The condo is in a peaceful location within walking distance to Maalaea harbor for whale watching and snorkeling excursions and restaurants, a 10 min drive to Kihei and 20 minutes to Lahaina. Fantastic view of the bay from the Lanai, especially while having breakfast in the morning when the sun is sparkling off the water! We saw whales a few times from the Lanai (whale season is coming to an end though..). Lis' beautifully decorated condo is very comfortable and equipped with everything you need to cook with. Beach gear is provided as well. Rent this condo, no need to look any further - you will enjoy it and it's convenient location immensely.

We had a great stay here! The condo was perfect for us. The remodeling of the unit was a-som There were 2 of us in here and we had plenty of room! The view is gorgeous and the grounds of this place are groomed so nicely. Thank you for letting us stay in your condo and for the use of everything! Hopefully someday we will be back and we will definitely look into staying here again!

Very private ocean front lanai was great for whale and turtle watching as well as the beautiful sunrises and sunsets! We had a great view of a monk seal that visited the little mini beach by the condo. The sunshade helped to keep the heat of the sun out during the morning, and the rest of the day, the breeze kept the unit nice and cool. It was very nice to be comfortable without shutting ourselves in with air conditioning. On windy days, the lanai is nicely protected and a great space to spend time. Very well maintained unit with all the basics we needed for a perfect holiday.

Stunning Sunrises! We loved how clean and beautifully decorated the space was. Having the use of amenities was such a plus. We were so close to everything, yet away from it all. Lis was delightful and made sure all of needs were met. Pack a lunch, save your money, and snorkel at Makena Beach. Mahlo.

I need to make a comment about snorkeling at Makena Beach for those who may read this and are unaware ... sometimes, like the day you were there, snorkeling is an amazing experience with calm waters. Normally however, Makena State Beach (also known as Big Beach) is known for its slamming-against-the-beach wave action and undertow. Beautiful to watch, but very treacherous and for experts only. Do be careful and ask the lifeguards that are now at the beach several hours a day about the conditions before venturing out. "If in doubt, don't go out" is their mantra and for good reason. Makena has had a reputation for terrible accidents and injuries ... The good news; you are spot on in finding one of the most beautiful beaches on earth! More good news; if Big Beach is too rough to go in the water, there are plenty of great alternatives nearby. Experience a piece of paradise!

Aloha. My husband and I just returned from a wonderful week-long stay at this amazing condo. It quickly became our "home away from home", having all of the comforts we needed or could have wanted. The photos are true to what we had, but they do not show the love and care that has been put into making this "home" the bit of paradise it truly is. The owner (Lis) was available at any time if we had a question or concern and was more than pleased to be of assistance if needed. The condo is very well kept and I didn't feel the need to do any type of cleaning upon entering it for the first time---I have been known to do that sort of thing. It is truly centrally located and we were only minutes from just about anything. Even to travel to the other side of the island took just about 15-20 minutes. Being centrally located, we didn't waste time having to locate beaches, etc. They were right in front of us within minutes. Truly a great location. If you have forgotten anything, chances are Lis has it somewhere in the condo. A quick look will probably produce whatever you are in need of. **Thanks for the lotion, Lis! :) One note to any visitors---Please get a "store card" when you go for groceries. We stopped at the Safeway store and I was taken by the cost of things without a store card. It only takes a minute to stop at the service desk and sign up for one. Saved me A LOT of money on the 2 grocery trips we made. Also, there is a discount/pharmacy type store (Longs)---we were informed that it is now owned by CVS, so if you have a CVS card, use it. We can't thank Lis enough for providing a wonderful environment for us while we were there. Also, having a security door at the main entrance was also wonderful. It provided us with a constant breeze to the unit. Thank you Lis for sharing your little piece of paradise with us and so many others. Those who might visit in the future will definitely be pleased.

From the time we arrived at the condo we felt as if were home. It is beautifully keep and it feels like you think the Island should. It had everything we needed. My husband pick it from all others becouse of your view. We now see that is so much more then just the view. We would love to stay again if we make it back to Maui.

We flew to Maui after spending a week on Oahu. The 1 bedroom condo is clean, comfortable and decorated Island style. Also the grounds are very well maintained. We knew the condo will be well-equipped but it exceeded our expectations. We had all we needed, even everything for a relaxing day on the beach. After a eventful day we enjoyed sitting on the lanai with the binoculars and we saw our first monk seal right outside the condo (unfortunately whale season was already over) Lis is a wonderful host, always ready to help. She provides all the basic info you need (plus suggestion). The location is close to the airport and a good starting point to explore the island.

Loved our stay at this Condo. Lis was so helpful before and during our stay. The condo is in excellent condition with a beautiful lani. Nothing better than sitting on the lani eating breakfast in the morning. Perfect for a couple looking for a quite place after a busy day. The condo is central to everything on the island. So many extras included was much appreciated...beach towels, beach chairs, coolers and so on. Just a fabulous place owned by some really great people.

What a magical and romantic place to spend our honeymoon! We loved the oceanfront lanai and beautiful decor of this condo! The owner was extremely helpful and friendly--her assistance before and during our stay made our time on the island all the more enjoyable. The condo was stocked with all the extras--beach chairs and towels, giant binoculars for whale watching, kitchen utensils, etc. that really made the difference in our stay! Free secured wireless internet, too! Central location to everything on the island without all the hustle and bustle of the resort communities. We could not be happier with our choice to stay at this beautiful condo!

It's a home in paradise!

My husband and I spent two wonderful weeks in the Island Sands condo during February and March 2011. It quickly became our "home in paradise"! The condo is well-maintained and beautifully decorated. The location is central to everything on Maui which made it easy for us to take our daily excursions to all of the adventures that Maui has to offer. Lis has been most helpful in managing the reservation and in suggesting places for us to visit. But, you may not want to leave the condo- the view from the lanai is breathless and we were thrilled watching the whales which seemed to be everywhere. The pool and barbecue area is situated right by the ocean and the grounds are filled with lovely gardens. The nearby beach allows for long walks along the water. Sleeping to the rushing sound of the waves was so soothing. This is definitely the place we would come back to on our next trip to Maui!

Thank you for sharing your condo! It's a beautiful place in a great location & you've provided so many extras. It was a great home base for our stay here in Maui. We appreciated all the pictures and information on the VRBO site & were pleased to find out that they were true and accurate. The weather has been wonderful while we were here. A big improvement form the morning we left when the temperature was 1 degree! The whale watching from the lanai has been terrific, as was the Pacific Whale Foundation boat trip. We've had lots of good food while we were here, so it would be hard to recommend any place, but Beach Bums is fun, the smoothies from the hot dog deli shop (at Maalaea Harbor Shops) are super and Oceans in Kihei have been favorites. It's been a very good 40th anniversary trip!

When one views an online description of a vacation property, there is often a question of accuracy and reliability. Are the views really the way they look in the photos? Is the property as clean and up to date as it appears? I am happy to report that this property is even more spectacular than its description. The ocean views are stunning, the condo is renovated and tastefully appointed, and the owners have thoughtfully provided everything one might need for a vacation of a lifetime! It sits a very short walk from a small, quiet beach park with a community garden. I’ll never forget the fragrant aroma of the Plumeria flowers, or the sounds of the exotic birds singing as I went for my morning walk. Nor will I forget the peaceful sound of the waves gently breaking just outside my window. And I stayed during the busiest week of the year—through Christmas and New Year’s Day! I will surely be back again and again.

The best view of Maalaea Bay!

What a wonderful surprise when we arrived and found the condo is a direct, oceanfront view. We were there during whale season and were fortunate enough to view a number of whales with their calves. A great added bonus were the BIG binoculars on a tri-pod in the room, which made the whale watching a very up-close and personal experience...absolutely amazing! The condo is beautifully decorated and has every amenity we needed. Since the owners live on Maui, it is maintained well...and they're available should we have any questions or concerns. We look forward to our next visit in the same condo!
