Bottle Bay cabin description
This 800 square foot log cabin is only 12 years old and is located at the end of the paved portion of Eureka Road, near the town of Sagle. There are no residential homes on either side, but neighbors below have their shops near by. Overlooking Bottle Bay on Lake Pend Oreille, you are separated only by beautiful tall pines. It is a quiet area. The log cabin feel is wonderful, warm in the winter and stays cool in the summer.
Across Bottle Bay is the Bottle Bay Marina where boat slips are available for rent as well as boats, kayaks, paddle boats and other water toys. The fishing and sailing is fabulous on the lake. Also, they have a wonderful outdoor restaurant open until after Labor Day. You can row or even swim there from the cabin. The walkway easement to the lake has a swim ladder. The drive there is 1/4 mile. And 9 miles from the cabin is Sandpoint with lots of things to do in the area-fairs, concerts, festivals, arts and crafts. Sandpoint is a friendly walking/shopping/arts and crafts/restaurant town. Fun specialty shops.
In the winter, it is a ski paradise as Schweitzer mountain is close by offering skiing, snow boarding and a great gondola ride which runs all year long. Lots of bike paths and hiking in the summer and restaurants with lake views. Schweitzer is a short ride from Sandpoint, also offering summer concerts, arts, more restaurants, car shows, entertainment, shopping. Silverwood theme park and Boulder Beach are open through October, just 15 miles south on US 95-great rides, wave pools, roller coasters. Lake Coeur d'Alene is yet another highlight, 15 miles south from Silverwood with exceptional golf courses, lake cruises, restaurants, hiking, beach, parasailing, bike trails, fishing, Hayden Lake, parks, theater, fabulous shopping opportunities.

We stayed here the summer of 2011. The house itself is small but all right. Definitely had some problems with mice. There were mouse droppings throughout the house. They had a problem with bats too, but we didn't see anything. The biggest disappointment is the fact that your lake access is a half a meter end of the pathway boardwalk. Two people can sit on it if they squish real tight. All the rest of the docks are your neighbours. We ended up using the dock of an empty lot, which was for sale. Legally every time we went there we were trespassing. Other nuisance was the movie night put on by the person who owns the big house in front of the cabin. You would like to sit on the porch watching the stars and listening to the crickets and all of the sudden the whole canyon is shaking from his speakers. He is hauling out a projector and huge speakers has no regards for his neighbours. By the way your main entrance is right on the only road that goes up to the rest of the mountain. If you have young kids you could not have a relaxed moment because of that road. Not to mention that it is dusty. If you look at the pictures you are expecting a quiet tucked away location. Couldn't be farther from the truth. I hope that the sofa in the living room fall apart already and was replaced. You could feel the springs. The cabin itself is cute and cozy. But the rest is on the border of false advertising. Would NOT RECOMMEND IT to anybody. I WOULD RECOMMEND Bottle Bay Marina. The brothers are great. They will rent you a really good boat for half the money you would pay in Sandpoint.

Owner response: We are sorry that your stay was not a good one. We like all feedback good or bad. I would like to comment on some of your points. We have never seen a mouse in the cabin. The mouse droppings were bat droppings. One is as bad as the other. The area has had a large influx of bats. The house below had to put a new roof on because of the bats. It is illegal to kill bats in Idaho The best way to get rid of them is to wait for them to migrate in September and then seal all cracks. We are in the process of doing the inside now. Keeping a log cabin tightly chinked is fairly difficult because of the shifting of the logs I’m surprised at your reaction to the lake access. I thought the picture showed it fairly clearly. The cabin is in an area of high recreational use. The houses are very close together. The lots are 50 ft wide. Several houses are vacation rentals. The lake is there. People on vacation are there to have fun. The house next door with the speakers and projector is a vacation rental. We feel bad about your situation with the neighbor. Maybe it would have helped to go to talk to him. But we have no control over his actions any more than we have over your trespassing. The main entrance is located 25 ft from the road. Eureka Road is paved to within two lots of the cabin and from there it is gravel. I believe there are “children at play” and a 15 miles per hour signs on the road. The cabin is not fenced from the road. The lot is approximately 50 x 100 with garages/shops on either side. The sleeper sofa will be fixed or replaced. Thank you for the info on Bottle Bay Marina. Former tenants have rented and moored their boats there. Hopefully your comments and our response will be of benefit to future browsers on VBRO
