Located at 2408 Dauphine Street, the first thing you will notice on approaching the fully restored 1850's, 2-story frame Italianate house is the exceptionally fine wrought iron corn stalk fence at the front of the property (one of three known in New Orleans). The front of the house is a 3-bay, columned, double gallery with diamond motifs, decorative wrought iron railings, a recessed doorway, and cornice with paired brackets.
The interior has all the features of an American townhouse in the Italianate design including side hall staircase and beautiful heart pine floors throughout. Boasting of 14 foot ceilings on the ground floor and 12 foot ceilings on the second floor, the 4,400 square feet comprises six guest rooms decorated in period style appointments and complete original decorative mantles. All bedrooms save one open to a balcony or to the large L-shaped courtyard with brick patio, two covered seating areas, a spa and fish pond.
This lovely home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and decorated throughout with many beautiful and unique items from the owners’ extensive art collection.

We had 11 people stay at Collinwood House, a beautifully decorated and comfortable home. The location made it easy to walk to and from Frenchmen street, and everything else was a quick cab ride. Tom was a wonderful host, giving a first-hand account of the treasures found throughout the house. (The Napoleon room was the big favorite!) We would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I rented this home for my sister's bachelorette party weekend. It was the perfect size for our party of twelve. The house is AMAZING! So much history and so many unique pieces of furniture and art. The double parlor provided the perfect place for the brunch/bridal shower we planned for the bride. The soft music radiating from the grand piano added a nice touch. The house is in a charming neighborhood and is a short walk to Frenchman Street, the French Market, and the French Quarter. There are also several cute coffee shops, bakeries, and restaurants in the neighborhood. Tom and Chuck were great hosts and provided us with many recommendations during our stay. We are in love with this house and will definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to New Orleans in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed here in February of 2013 for my wife's 30th birthday party with a group of 13 people. The house accommodated the size of our party perfectly- in fact, we could have fit a couple more in there on the provided air mattresses. The owners were easy to work with. The best part of the house may be the location- we were able to walk to Frenchmen Street, an outdoor market with excellent Bloody Marys, the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, etc. There was an excellent breakfast place 2 blocks away (New Orleans Cake Cafe & Bakery).Recommended for: Tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway.

I grew up in NOLA but now live in San Diego. I took 12 women with me down to NOLA for Mardi Gras this year. A couple of them had been to nola before but none had been to Mardi Gras! We rented all of the Cottonwood House and it could not have been more perfect. The size of the bedrooms were actually bigger than in the photos. More beautiful! It was so nice having so many bathrooms for so many women as well. There is not one negative thing I can say about this house. Sitting and having coffee on the front porch in the morning was heavenly with all the neighbors walking past saying hello. Drinks/wine on the upper porch in the evenings watching the sunset was magical. And drinks around midnight or 2 am in the backyard under the stars recapping the days events was just what you need in Nola! We walked to the Quarter and back every day. We walked to Frenchman St to listen to live Jazz/Blues at Blue Nile or Snug Harbor a few times as well. Location, location, location! This house has it all and I hope I will be able to come back to the Collinwood House for many years to come. I HIGHLY recommend this house to anyone visiting New Orleans. And Chuck and Tom were awesome. Thank you!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We rented the house for a long weekend with a group of friends and it was perfect. It's definitely a one of a kind stay and gives you a real taste of New Orleans hospitality and culture. It's in a great area with delicious restaurants and coffee shops a few blocks away and only a 15-minute walk to the middle of the Quarter. Each of the rooms have a lot of character, and the balconies and garden give ample room to relax outside. The number of rooms and beds are great for any large group across ages. The owners will go out of the way to help organize your stay and they were even kind enough to help us arrange a typical New Orleans luncheon at the house. Highly recommend the Collinwood as a place to stay during your visit.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Dear Potential Guest, I recently stayed at the Collinwood House to celebrate my birthday amongst friends. We were greeted by the owner and given a tour of the most beautiful furnished home. What a delight it was to stay here. Not to mention its amazing location in the Marigny within a small walk to Frenchmen Street and the Quarter. If you are looking to make your trip truly memorable and take in the spirit of New Orleans, then this is the place!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a group of 11 friends and family for 2 birthday celebrations during our 4 night stay. Tom and Chuck did a wonerdful job of arranging and taking care of our needs. We all are looking forward to returning for another adventure in New Orleans. I have rented other homes in the area and this by far is the best one yet. Rent the whole house and you will be glad you did. Short walk or cab ride to all the entertainment needed.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We are not sure how we found Collinwood House but we could not have been happier with our choice for our first visit to New Orleans. From the moment we touched down, Tom provided, on request, great advice on everything local-transportation, eats, and music. The location was perfect: while the Marigny is close to Frenchman Street and the French Quarter, the house is on a quiet street and an easy walk. The furnishings were both comfortable and impressive, and the outdoor space an added bonus.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I stayed with a group of 9 friends for a week this fall. As first-timers to Nola all the way from Canada we weren't too sure what to expect. We were so extremely pleased with all aspects of our stay. The house is immaculate, very spacious and so full of history and interesting things to look at, including a grand piano!! Chuck and Tom were exceptional hosts, very kind and gave us nothing but good advice on everything we had inquired about, Chuck even gave us a full tour of the house upon arrival and told us the story about most the art/antiques on display. As for the area, the Marigny neighborhood is super close to the quarter yet just far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet. Frenchmen street's spectacular live music scene is also just a few blocks away. We walked almost everywhere save late at night when taxis were cheap and easy to get. Would recommend this rental 100%, the house as a whole or as b&b. Thank-you Tom and Chuck, for everything <3Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
