A Secluded, Private, Ridge Retreat
Need to Relax? You've picked the right place. Nestled into the Ridges, this Retreat offers a secluded, very quiet and private get-away. Wildlife abounds with birds, squirrels, deer, turkey, and you might even see the elusive red fox, or a Big Buck just yards from the home.
~Hiking the Ridges is allowed, but please obey all No Trespassing Signs, as we want to respect the neighbors land.
~There is a Beautiful Library with a two story wall filled with shelves of books, photos, and other unique items. Another Highlight is the Sunken Den with a Stone Floor made of Actual Stones dug from the area, and a beautiful Wood Floor. One final special room is the Music Room, where a Large Piano (and it's tuned!) awaits the right person to make some beautiful relaxing music.
Everything but your Food & Drink....
~All Linens (Sheets), Towels, Hand Towels, and Wash Cloths are provided at NO extra charge. There are dishes available and a few pots and pans for cooking. All we ask is you treat them as your own, and please leave for the next guests to enjoy.
~No Food or Drink is provided, other than the fresh spring water from the well. Local phone service and local TV Channels are provided along with DSL Wireless Internet.
~Outside there are Three multi-level Decks, with a Weber grill awaiting some juicy Steaks (Charcoal included)! A stone camp fire pit can be found with plenty of room to relax around the fire or lay in the hammock. Once again, all the wood provided.

We loved it!

What we loved most was the solitude of Caballete Retreat! There wasn't another home or cabin within a 1/2 mile. It was beautifully wooded. The cabin was very clean! The kitchen and bathroom had absolutely everything we needed. (plenty of towels, washclothes...dishes, pans, etc). We slept 10 comfortably. The fire pit was HUGE and they supplied an unlimited amount firewood. My ONLY complaint was that the firepit was on a slight hill and I would worry about youngsters or older people losing their balance around it, but the owners said they are thinking of leveling off that area. I loved the numerous decks and the numerous bird feeders. Ten different varieties of birds entertained us every morning with our coffee on the deck! There are plenty of cozy sitting rooms within the cabin if you wanted to get away from everybody and read a good book or have a private conversation. The pictures on the website really don't do it justice. We fell in love with it the moment we walked in! They even have a hammock near the fire pit! I hihgly recommend Caballete Retreat. I plan on going back! If you get tired of the peace and quiet, Black River Falls offers a LOT of activities like canoeing, kayaking, golfing, etc. There is something for everyone!
Owner response:If you’re looking for a quiet relaxing place to unwind with Family and Friends, we welcome your visit. Located on a Dead End Road and the only Cabin Rental we have, you won't be disturbed by traffic driving by or other vacationing guests. Only a short 10 minute drive from Black River Falls, we are close to most any activities you would like to do during the day, and then get back to relax for the afternoon or evening around the fire or sit out on the back deck watching the wildlife. We appreciate our guests’ suggestions and are always looking to make your next stay even more enjoyable than the last. Thank you!!

Our extended family (3 couples and one child) enjoyed a two-night stay at Caballete Retreat. We had hoped to cross country ski in the area but there was no snow so far this winter. No matter--we watched movies and played games indoors. We built a nice campfire outside and enjoyed the clear sky and waxing moon. During the day, we hiked in nearby Black River State Forest. The Retreat felt cozy, full of books, games and homey decorating touches that made us feel welcome. We'd like to return in another season!
Owner response:We are always so happy that families can come together and enjoy each others company. And the fire pit and moon; to sit around a camprire is such a fun thing to do. There has not been much snow yet this year, but Jackson County has so many hiking areas that are beautiful in winter too. We hope you can return and enjoy again.

This is a lovely retreat where we found peace and joy. After a day of kayak or hiking, it was great to have the feeling to be at home! The country is beautifl with its rounded wooded hills, & the people we met blind. We'll be back! Thank you. Merci!
