This newly decorated,800 sq.ft., one-bedroom condominium sits right at the water's edge, in a small, gated complex. Sliding glass doors in both the bedroom and living room open out onto the patio and the Caribbean, just yards away. A sandy beach (called Pelican Cove, as Pelicans dive for their food there),ideal for swimming, sun bathing, snorkeling (equipment at the condo) and long walks, sits adjacent to the complex, which has a pool (barely visible from the back of the unit). But while in the unit or on the patio, which sit slightly above the water, you'll enjoy hard-to-match privacy, thanks to a rocky stretch of beach and a low, stone wall that runs in front of the condo, preventing public beach strollers from passing in front. The refreshing trade winds more than adequately cool the unit, which nevertheless has large ceiling fans, and air conditioning. Laundry rooms and a reserved parking space are on site.

Take a few minutes walk along the sandy beach to find two small hotels with seaside restaurants and twice-a-week on-the-beach yoga classes (just $10 for a 90 minute session). Or take a short drive to any of the island's other restaurants, including those in the nearby (less than 10 minutes) historic waterfront town of Christiansted, which also features cobbled streets, old churches, a 1700s fort, several museums (art, pottery, etc.), a book store (with occasional readings by authors who live or vacation on the island), and a 27-acre historical area maintained by the U.S. National Park Service. And, of course, all sorts of shopping.

Other available activities, all within a 25-minute drive, include the island's only gambling casino, three golf courses (one designed by Robert Trent Jones, and another at a luxury hotel that nevertheless charges only a $50 greens fee), great scuba diving (two sets of equipment at condo), tennis, a rain forest, sport fishing, and a gym. And, of course, just gazing at the sea from the patio, perhaps grilling fresh fish on the propane gas grill (on the patio) as you watch the sun go down.

Food shopping is nearby:one store is half-a-mile away. Contact Judi-of-Croix re car rental.

Perfect accommodation for someone looking for oceanfront access and a beautiful view each morning. I have been coming down to St Croix since 1989 and although I could stay for free at a friend's house in downtown Christiansted I feel it worth the expense to stay here. Roy and Tekla are fantastic support people and make you feel very much at home. Only shortcoming, if you can call it that, is that it would be better for the Internet connection to be wireless instead of having to use an Ethernet cable. Not a big issue.

We came to this island ahead of hurricane Sandy after conferring with and getting ok'd by the owner; stayed for 8 nights. We had previously intended to come for my husband's birthday in August but he ended up having surgery! The owner was quite accomodating. The condo was as described and pictured and ocean front (sea wall separates condo from ocean). It was clean and well maintained. Well stocked with whatever you need for a beach/island vacation (they even had a bottle of vodka and a bottle of white wine!), including pots/pans/cups/glasses, lots of towels, clean linen, snorkel, fins, books for down time, and anything else to make your stay comfortable. A bit of a problem with internet access (no wifi in condo) but go to sitting area by the office and wifi to no end. But you are not on the island to go on the internet, so this is not a big deal. Sleep with the sliding doors open and low ceiling fan setting--you won't need AC. The sound of the ocean waves will lull you to a restful sleep but if you a light sleeper, then bring ear plugs. Places to eat: Mocha Jumbies Cafe, La Reine Chicken Shack (go before 4pm or call ahead to pick food up at the bar after 4:30pm), Blues bbq grill (11-7pm Wed to Sun), Pier 69 in Frederiksted (newly reopened, new owners), Angry Nates, Rum Runners. You will get too much food and always end up with leftovers to eat the following day. I really wanted to eat at Ace Roti but could never find it! Foodtown and Pueblo for groceries. Best drinking water: Niagara brand or Dasani, can't drink tap water. Finally, Mr. Roy (condo manager, super) is ever present and willing to answer every question and meet every need you might have. Thank you for the yellow plantains (coat lightly with sugar, fry in butter until golden brown and caramelized and sprinkle with coconut flakes for dessert--his recipe!). Thank you, thank you, thank you. It really was lovely stay on a lovely island.

My husband and I had less then a week for a vacation. Our stay was so wonderful, filled with such beauty and so very relaxing, that it felt like so much more time. A quick drive from the airport across the Island and we were there and everything was waiting for us. Sparkling clean, windows open and the breezes coming through the condo, everything was set for immediate relaxation the moment we arrived. Roul, just as everyone said in the previous reviews, was absolutely helpful and friendly. The pool was terrific and, off season, empty. The private beach was wonderful. Perhaps the best was watching the sun rise every morning with our coffee on the terrace. An easy drive to Christensted, we found more than enough restaurants to have variety each day, even while we found our favorite "local," the Christensted Brew Pub, for an afternoon drink each day on the quay. I'm going to give a special shout out for lunch at Angry Nates on the west end of the Boardwalk where the fish is incredibly fresh and the flavors fine. Snorkeling on Buck Island is all the adventure we needed--one of the most incredible coral reefs anywhere. Though I will say one night for some unexpected adventure, I was awakened by a crab crawling across my stomach--we'd left the bedroom sliding doors wide open while we slept (that's how safe we felt)--and the little critter made it inside. So we've a fun story to tell from the stay as well! It was a wonderful and idyllic experience. I recommend it to everyone looking for relaxation, seclusion and even a bit of adventure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay – this unit is highly recommended! (We’ve stayed all over the Caribbean, Central America, Hawaii, and a bit in Brazil.) The unit is clean, just as advertised, by a great beach, and a 15-min. drive from Christiansted. It's very bright and breezy, casual but attractive, almost everything works, and even the bed is reasonably decent. The kitchenette is unusually well-equipped and (even if small in typical “island condo” style) you can cook a nice breakfast and decent dinner. The fridge is cold and freezes well (by no means assured in the Caribbean!) You have to walk a few minutes east to Pelican Palms resort to get to a swimming and snorkeling beach (it’s too shallow right in front of the unit) but it’s easy, everyone does it, and you can get a nice meal at PP. Help with the unit etc. is easily available from Rouel, the condo manager, and grocery shopping is close (Pueblo is cheaper, Food Town has more interesting choices). We’re divers and snorkelers. St. Croix has great underwater topography and macro life (Frederiksted Pier is a “lifetime dive”), but almost no large fish (all fished out) though sharks and snappers are starting to come around as the divemasters feed them lionfish dinners. We dove with S.C.U.B.A. out of Christiansted and thoroughly enjoyed the people and the boat (much easier and drier in rough water than the smaller boat from Dive Experience). If you enjoy snorkeling, go to Carambola Resort (west end of their beach), Coakley Bay (east end), the Hotel on the Key, Cane Bay, and Tamarind Resort (Green Cay). These are all better than the “signature snorkel” at Buck Island (which is deeper and smacked by the most recent hurricane). There's lots of mostly casual but tasty eating -- try the lobster benedict at Angry Nate's, surf and turf and the Buccaneer, or the quesadilla at Rhythms on the west side. Breakfast at Polly's at the Pier is also good. Dessert at Rum Runners or Bombay Club! Our only complaints are minor -- the shower faucet is corroded to the point of being almost unusable, the TV audio sounds like a motor is running, and the sliding doors in both the bedroom and the living room are so corroded that opening and closing them requires a hefty jerk and they easily come right off the tracks. Have a blast, we did!

Owner response: I appreciate this wonderful review. As for the minor complaints, this is the first time they've been brought to my attention, and the problems will be fixed immediately. I urge future renters to let the property manager know about any complaints right away: hopefully they can be resolved within a day or two, if not sooner.

My husband and I were very pleased with the location of the condo and the amazing seaside view. The completely stocked home made the transition from the mainland to the islands very easy and relaxing. We enjoyed the adjacent beach and the pool every day and easily traveled around St. Croix to experience the whole island. Snorkeling at Buck Island was the highlight of the trip! We recommend Seaclusion to couples who want a relaxed atmosphere, easy access to local activities, and great people.

We spent the entire month of February in this condo and our experience was outstanding. The condo is exactly as pictured. Maintenance is excellent and the neighbors are very friendly. St. Croix is a great place to spend the winter months, with friendly people, spectacular views and more good food than anyone ought to have. We intend to repeat this delightful time next year.

We had the pleasure of staying here in December and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The condo lives up to the billing - it’s clean, well stocked, and in a great location. And it’s right on the water with an amazing view and great privacy. The owner made everything easy with info and tips. Grocery shopping is minutes away (Pueblo has better prices than the slightly closer Food Town). We rented a car and toured all over the island, checking out different beaches, sights, and restaurants. We felt safe and people were friendly. Had great outings with Big Beard Buck Island and Tan Tan Jeep Tours; delicious meals at Tutto Bene, Savant, Rumrunners, and the Christianstedt Brew Pub. We ran out of time before we could sample everything the island has to offer. We topped off every day’s activities with a pre-dinner swim in the beautiful pool. This condo is a terrific value and we would happily rent it again.

We spent alot of time sitting on the patio, enjoying the breezes and watching the ocean. Rouel (pronounced Roy or Royal, depending on who you ask) the property manager was always helpful. We knew there was someone coming in right after us, but she didn't make us feel like we had to rush to get out of there. A really relaxing vacation spot. The condo was great. We rented a car for the week, and we had absolutely no problems getting around the island. There were all the towels and linens we needed, and, while we did not use them, the extra toiletries were a nice touch. We only used the air conditioning once, as the sea breeze as perfect for sleeping. We were excited to see the snorkeling equipment that had been provided for us. We really enjoyed having a full kitchen, and we cooked breakfast almost every day, and experimented with some local fish and crustaceans for dinner. It felt like we had a private place right on the beach, with our own sundeck, perfect for lounging. Both the private beach and the beach access toward hibiscus were used quite often, and we really liked walking towards C-sted. With the gated courtyard, we never felt as though security were an issue, indeed the whole island felt quite safe. We really fell in love with the whole island. The people were great, the food was amazing, everyone was friendly, courteous, and extremely helpful, and we really could not have asked for a better time. We had an awesome week, and absolutely loved the condo. If we ever get back to St. Croix, we will definitely be keeping your place in mind. Thank you again for everything, David and Anna M.

About: We read and write (plays, articles, etc.) professionally. We treasure quiet time, 'alone' together.

                          Why Christiansted:
A long-held dream for both of us has been to have a romantic retreat on a Caribbean beach, quiet and private (a writing place), but with culture, restaurants and sports nearby. We always thought that meant a too-expensive private home, and so could not believe our luck when we found Seaclusion. The rocky beach and stone wall running just a bit longer than the length of the patio assure the privacy and quiet we wanted. With a long sandy beach just yards away, and Christiansted but a short drive, our dreams have been realized. Perhaps not unique, but close to it, except for private homes beyond our means.
