  We left Long Island in the early winter, having already experienced two months of snow, ice and bitter cold. We were delighted to arrive at the Casa Delfin and were struck by its unique warmth and beauty. The house sits seamlessly in nature, looking over and backing into a natural swimming and snorkelling pool. For those who appreciate underwater worlds, this pool offers a peek into a different universe filled with magnificent fish. We had a blast picking up local fish at the Cueva del Pescador and cooking them in the well-equipped kitchens of the Casa Deflin. We walked to the beaches on the open Caribbean Sea, and also made it into town to drink Margaritas and watch the sunset. We would do it again in a heartbeat and hope Casa Delfin will be available to accommodate us the next time our schedule permits such a trip.

  With 5 bedrooms, the house offered us a lot of space and comfort for 9 adults and 3 little ones. Very spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. The house is clean and nicely decorated. The cleaning lady and her husband were very kind and always ready to help us in what we needed. We really enjoyed staying in Casa Delfin.

  We enjoyed our time with the whole family in Casa Delfin. The place is so beautiful and confortable, surrounded with nature and great views of the lake and surrounding trees.

  Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

  The owner is quite friendly and was very responsive to all of our concerns. That being said, there were concerns. The villa needs a good, thorough scrubbing and some updating. The home does not feel or appear to be very clean. The kitchen had a strange smell, which was rather off putting. As it turns out, the sink was leaking into the wooden cabinets causing the smell. One evening, dirty water leaked all over the floor after we tried to do the dishes. We had to wash all of the dishes by hand because the dishwasher did not work. We did not use the little pool on the roof at all because the heater did not seem to work. There were problems with hot water in several of the showers. The home does not offer a well manicured yard, nor does it have a nice deck area for entertaining (most of the villas offer this). Our grill was too dirty for use, so we had to use the neighbor's. This would be a decent budget option, if it were for a budget price. Many of the surrounding villas were cleaner, more updated and offered far more in the way of outdoor amenities (nice deck area, pool, etc.) The property is for sale and you can see that in the lack of care and investment. Again, the owner was very friendly and responsive to concerns, but I would go somewhere else next time.

  Owner response: We am sure that these guests were sincere when writing this response, but we really don't understand. We were next door during their stay, our manager lives on the property, and they had booked Casa Delfin through a very responsive agency. During their stay they did not bring up these issues to anyone and we are all stunned to read their review - blindsided may be a better word. Since we had just completed some significant repairs and painting, the whole house had been cleaned, checked, and inspected in anticipation of their arrival. Our maids cleaned the house every day (except Sunday) and I was there a couple of times so there was ample opportunity to raise issues. There was no sign of the leak in the kitchen prior to their arrival and when our manager was notified it was fixed immediately . There is little we can do after the fact so please, if you ever stay with us or anyone else, please let us know immediately if there is anything wrong or if there is anything that needs attention: we, our staff, and our support team are always available to help.

  This was a return visit and our favorite place to stay in Akumal! Perfect for our family and extended family with so many areas in the house for togetherness or some privacy when needed. The Yal Ku unfortunately has been discovered by tour groups but we found if we went out in the early morning it still felt like "our Lagoon". Afternoons were much too crowded for our tastes but still lovely to look at. Rene and Lucy are the best. They prepared a wonderful birthday dinner for my husband and couldn't have been more gracious. We love Casa Delfin and Akumal but much more crowded now than we remembered, bound to happen I suppose with such a beautiful spot. Look forward to our next visit.

  The wedding was beautiful! The Villa was lovely! The rooms were very nice and the couple taking care of us were friendly, helpful and very accessible. The view was beautiful and my husband loved swimming in the lagoon. It was very convenient to town; yet, secluded enough to allow for relaxing. We had a wonderful time with our group at the villa!!   Casa Delfin was perfect for hosting our family during the wedding. The big dining area held 35-40 people one evening. Our family and friends were impressed with the building and the location. I appreciated the nice art pieces.

  We had a throughly enjoyable time.... The Yal-Ku Lagoon being in our backyard super..... Rene & Lucy worked real well.... No big thing, but the steps into the Lagoon were very slippery....   Casa Delfin was the perfect villa for us. The rooms are spacious and well-seperated, each with their own washrooms with showers. The child-gate for the stairs made the main level very easy to take care of young ones. The location on the laggon was perfect and the lagoon's snorkeling was well beyond our expectations, as was the snorkeling at near by Akumal Bay. The local resuraunts were pricey but very good, especially Lucy's Too at Akumal Peublo. I highly recomend Akumal as a vacation spot, but especially this Villa in particular beacuse: 1) Child Friendly (even high chair and playpen) 2) Lagoon direct access 3) Roof top pool 4) Excellent Caretakers 5) Friendly Owners 6) Good price 7) Can house a large group with plenty of personal space 8) Good appliances in Kitchen (Ice maker in fridge!!!)

  The villa was perfect for us. We were 8 adults and 5 children ages 10 to 3 and being on the lagoon was wonderful.
