REPRESENTATIVE RENTERS' QUOTES:
“I just wanted to let you know that Julie and I had a great time and Santa Fe and really enjoyed the apartment. Thank you very much for everything. It’s a great place. We also took your recommendations and went to La Choza and Café Sena, and hiked the Atalaya trial. It all made for a great vacation for us.
Again, thank you.”
Best regards,
Pete

“We really had the best time and will be in touch about coming back next year.
Is there anything you would like me to do before we leave?
Thank you again, we really had a great time!”
Fondly,
Marylyn

“We've been in a bit over a week and I haven't yet thanked you for your kind note and lovely bottle of wine - thank you for such a nice welcome!
Anyway, this photo was taken the day we arrived as we were about to set out on our first walk. Bear had been in the car for 3 days; he was ready to go! We've been on many outings since with his favorite being off leash on the many mountain trails full of other happy canines.
We love the house and its many charms. I feel like I'm just getting to know it, now that things have finally quieted down. I'd love to know the history of it if you get the chance.
Hope this finds you well and, again, thank you for everything.”
Lisa

“I've been enjoying the house, and Santa Fe's great fall weather-
I'm going to hate to leave.
I hope everything is going well with you all!!
Happy Halloween!”
Philip

“Thank you. What a wonderful house you have! We certainly want to come back. There is so much that we did not get to do. We are eagerly anticipating a return trip.”
Janet

“We have enjoyed our time here very much. Living in this neighborhood has given us an entirely different Santa Fe experience than we have had in the past. I have explored the area and learned my way around town, which has been a lot of fun. All in all, it has been delightful. I hate to go home where the heat has been over 100 for a long time- 110 yesterday! Thanks for sharing your lovely space.”
Ginger

“The stay was very enjoyable. We were wondering if your place is free in Aug. If so we would be interested in renting it again?”
Rachel

We had such a wonderful time staying in the casita. The pictures posted on VRBO do not do it justice. It's such a charming place; well equipped with everything that we possibly needed (including a crib!), that we didn't want to leave. Even our 16 month old had a blast! It's a lovely, clean, comfortable, stylish home that was the perfect place to stay at while visiting Santa Fe for a week. It's east-side location was perfect (walking distance to Canyon Road, close to downtown) & very peaceful. Christine, the owner, was wonderful in our communication & easy to get a hold of. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we return. I highly recommend the rental for future visitors to Santa Fe; it was absolutely lovely.

I stayed in this house for a little over a week. When my experience with the manager made me uncomfortable to stay, I decided I would rather sleep on the floor at a friend's than tolerate his erratic behavior.I called the owner, who agreed to refund 4 days worth of rental. I left the house needing dusting and sweeping, which it needed before. By the time I got home, the owner decided not to refund my money and was unhappy when I insisted on the arrangement she had made before. The house is old but nice. It could have used a good cleaning and several lights were burned out. It became easier to just replace them than to ask for help. There was a serious leak in the tub, wasting water in the desert. Mainly, there was the total disregard for my stay by the manager and the bait and switch by the owner. While I would recommend the house and location, I would not recommend the manager or owner.

Owner response: For the first time in over 26 years of renting our home, we had to retain funds for damages by a renter--$192 total. She lost 2 keys ($20 each per contract), awakening our property manager on different nights to be let in. We are clear that we cannot accept cats, which trigger asthma in my husband. She sneaked hers in, requiring much extra cleaning to try to eliminate the cat hair and dander and to remove the pet urine stains she left. I had destroyed her damage deposit check before I realized the extent of the mess, and I explained the charges. She allowed her dogs to bark every day, generating complaints from neighbors. We have had many lovely human and doggy guests. Alas, they were not among them, and we were relieved when she chose to leave a few days early.

We loved the house and had a great stay. The house is authentic and charming and very comfortable. The house was clean and neat, and it had everything we needed. We loved the back patio where we sat at the end of every day in the sun. A fantastic location just up the hill from Canyon Road restaurants and galleries. The owner and caretaker were easy to work with and available. We would recommend it and we look forward to staying here again. Ken & Dan

The manager and the tenant next door were both very friendly and welcoming. The street was quiet and lovely for morning walks. I loved being able to walk down to the Canyon Rd. and even downtown rather easily. The trails and garden at the nearby Audubon Center at the end of the Canyon Rd. are worth a visit. I would definately recommend this place to friends.- Marcia W.

If you enjoy having your morning coffee sitting outside, this is the place for you! The patio is huge and private with a deciduous tree for shade in the summer and sun in the fall & winter! We have rented several houses/casitas in Santa Fe and this is the best patio of all the places we've stayed! We'll be back! The house and location are fantastic! Acequia Madre (mother ditch) is the heart of old Santa Fe and to me, the most charming area in Santa Fe. The house is a short walk to Acequia Madre and the still functioning ditch that brought water to Santa Fe (and that still brings waters on certain days) and East Alameda along the Santa Fe River. These are Santa Fe's 2 most beautiful streets! And if you're into art galleries, Canyon Road is between Acequia Madre and E. Alameda -- and you have access to all that Canyon Rd offers. The house is super comfortable and well equipped. Beds, couches, chairs are all really, really comfortable! My favorite spot was the window seat in the master bedroom with the morning sun shining in! We like to cook when we travel, and this is by far the best equipped kitchen of any place we've stayed in Santa Fe, including cookbooks (and my favorites!) in case you want recipes. Of course, when you have all the fabulous restaurants in Santa Fe, you certainly don't need to cook! Downtown Subscription (best coffee in town!) and The Tea House are walking distance. We had dinner at the Shed (the best New Mexican food -- reservations highly recommended!) and at Maria's (best margharitas anywhere and ditto on reservations). The owner provided excellent information where to eat and places to go, except we didn't have nearly enough time for all the wonderful opportunities in Santa Fe! My advice -- book this house if it's available! You will love it as much as we did!

Living in this lovely home for 2 1/2 months, in one of Santa Fe's most historically significant and interesting areas, far exceeded my expectations. From day one, the house felt like home. With 3 kiva fireplaces, wood floors, beamed (vigas) ceilings, artwork, spacious kitchen, patio, etc., this authentic adobe home is charming and interesting - much like Santa Fe, itself. It also provides every comfort and modern convenience someone would seek during an extended stay. As someone who loves Santa Fe, I can't say enough about the location! My dog and I walked for hours on nearby mountain trails; through the beautiful old surrounding neighborhoods; up and down Canyon Road; and over to the Plaza. The location allows you to feel like a part of this 400 year-old mountain town, with easy access to all the restaurants, art and everything else the city offers. I can't wait to return!

This was our fourth trip to Santa Fe, previously staying at B&B's and Hotels, witch were all okay, but staying at this historic eastside compound was like being steeped in history and local chic. Just walking thru the neighborhood to a trailhead or a gallery on canyon road makes you feel like a local. (you will want the tourists to go home so you can have it for yourself !!) The home was spacious, clean and well equipped. We loved the patio for coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening, also the grounds with its gardens and fruit trees were delightful. I would never miss a chance to stay here again! And a special thanks to the owners for making it easy.

I had a wonderful carefree month in Santa Fe staying in this "Santa Fe Adobe" home. Not only were all the "basics" covered (clean, well-maintained), the neighbors were a bonus. Friendly, helpful and just nice to have around. The location was perfect for me - good morning quiet walks but also close to Canyon Road, shops and restaurants. The ambiance was just what I was looking for as well as the amenities. I can't wait to make another visit!

.Living in Tucson, summers can be pretty grim, which is why I chose this beautiful condo surrounded by flowers and fruit trees, close to the Plaza and Museum Hill and comfortable beyond my imagination, and I'm a writer. To begin with, the inside and outside are beautiful. A real adobe with 3 fireplaces and wood floors, it has everything: linen, great furniture, paintings, Indian rugs, cooking supplies, a washer and dryer and 2 large bedrooms. Did I mention beautiful? I'd have my coffee on the private patio surrounded by flowers and fruit trees (apples, pears, apricots, all of which were in bloom and delicious to eat). I walked my dog every morning in the plaza and can say that the condo is only 5 minutes from the plaza and certainly no more than 10 minutes from the freeway using the rural roads only a few minutes away. One of the bedrooms is set up as an office but also has a very comfortable futon I used often when I had visitors. The main bedroom has a king-sized bed and, given how cool it is at night in Santa Fe, sleeping is great. Multiple linens and towels and plenty of room to cook. A friend of mine who's a foodie said the condo was better stocked with China and pots and pans than her house. And it's very quiet. I began to realize that this is the very best area of Santa Fe...intimate, narrow streets which were originally horse paths, close to everything, and just beautiful. And Santa Fe is a gem. The opera, the great restaurants, the farmers market, the cultural events, the free music every night on the plaza and at the railyards, I could not have asked for a better summer. I can't forget Tim, the wonderful onsite person who takes care of things and who couldn't have been more helpful and Chris, the co-owner who was helpful and easy and more like a friend than a landlady. A summer in Santa Fe. Magic. I'm back in Tucson after over 2 months in Santa Fe and regret that I didn't spend more time there. Next year for sure, and if I'm lucky and the condo is available, Max my dog wouldn't want us to stay anywhere else. For those of you escaping hot weather, at 7000 feet Santa Fe is cool in the mornings, warm during the day, very comfortable at night and never humid. Perfect weather for hiking, tennis and just walking around the plaza. This condo is a gem and Santa Fe is magic

My friend and I rented this place for a month while doing some work in Santa Fe (we're artists). The interior was beautiful and spacious, the kitchen well-equipped. There are two other rentals in the compound with permanent tenants. They were lovely to us. Tim, who lives with his wife in the unit behind, was available for questions or problems that came up. He came over one night when we couldn't figure out how to get the TV remote to work. A curtain rod came down and he took care of it right away. One of the best features is the location in a lovely neighborhood off of Canyon Road. It was very peaceful and the views of the mountains were spectacular. We were close to Museum Hill, Canyon Road galleries and restaurants and the Plaza.

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 1986

About the owner: Owned jointly by two old friends--one a retired anthropologist who lives in Colorado and the other a retired consultant who lives in Florida. We (and our husbands) love Santa Fe's cultural richness, arts, great food, spectacular scenery with such a variety of ecosystems, wonderful hiking, birding and other wildlife viewing.

Why the Owner Chose Historic Eastside:
In minutes we can be on the trail hiking up Atalaya Trail, summit 9,121. Afterward, we can walk three blocks to dinner at Geronimo's, the Compound, or El Farol and all the shops and galleries on Canyon Road. The home is in an historic Santa Fe neighborhood; yet we have extensive grounds with beautiful, private gardens and patios.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Great privacy and beauty very close to everything. Lots of butterflies and birds, including hummingbirds, live here because the property is filled with mature native trees, shrubs, and perennials, and fruit trees. Sitting on the very private and quiet patio, it's hard to believe that we're minutes to Canyon Road and the Plaza.
