Located in the beautiful John River Gorge, between Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain, GLOBE VALLEY RANCH is 'where the pavement ends' and your dream vacation begins. Our family began our dream of building quaint mountain cabins with the purchase of 117 acres on the Johns River in 2005. The Johns River and the Pisgah National Forest border our property and offer a beautiful, tranquil setting to be enjoyed in all seasons!

We proudly offer our brand new hand hewed log cabin with 2 bedrooms and a loft with 2 single beds. A wonderful six seater hot tub sits on the back deck of the cabin. We rent on a daily or weekly basis. In addition, we have built a 36x36 timber frame barn with a BBQ area and play area. We invite you to listen and observe the abundant wildlife on our pristine acreage and enjoy total relaxation on the covered front porch that overlooks 'Bear Hollow Creek'. You may also enjoy a hike down by the Johns River to 'wet a hook'. Our vacation destination offers a wide range of outdoor activities for the adventure enthusiasts during spring, summer, fall or winter.

There are other rental units on the property, ask for more information.

Our stay was from 12/25-12/30/12.....we throroughly enjoyed the relaxation and down time provided....very private and remote.....loved the quiet environment but especially listening to the creek water while sitting on the front decks.....the hot tub was awesome....a few recommendations: definitely bring food (20-30 miles to town), bring charcoal if you plan to grill ( I was anticipating a gas grill ;) ), I would recommend a 4x4 so you can take the gravel road (turn up Anthony Creek Rd) to get to Blowing Rock in less than 10 miles/25 mins vs driving 35 miles around the mountain.

I have rented several properties through VRBO. Inevitably, there are several things that were not as advertised. This was NOT the case at Globe Valley. The pictures, descriptions and information was exactly as seen. We were amazed by what was provided, the cabin was beautiful, the hot tube worked perfectly, the Internet was spotty, but we were supposed to be unconnected! The kitchen appliances worked well and were up to date, all the light switches were marked as to what they operated. A suggestion would be to have a larger outdoor trash can. For anyone traveling to Blowing Rock, it took us longer than 20 min, driving mountain roads may have contributed to this.

We rented the cabin and barn as the location for our wedding which was held on 10/20/2012. Between my husband and I, our families are spread from the east coast of NC to Alaska and this venue offered us the opportunity to have our immediate families stay together and get to know one another for several days leading up to the big event. There were two couples that did not have rooms on site that we accommodated in rooms at a location 4 minutes down the road call Johns River Valley Camp. We had the ceremony and reception just outside of the barn with the food/beverages/gifts/etc setup inside. We had our food catered by Bandana's Bbq in Boone and rented tables/chairs/etc from Valley Rentals in Lenoir, NC. The cabin owners had never hosted a wedding on site before and were gracious enough to allow us to come in and utilize their facilities without hesitation. The location was absolutely beautiful and offered an amazing backdrop/setting for our big day. Our wedding was held in the peak of the fall season for the NC mountains and we had the fortune of being there as the leaves were changing and offered a kaleidoscope of color for our outdoor event. We will never forget our time at the cabin and have already discussed going back to visit again! To anyone who is considering this as a rental, know that you'll go down the longest, curviest road to get there and then you're in absolute heaven once you arrive. Thanks again to the owners for allowing us to utilize their home in such a memorable way, we will be forever grateful!!!!!

Everything was wonderful, already planning our next trip up with our church life group and looking forward to a trip up with our daughters when its cold and snowy. Very homey and comfortable. No issues with directions, instructions, or the cabin. We never found the outside trash can. Did we miss it?

We love GVR! It's that special place where my family can go to reconnect with each other and relax! The weather was perfect to explore the trails. We got to see plenty of turkey and even a couple of deer! The hot tub is a great new amenity! We are already trying to figure out when we can go back next!

My family enjoyed a terrific weekend at Globe Valley Ranch. We stayed in both the cabin and barn. Both are clean and well-maintained and have all the comforts of home (including cable tv and wireless internet). The property was a perfect getaway as there was something for everyone - hiking trails, John's River, hot tub, etc, etc. Our ages ranged from 5 to 80 and everyone had something to do and loved our weekend stay. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Enjoyed a wonderful weekend with my family in a great setting free from distractions. There was something for everyone. Young and old enjoyed the campfire, the John's River and the hot tub. The cabin and the barn has all the comforts of home and is beautifully decorated. My grandchildren are wanting to go back again!

What an extraordinary place. The cabin is well equipped and extremely clean. The 100 plus acre grounds and the river are incredible and private. The hot tub is a very nice feature, as well. The most direct route to Blowing Rock, from the property is about 8 miles, which includes a gravel road section, we made it there in 20 minutes. There are alternate routes that are all paved, if that is more to your liking. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, yet close enough to civilization, in case you begin to miss it,..........look no further.

We just returned from this awesome cabin and barn. Three families went and thoroughly enjoyed a long 3 day weekend. The kids slept in the loft and the parents in the bedrooms. The cabin and barn kitchens are stocked full of supplies to make some great meals. The linens and towels were plentiful. We loved having a fire each night and roasting marshmellows out in the fire pit. We hikes on the many trails, fished in the nearby river. We went tubing at nearby Hawksnest which was a blast. Next time the girls plan on shopping in nearby Blowing Rock. The kids loved all the games that were there to play. We really had a great weekend. Thanks for such a memorable weekend for our kids to remember forever!!!
