This newly decorated,800 sq.ft., one-bedroom condominium sits right at the water's edge, in a small, gated complex. Sliding glass doors in both the bedroom and living room open out onto the patio and the Caribbean, just yards away. Sandy beaches (called Pelican Cove, as Pelicans dive for their food there),ideal for swimming, sun bathing, snorkeling (equipment at the condo) and long walks, sit both within and adjacent to the complex (the beach area within the Association, with chaise lounges, is just about as close as one can hope for to a 'private' beach), which has a pool (barely visible from the back of the unit). While in the condo or on the patio, which sit slightly above the water, you'll enjoy hard-to-match privacy, thanks to a short( but perfectly located) rocky stretch of beach and a low, stone wall that runs in front of the condo, discouraging public beach strollers from passing in front. Refreshing year-round trade winds cool the beach and the unit, which nevertheless has large ceiling fans, and bed room air conditioning available upon request (but almost never needed, as the breeze is constant and divine). Laundry rooms and a reserved parking space are on site seconds away from the condo.
Take a few minutes walk along the sandy beach to find a 4 1/2 star hotel (The Palms) with a seaside restaurant serving throughout the day,on-the-beach yoga classes (just $10 for a 90 minute session). and snorkeling at Long Reef that matches any in the Caribbean. Or take a short drive to any of the island's many other restaurants (we'll send you a list of many of them), including those in the nearby (less than 10 minutes by car) historic waterfront town of Christiansted, which also features cobbled streets, old churches, a 1700s fort, several museums (art, pottery, etc.), a book store (with occasional readings by authors who live or vacation on the island), and a 27-acre historical area maintained by the U.S. National Park Service. And, of course, all sorts of shopping.
Other available activities, all within a 25-minute drive, include the island's only gambling casino; three golf courses (one, Carambola, designed by Robert Trent Jones, another at a luxury hotel [The Bucanneer] that nevertheless charges only a $50 greens fee, and a third [The Reef: 9-holes] with a $30 greens fee); great scuba diving at Cane Bay and Buck Island; tennis (courts seemingly everywhere, including one at The Palms Hotel); a rain forest; sport fishing;seaside horseback riding; and a gym. And, of course, just gazing at the sea from the patio, including a gorgeous sun rise for the early riser.
For quiet nights (or days) at 'home,' the cable TV menu, in addition to the major network and cable channels, includes a multitude of sports (NBA, MLB, Golf, Tennis), movie (Bravo, TBS, TNT,TCM), music (almost 40 genres) and other channels.
Food shopping is nearby:one small store is half-a-mile away, and two supermarkets are within a 5-minute drive.
Judi-of-Croix, a local car rental company, can pick you up and drop you off at the airport, where, in any event, several chain car rental offices are located. And for those interested in buying a home or condo on the island -- many guests inquire about this -- a brochure available at the condo will direct you to a great broker.

About the owner: We read and write (plays, articles, etc.) professionally. We treasure quiet time, 'alone' together.
Why the Owner Chose Christiansted: A long-held dream for both of us has been to have a romantic retreat on a Caribbean beach, quiet and private (a writing place), but with culture, restaurants and sports nearby. We always thought that meant a too-expensive private home, and so could not believe our luck when we found Seaclusion. The rocky beach and stone wall running just a bit longer than the length of the patio assure the privacy and quiet we wanted. With a long sandy beach just yards away, and Christiansted but a short drive, our dreams have been realized. Perhaps not unique, but close to it, except for private homes beyond our means.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo: Every place is sort of unique, and no place is truly unique in important features. Suffice to say that seaside locations -- to say nothing of seaside locations where the gentle surf can be heard and a comforting breeze blows 24/7 -- are very hard to find except at enormous prices.
