisherman at the outer edge of the reef catching fish. The island itself is very quiet; music at the Paddlers Inn a few nights a week. Don't miss Saturday morning farmers/crafts market in town. Stop at the visitors center;for the local paper. Fruit stands and Kumu organic farm had fresh produce. I had thought about staying on the west end but am so glad we rented this cottage. It was the ideal location, sparkling clean, and very spacious. For us to spend two full days not budging from our cottage attests to just how wonderfully special this was.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.

Kip and Leslie, Julie and I just wanted to tell both of you how wonderful our stay at the cottage was and how much we enjoyed Molokai. It is a true hidden gem of Hawaii, and one that we can't wait to return to visit and stay again with you at the cottages. The cottage was everything we had hoped for and actually we found it to be better than we expected. Your housekeeper did a great job of preparing it for us, the cottage tastefully furnished and wonderfully equipped for a live-in visit. We really respected the efforts you have made to make it as comfortable and enjoyable a stay that it was. We are serious about coming back this next December. So again, thanks very much for a wonderful stay on Molokai, we are already looking forward to returning as your guests. Dallas and JulieDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

An absolutely charming little bungalow in the most perfect setting imaginable. Well-appointed beachfront bungalow, with a full kitchen that has everything you need to cook up meals. Bar-BQ grill, beach towels, beach chairs, DVD player, flat screen TV--like a home away from home for us. Loved the private beach with no neighbors in sight, truly one of the best vacation experiences we've ever had, and we usually stay at 4 & 5 star hotels. We have decided to stay at the Dunbar cottages annually from now on.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+.

My husband and I recently stayed at Puunana Beachfront Cottage in Kainalu, Molokai. It was one of the most scenic, relaxing and charming b&b's we have ever stayed at. We thoroughly enjoyed the mountain and ocean views and the proximity to so many beautiful beaches and hikes on the east side of Molokai. The cottage was very comfortable and we loved falling asleep to the sound of the ocean every night. I highly, highly recommend this beachfront cottage!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

This place was a little slice of heaven. Fall asleep to the warm ocean breeze while listening to the ocean waves break on the shore. It was relaxing peaceful and just what we wanted. The cottage has everything you need for a private get-away, including your own private beach. The lanai is the perfect place to have your morning coffee and gaze across the channel to Maui. Amenities include - full kitchen, BBQ, washer/dryer, and even had wireless for those of you who just can't leave work behind. I can't wait to come back and stay here again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

We chose the island of Molokai because of the claim of old-time charm, laid back atmosphere, and friendly people. It did not disappoint on any level. The cottage was the crowning touch -- absolutely heavenly! We never wanted to leave! It is the perfect size and lay out and having your own personal stretch of beach is the way to go! The kitchen has pretty much everything you need and the washer and dryer are a nice bonus. The owners were very hands-off, which is great, they provided all the info we needed, so we didn't need to bug them. I left something behind and contacted them and they very graciously offered to mail it to us. We would stay there again, for sure! We highly recommend this cottage for anyone who wants a relaxing time at a beautiful place.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.
