No place... SPEAKS... "Montana" like Quaking Aspen Ranch!!
Built in 1999 with comfort, elegance, and privacy in mind – Quaking Aspen Ranch is like no other. Located on 32 acres of river bottom on the banks of the blue-ribbon trout stream, East Rosebud River, this log home features 5,000 square feet of modern living.
Massive windows throughout the house allow for scenic viewing from every room. Montana’s Absaroka and Beartooth Mountains and the East Rosebud River provide the backdrop.
No matter which of the five bedrooms you rest your head in, crack the window to enlist the babble of the River. You’ll be asleep in no time.
The main floor has a spacious kitchen and dining room adjoining a great room with a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace. Adjacent to the great room is a romantic master bedroom. The master bedroom has a private deck and bath – complete with a Jacuzzi tub and a two-person shower.
The length of the complete first floor is family room – outfitted with another large, wood-burning fireplace, ping-pong table, foosball, big screen TV, DVD player and movies, and Xbox console and games. The first floor also has two queen bedrooms, each with a private bath and closet.
A balcony/bridge connects the two queen bedrooms on the third floor. Each bedroom has a private bath and closet.
Relax, fish and/or hunt right on the private riverfront property. Cast for trout – brown or rainbow – in one of two ponds, one on each side of the massive 'yard'. Or you can fish live water by casting the river bottom, a blue ribbon trout stream.
Expect to see wildlife daily. The river bottom is attractive and is some of the finest whitetail deer habitat in Montana. The river bottom is also home to sandhill cranes, blue heron rookery, turkey, moose, beaver, and red fox to name a few.
In the evening gather around the large fire pit to enjoy a bonfire and toast S’mores.
Enjoy many nearby attractions within minutes of the Ranch.

We were informed two days prior to arriving that there would be construction going on around the cabin. The owner gave us the option to reschedule, but that was not an option with family traveling from many locations. When we arrived we found a road to the cabin that was barely accessible. The cabin was not very clean and was missing key pieces of furniture like night stands and some beds did not have complete sets of bedding. The owner did not give us a walk thru to make sure we understood everything. Each day we were there we had to coordinate with the road construction company to get in and out of the place since many times the road was covered with piles of dirt and rocks making it impassible. Each morning we woke up at 7:30am by the sound of machinery and the smell of diesel fuel. We talked to the owner (Lincoln) and got verbal agreement from him to discount the amount we paid due to the inconvenience of the construction. Since we left he has not responded to any messages or e-mails. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this rental.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Quaking Aspen is an amazing property. It's spacious and well-equipped with a ping-pong table and foosball table inside and plentiful fishing poles and other sporting equipment. The owner was great to work with. The property is right on the creek, and includes a fire pit and small ponds as well as a canoe. The house has five large bedrooms and plenty of other places to sleep, a large kitchen area and multiple family rooms. The hiking and fishing opportunities between East Rosebud, West Rosebud and Mystic Lake are truly endless. Shopping and eating in Red Lodge was a highlight. Dinner at the nearby Grizzly Bar was so delicious and fun - our waitress was great even for such a large group, and the Grizzly is one of a kind, Montana style. We do a family reunion every other year in a different location, and this property was by far the best place we've ever stayed - and for the same price as many properties that offer a lot less. The bbq was pretty dirty and the pantry a little sketchy in terms of baking and mixing pans, but overall we couldn't have been happier,Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

The accommodations and the property were fantastic. We had 17 people including 5 under the age of 4 (the stairs are a little scary but we just blocked them for the little ones). The river by the house was beautiful and there was a lot of land to roam about. Our stay was in January but the weather was nice and we were outside a number of times. The only reason why it wasn't a 5 star is that there were a lot of little things that didn't work properly. Not anything that would ruin a vacation but little things like lamps that didn't work, the top rack of the dishwasher didn't wash, and the bathroom sink in one of the bathrooms didn't drain very fast. But those should be fixed because I emailed the owner and I know that he is the type that would fix it just from talking with him. There also was a mechanical problem when we got there but the owner had it fixed within 15 minutes. The owner was great to work with and was very timely in his responses. So overall, it was a great vacation and I do highly recommend it.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

Our intentions were to ski and our stay was brief. Master bedroom has dark stains on the carpet. Kitchen smelled of gas from gas stove and when the cabinet below the stove was opened the smell of gas was overwhelming. When we cooked on this stove the pilot lighter clicked constantly no matter which burner we used. The grill that we were allowed to used had no gas. Kitchen drawer had dead bugs inside. No curtains on most of the bedrooms - which is OK if your upstairs. Floor in lower family room is lifting - and most wood flooring downstairs is unfinished (room to room) which all could be a trip hazard. When we walked around the property we noticed a cabin and decided to take a look inside. Inside were bunk beds and a small stove. On the counter were many open beer bottles, a half full coffee cup that looked just like the one's inside and cigarettes. I am was not sure what to think of that. Many tiny items that did not belong to us were found upon the vacuum and sweeping we completed as we agreed to in the contract, although it seemed like we were the first guests to do this in a long time. I believe we left the place cleaner than when we arrived - despite our linens.Owner response: This leaves me scratching my head. My guests are encouraged to contact me with any questions they have during their stay at The Ranch. Instructions on the kitchen island encourage guests to contact me for any reason at all. Occasionally I have questions about the lighting system or entertainment system. I expect to be contacted. The Schwartz group did not attempt to call or contact me in any way. Before they departed I arrived and they seemed like they had a good time. They told me about the sparker/igniter on the cooktop not acting right and that was it. I apologized and expressed my wish that they had just contacted me. My plumber came right over and discovered a very small leak in the flexible gas line under the stovetop causing the issue, fixed it and left. Cleanliness of the lodge;<) I smiled when I read their review. The lodge is professionally cleaned before and after each guest stay! Carpet is carpet, a stained carpet is not a dirty carpet. Their comments about rummaging through a hunting/storage cabin(no electric or running water about 100 yards from the lodge) disturbs me. That building is not part of the rental agreement and is off limits to guests. There are other buildings, storage, and tool room facilities at The Ranch that are not included as part of the rental agreement, rummaging through them is trespassing. I'm just glad they didn't wander over to the neighbors and start looking through their outbuildings. This past fall a different group ran one of the bathtubs over and warped a bunch of my wood flooring. We are replacing the wood flooring in phases. The room transition spoke of is in one bathroom where the flooring transitions from linoleum in the bath to laminate flooring in the bedroom, 1/4"! I provide no guarantee that the finish carpentry in the lodge can meet some arbitrary standard that is pleasing to everyone. Lincoln Powers - Owner/Operator Quaking Aspen Ranch

Wow, I don't know how this space could have accomodated us any better, from 3 year olds all the way to 70 somethings. This Christmas will truly be memorable, so much laughter, fun, singing, skating, running (one in our group is doing the Boston Marathon), and skiing. The fire pit was an added feature and having enough skates there helped so we didn't need to haul any. The kids thought they were in heaven with all their cousins and the adults just plain enjoyed themselves. The accomodations were excellant, the kitchen well stocked, and enough bedrooms to handle all 18 of us, Thank you bunches and we hope you have tons of renters who will love this place as much as we did.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We had a great 2 night stay at the Quaking Aspen Lodge!! 11 of us girls stayed at the lodge for a weekend retreat. We all brought meals and one night drove into Red Lodge for a nice dinner. It is a great setting for family pictures and walks. Super comfortable, clean and relaxing. Everything (appliances, beds, furniture... is all very new and updated. We even had a Tempupedic Bed!!!! Super comfy! Overall, we all felt spoiled and definately want to come back next year:)Recommended for: Girls getaway.

Our group of ladies, 20 in all, stayed at the Quaking Aspen Ranch 2 years in a row and have been more than impressed. This cabin is in the heart of some of the most beautiful countryside you could come across. The pictures do not do justice to this beautiful cabin. We had plenty of room to spread out and never once felt cramped. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone seeking a quiet retreat in the mountains but with all the amenties. This cabin has everything you could think of from table tennis to a bonfire pit. We loved this cabin and planned to reschedule our women's retreat for next year at the Quaking Aspen Ranch.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This property is amazing! From the view of the snow capped Beartooth Mountains from the great room, to the blue ribbon fly fishing out the back door. This place has it all! We went on a day hike above East Rosebud Lake and then returned to the ranch for the evening. The firepit next to the creek was a super place to cap our day. We loved being serenaded to sleep by the sound of the East Rosebud River. We had a blast! We can't wait to come back.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I love this place! My family and I spent time here over Christmas vacation last year,we went iceskating everyday on the pond near the house, warming up by a cozy fire. The owner had a beautiful christmas tree and decorations, felt like home. Also, loved the shower in the master suite bathroom, nothing like looking out on the Stillwater River as its snowing and deer are running by.I will defenitley be taking my family back again,Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Beth. It's the East Rosebud River that runs next to the Ranch house. Although, you probably spent time on the Stillwater River also since it is only a 5 minute drive from the Ranch;<)

All I can say is "Wow." This house is very cozy, fun, and roomy. Our group spent the weekend in this amazing home, and are wanting to plan another stay. This house is absolutely beautiful. The pictures just don't do the home justice. The owner is more than willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to make a stay as enjoyable as possible. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway.
