Alegranza condo description
Alegranza is a very exclusive retreat “designed for the senses” by renowned Mexican architect Carlos Herrera. The resort is a celebration of splendid scenes, fresh sea breezes, and Spanish architecture where comfort, quality features, and high-end finish are perfectly harmonized with class, elegance and Mexican charm.
Perched high above the City of San Jose del Cabo, Alegranza dominates the Bahia San Jose from Punta Gorda in East Cape to world famous Palmilla, offering magnificent unobstructed views to the Sea of Cortez, golf fairways, the estuary, Puerto Los Cabos and the Baja desert.
You are only a five-minute walk from pristine beaches, the Mayan golf course, and both the zolcalo and cathedral of San Jose del Cabo. Strolling the boulevards and courtyards of the village, shopping for cultural treasures, enjoying elegant dining and joining the salsa dancers of the Tropicana will give you memories that will last for a lifetime.
CLOSE YOUR EYES and just imagine a soft breeze touching your face as you sip a coffee on the terrace watching the sunrise over East Cape…. You can actually feel the stress of work and cold weather evaporate from your body and mind. You contemplate the day: should I stand under the waterfall for a massage, enjoy the gym and spa, sip Cabo Wabo tequila pool side, float in the Jacuzzi, play an evening game of tennis, become a Tom Watson challenger on the putting green, barbecue Sonora filet mignon and gigantic shrimp on the barbi, dance in the moonlight at the palapa or end the day with a Cohiba and cognac at the fire pit. Then you realize! You haven’t even left the resort to experience the wonder of Baja… you just smile, the holiday has just begun!
Life is an adventure only a short flight and a day away. Who knows; one the Alegranza owners, Enrique Iglesias may be sitting beside you poolside.
Within this gated community luxurious privacy exists where you can just enjoy the holiday as it unfolds or take advantage of the special concierge amenities available; maid service, manicure or massage, personal chef, world class golf, snorkel, scuba, fishing, quad trips to the desert, a personal driver for East Cape eco adventure, beach breaks at Santa Maria, or fun shopping and party times in Cabo San Lucas.
Cultural trips to Todo Santos, famous as a spiritual and holistic retreat as well as a destination for artists and musicians is only an hour and half away where you can wrap up the day with a stop at Hotel California or continue to La Paz, a bustling cosmopolitan city where you can experience a quiet evening of romance on the marina promenade.
Experiencing great food, wine and service is always a highlight of a holiday and Baja is world famous for its offerings. "El Violli" restaurant, located within the resort offers a dining experience cannot be matched anywhere else in the Baja. If you wish to have a romantic dinner at home or entertain on the terrace, Algeria’s professional staff will prepare and deliver to your doorstep. Numerous restaurants abound in San Jose del Cabo and the surrounding area and you can experience world class dining outside of the resort every night. If you wish to enjoy an evening of jazz at Deckmans, a romantic dinner overlooking the ocean at the Seven Seas in the Cabo Surf hotel or experience the incredible service and "Baja" culinary offerings all the while being serenaded by Mariachi bands, the Mexican courtyards of Tequila's, Salsitas, Morgan's, Casa Natalia, Tropicana, Habaneros to name a few, are only minutes away.
Our two-bedroom home located in the Alegria area of the resort has elevator access and is luxuriously appointed with sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean from all rooms. Just slide the floor to ceiling doors open and enjoy splendid views with breakfast in bed if you wish. Spacious open living and dining areas are complemented with an entertainment-designed kitchen featuring granite countertops, built in pantry, buffet, and complete culinary amenities including stainless steel appliances. Adjacent the kitchen one finds a laundry service area and coolers for the beach. With over 2,000 square feet of living area to relax in inclusive of a terrace 44 feet in length which overlooks the pool, waterfall, Jacuzzi, golf course and ocean you will be offered a life style that guaranties that you will never want to go back home. We didn't!
The terrace features sun lounges, marble bar, deep-seated "stay here forever" chairs, and a Mexican wrought iron table setting for outdoor dining and entertainment. Both bedrooms have king size beds, luxury bedding and feature private attached bathrooms finished in marble, with the master featuring a separate soaker tub.
Hacienda furnishings and original Mexican art complement the setting as does the Talavera marble flooring and 10-foot ceilings. State of the art stereo, wireless Internet, 40-inch plasma TV with Star Choice satellite, and a wealth of music and DVD's is on hand.
If you fancy a holiday with a minimum stay of three nights to a lifetime away, indulge yourself. Close the laptop, turn out the office lights, and treat yourself! You deserve it!
Los Mejores desos!

Luxury rental at an affordable price
Luxury rental at an affordable price
Our accommodation at the Alegranza exceeded our expectations. Our condo overlooked one of the pools and hot tubs on the property. We could watch the whales from our balcony and it was a short 15 minute walk to the beach. The grounds were very well maintained. There was an excellent on site restaurant with very friendly, professional waiters. We enjoyed the use of the gym daily. It was an easy walk to get groceries or go down town shopping or try some of the many restaurants so no need to rent a car but if you do need transportation a taxi usually cost around $5.00 for any in town trip. I would recommend the Alegranza to anyone looking for an affordable, quiet, relaxing vacation.

We stayed at Darryl & Sharon's condo from Jan. 9/2011 to Feb. 20/2011 and we would sure have loved to stay longer. As lovely as the pictures were on their VRBO site, they were nowhere near as beautiful as when we actually entered their condo. All their pocket doors were open to their large, very well-equipped patio and the ocean views were stunning. Needless to say, that's where we spent most of the next 6 weeks (Gary loved your swiss BBQ Darryl, thanks very much). The furniture was very comfortable, especially the king beds in your two master suites. This condo was equipped with almost everything that our condo back home has and Darryl, what a wonderful bonus to have Canadian satelite (sure great to watch our Vancouver Canucks games). We also really enjoyed your beautiful paintings, wall hangings and ornaments that you have placed throughout your home and because a couple of mornings were a little on the cool side, we very much appreciated the cozy, warm mexican blankets that you so thoughtfully provided (we had our morning coffee out on the patio every single morning). The weather in San Jose del Cabo is some of the nicest that we've seen anywhere in our travels and of course it's 100% opposite of the weather we get back home at this time of year. The Alegranza itself is beautifully designed and built in such a way as to ensure maximum privacy and magnificent views for everyone, and you can walk to some of the best restaurants/bars that you'll find anywhere. We also found the Alegranza staff to be very knowledgeable and helpful during our stay. We would especially like to thank Barbara and Flor for all their help and tips on what to see and do in the Los Cobos area. The Rino tour by "Carisuva" was super fun - we had such a great time and we really enjoyed our guide, Martin, who spoke excellent english and made our trip very interesting, exciting and safe at the same time (thanks so much Martin). Also, the "Cabo Legend" is another great excursion - we went whale watching and snorkeling and its crew were absolutely delightful and lots of fun (thanks Toni). The evening on the Fiesta Cabaret was above our expectations - delicious food, interesting tour and superb entertainment. Also, thanks to Javier and Pedro for showing us some of your beautifully furnished condos. We have travelled the Los Cobos area for the past 10 years, but this is the first time we will be going back to the same place twice and we are already looking forward to it.

About: Sharon and I have spend most of our lives in Yukon Canada, north of the 60th parallel and when we were presented with the opportunity to own a home "in the sun" with the ocean at our doorstep all the while surrounded by the warm and friendship extended our way by our friends in historic San Jose del Cabo we could not resist! This is a true paradise for "fun in the sun" and escape from the hectic pace of work. No more scraping ice off the windshields or minus 40 below! We hope that a stay at our home will be enough to melt the snow in your front yard just thinking about it. Mi casa es su casa. Sharon and Darryl Weigand
We have been vacationing in the Baja since the early 1990's and when we were given the opportunity to purchase in Alegranza we jumped at the chance. The great climate, safety of the area and the mixture of resort benefits and adventure offered in southern Baja were always special but now our lives were further enriched when we were given the opportunity of ownership in Alegranza where the quality of construction, great Mexican design and finishing of the resort far surpassed any other resort in the whole of southern Baja. The icing on the cake so to speak was that the resort was located in San Jose del Cabo where one could take advantage of everything that a Spanish Colonial town had to offer. Perched on the highest point of land in the city we were offered grand vistas of the Seas of Cortez, and we were within minutes of walking to the old town, estuary and beach. Alegranza offers a sense of community to the owners and quests which we enjoy and now we have a real home where we can experience and reciprocate the hospitality of our Mexican friends, have the opportunity to be immersed in a wonderful culture and of course enjoy the adventure to be found in both the beach and desert of Baja!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Our home has been furnished with the help of many local designers whom have found treasures for us from all over Mexico as well as through many trips Sharon and I have made to mainland Mexico and the interior of Baja to acquire furnishings, art and crafts that create a blend of Hacienda living accented with modern works. We further complimented our home with imported furniture, art and amenities from around the world which further enhance the great quality of life we experience in our condo as well as allowing us to experience a great sense of escape from our every day lives back in North America. When we arrive at our condo we always have a feeling that "we made it" and this sets the stage for favorite moments such as..... Waking up in the morning, opening the curtains, and gazing from bed at Palmilla and the ocean all the while smelling Starbucks coffee brewing and listening to Andrea Bocelli....Wait! A morning walk along the San Jose estuary or casting a fishing line in the surf as the sun rises, watching from the terrace as whales surface on their migration to Magdellena Bay .. drinks in the late of night with the sky crusty with stars and the twinkling lights of cruise ships sailing by...sitting gazing at the local sculpture "beneath the Baja" Jorge created and positioned on the terrace and oh...... the list goes on.
