Renovated Train Station on Thoroughbred Horse Farm
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
Come stay in our newly renovated 1890's train station in the heart of the bluegrass.
We are on a working thoroughbred horse farm right off Paris Pike, one of the most scenic areas in all of Central Kentucky. Drive by Gainsway and Elemendorf farms on the way to Claiborne farm. 15 minutes to the Kentucky Horse Park, Fasig Tipton, close to Keeneland and the Lexington area attractions.
Hutchison Station was part of the L&N railroad system between 1890-1950, it still has the original hardwood floors, 12' ceilings and much of the original molding. In its heyday it included a post office, livestock loading platform, general store and blacksmith's shop. You can read more about the station house in "Ghost Railroads of Kentucky". Many of the original families still live in the area.
Area activities include a 9 hole golf course within walking distance, and a short drive to many 18 hole courses, horse farm tours, historicl sites including Shakertown, Mary Todd Lincoln House, Henry Clay Estate, Civil War battlefields and much more.
We have easy access to I75 & I64 and are located 1/2 way between Lexington and Paris.

We spent five nights at this terrific property while touring UK with our daughter. It was a wonderful experience in every respect. The property is beautiful, clean and well-provisioned and the location is stunning, there were six mares with foals frolicking about and the country landscape is gorgeous. Our hosts, Steve and Lisa, could not have been more welcoming, helpful and hospitable and provided some excellent restaurant recommendations. It is convenient to all the Lexington attractions and the nearby town of Paris is quite charming. We highly recommend this property and hope to return soon!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The owners of this property have done a fantastic job renovating this old train depot and turning it into a very comfortable, nicely furnished living space. It was perfect for our family of four, as it was our first trip to Lexington, and we were eager to experience horse country up close. Just as advertised, the property is located on a horse farm amidst many other horse farms -- in the country, yet minutes away from the Kentucky Horse Park, Keeneland, and downtown Lexington. The owners were welcoming and accessible, though we never needed their assistance aside from some restaurant advice. When we return to Lexington, we will return to Steeple Hill.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I, along with my brother and his wife, stayed here Memorial weekend 2012 and had a great time. The place is very nicely done, with wonderfully thick towels and comfortable beds. Very peaceful!! The owners were great to deal with and the mares and their foals in the pasture across from the property were a big hit!!! We hope to be able to stay here again. Please disregard the 1 star my brother gave in his review as he definitely intended to put 5 stars!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

My husband and I stayed at this house while we celebrated our two birthdays. The house is very comfortable and the owners are very helpful. We especially enjoyed John George, the donkey, outside our bedroom window. The house is close to all the horse farms, Louisville museums, the Quilt Trails, and the Bourbon Trails. We visited wineries, distilleries, and museums. Paris is a lovely town and there are several nice local restaurants in the area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway.

It had WI-FY and TV in each of the bedrooms and Lounge area. The horses were incredibly lovely and very friendly. What a wonderful place to spend a vacation! I was greeted with freshly baked cookies and beautiful pink roses. The communication prior to my stay was pleasant; directions to the place and instructions for access were simple. The place itself was better than advertised, well equIpped with very comfortable beds. The area is almost indescribable; we watched mares with their foals in the pasture right outside our door. We made friends with a horse and a donkey in an area next to the depot. We drove all over the countryside while following the Quilt Trail. Lexington and Frankfort are within easy driving distance. Just driving down the roads is wonderful. The owners were accessible without being intrusive. We had a minor problem, not related to the house itself, and we received prompt response and help. They even followed up the next day to make sure all was well. I cannot recommend the area and this specific property highly enough. If you want a beautiful, peaceful area and a comfortable place to stay, this is the place for you.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This was our second stay at this beautiful renovated train station. Spring is the perfect time to visit, we could watch the mares and foals across the drive, flowers were in bloom. The owner was very gracious and available. He gave great recommendations for dining and sightseeing. The apartment is clean, well equipped and spacious. It is a very comfortable and convenient place to stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My fiance and I stayed a week at this wonderful location. Every ammenity was included. The chocolate chip cookies that were awaiting our arrival was a wonderful touch. We so enjoyoed sitting out on the side yard, enjoying a glass of wine, and watching the mares and foals. We are coming back in April and can't wait! I can't imagine staying anywhere else. The facility was ultra clean and Steve and Lisa were very helpful. The location is close to the "horse world" and yet away from all the hustle and bustle. We loved our stay so much and the beautiful Bluegrass area that we are giving serious consideration to moving there. It was the best vacation we have ever had, and seriously, we did not want to return to NJ>Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family stayed at Steve and Lisa's for a week in June. It was exactly what we were looking for! It is centrally located so trips to the Horse Park, Keeneland and all the private farms tours are just a quick car ride away. The house is perfectly appointed and the proximity to the foals and mares kept our horse-loving daughters busy every minute we were 'home'. From the fresh cookies upon our arrival to the fireflies in the field at night...we could not ask for a better Kentucky get away. We will definitely be back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
