About the owner: Robert & I (here sailing) moved from lovely San Diego...We were on our way to Canada!...On the way there, magical Port Townsend Happened! Can you imagine what it is for a sailor man walking 3 blocks from home (home with the wonderful view of the Kah-Tai lagoon in all front windows) to a very unique boat yard and Marina: the 'Boat Haven Marina', where you can moore your sailboat every Summer? Or what it can be for a poetess to run into a café -named 'Lehani's' -in Down Town Port Townsend- just to come meet an extremely powerful group of poets and writers who gather punctually every week to read on an open mic? Joy!!!! Sheer joy!!!! (and it was only the beginning!
Why the Owner Chose Port Townsend:
When we first moved into Port Townsend, we rented a lovely house 'on the bluff' of Up Town Port Townsend...The views of the Port Townsend Bay were breathtaking and inspiring. Water was our theme. Comfort and water. We looked up and down for a home to buy ... Then, our Real Estate Agent clearly understood our needs, wants and style; and she remembered that her friends were putting this house on the market at the beginning of 2004. We saw it, we loved it, we bought it that year!...In November -with renters and all! : ) Their contract expired in April, 2004. We moved in in May, 2004...? Had our first darling guests in June, 2004!!! ?
The Unique Benefits at this Bed And Breakfast:
This B&B is perfect for bird watchers, for it's nonpareil situation: Just across the Kah-Tai Lagoon and Park. This legendary site, is a bird migration path for over 150 species of birds; sometimes graced by the the bold eagle, blue heron, swans, 5 species of swallows, warblers, marsh wren, cedar wax wing, grebe, ruddy duck, merganser, scaup, snipe, and sand pipers...as well as chickadees, robins, sparrows, nuthatch, hummingbirds, stellers jays, and, of course, the proverbial Canada Geese, seagulls, finchs -and a variety of ducks... Ideal for golfers (they could even walk to the public golf course!) Great place also, if you are to build, or repair your boat, because the Boat Heaven Marina is 3 blocks away -and all propped up with an excellent boat repair yard, boat launch, and moorage facilities. For bicyclers, or location is also excellent since the Olympic Discovery Trail is as well, only 3 blocks away. Great for Hikers too: The Larry Scott Trail is about 1/2 a mile away from us, and connects to the Olympic National trail -along the Salish Sea, and the Olympic Peninsula.
