We had a great time at this property. It was all that it said, the house fit 20 people comfortably. Setting is beautiful. House is laid out perfectly to give people space and privacy, or to be together as a group.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We had a great time @ the Retreat at Whiskey Creek. The views are awesome and the house is well kept. The only thing that could improve this rental would be another tv. Since the beach is usually a rainy place in OR it's nice to snuggle up and watch movies when the weather is too yucky to enjoy the outdoors. Sharing the tv with the men can be a downer :) We would rent again in the future. I think it would be a really awesome place to stay during summer.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We have rented vacations houses every year for many years, and without question this was one of the best experiences we've had. To begin with, you never really know what you are getting when you look at photos posted with an advertised house. Photographers invariably try to pick the best angle, which means that often you don't realize that the house is not as well maintained as it looks. In this case, the opposite is true: the photos do not do this place justice because it is even better than it looks. The home is in a beautiful setting with no nearby neighbors--privacy!! And, from every window there are gorgeous views. It is beautifully furnished and very well maintained. The managers were very helpful and wanted to make sure that we were completely comfortable, recommending some events and restaurants. And, our four day stay there was wonderful--a day hiking, a day on the beach, a day at the Tillamook Cheese factory, a day at the lighthouse. Normally after a busy schedule, we'd come away saying that we need a vacation after our vacation. But here, the house is in such a serene setting and is so comfortably furnished, we felt relaxed the entire time. Without doubt, we'd highly recommend a stay here.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

The house is large and comfortable. The kitchen was adequate and the grounds were very well kept and pleasant. (Except for the bald mountain that the neighbors have created. If you don't mind your deposit being stolen, I would recommend the house. My group of 10 stayed at the house from the 11th of Sept. to the 17th of Sept. The rental conract (owner) states that my deposit would be returned to me by the 14 day after our departure. The owner is now 10 days overdue and he still has not returned the deposit nor has he contacted me. I am going to contact him in a day or two but I shouldn't have to do that. My guess is that he is going to tell me that the money had to be used as an additional cleaning fee or a furniture moving fee or something but this is simply the manner that owners use to make a lot of extra money. We left the house in an acceptable condition that should have been covered by the original cleaning fee. If that's his story, oh well. The stay was very nice but any subsequent renters should budget for the loss.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: I apologize for the delay in returning your deposit. I've been in the process of moving my family for the past month and have been exhausted. A simple email or phone call would have been the courteous thing to do. While staying at the home you had questions and you gave us a phone call and your issues were dealt with immediately.

My large family rented the retreat at whiskey creek for a week in August of 2012 for an annual family reunion. The place was as beautiful as it is shown in the photos, especially the grounds. It was also very private with no neighbors next door so we could be very loud and not disturb anyone. On our first evening at sunset, we had a whole herd of elk come right up to the edge of the grass area and we were all so thrilled as we have not seen elk in a big herd before. The house had plenty of room for the entire family and we had a good visit and rest. The younger crowd used the lawn area in the back for playing sports and the little ones used the long paved and circular driveway for riding bikes. The only negative we encountered was with the weather which was a little foggier than what we anticipated since a mile away it was really sunny and warm. I guess being by the bay and coast, fog in summer is to be expected. Also when they say check in time is 4PM it really is that. We were there a little early and waited until around 4:45 to be let in. This has to do with the need for cleaning the house between the renters and the cleaners did their best to clean the entire house in about 4 hours. We told them to take their time as we understood the pressure they were under. All in all we were very satisfied with the house and grounds.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Our family of 10 adults and 4 children stayed at Whiskey Creek for a long weekend. It is exactly like the photos depict. The property is absolutely gorgeous and so private. We loved the big deck in back for morning coffee and evening cocktail hour. The huge yard was so great for the little ones to run and play without worry of being near a road. The kids loved riding their bikes and scooters around on the circular path/driveway in the front of the house. All the bedrooms, baths and living areas were very nice, comfortable and clean. The kitchen was well equipped and big enough for many people to cook and work together at the same time. The owner and caretaker were polite and helpful. We had dinner the last night at The Schooner in Netarts. Friendly service and good food, we recommend the steamer clams - yummy garlicy broth! Oceanside is a few miles up the road and has a really nice beach. Don't miss Cape Lookout State Park only 5 miles away, great for picnics and beach fun. Of course Tillamook is close and has two big supermarkets and the cheese factory is a fun place to tour and eat the delicious ice cream! I would recommend this house to anyone wanting privacy and lots of space in and outdoors. It is a gem! We would definitely consider returning for another vacation. Thanks Steve and Greg!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.
