A gem in the heart of Tucson. We loved being in the city, in a real neighborhood. Convenient on-street parking. The apartments are bright, thoughtfully and uniquely decorated, well-appointed and immaculate. The outdoor spaces are wonderful for relaxing and enjoying the sun. Tim's expert "insider" tips, insights and advice and his friendly, easy-going manner made our stay in Tucson so much better than it could have been! There is so much to do and see in the Tucson area that is readily accessible from this location. We will definitely return :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This studio was great for our 5-day visit to Tucson as part of a bigger southwestern vacation. We have visited the city before, usually as part of a business trip when we stayed at a resort, so we tried something different, which worked out very well. The apartment was clean and well-equipped, and Tim was on hand to answer any questions we had. We especially appreciated the washer and dryer in the back, as this was the midpoint in our trip. We were able to park on the street right beside the entry any time we returned. We ate breakfast in, packed lunches to take with us every day, and got pizza to eat in one night (Renee's Organic Oven -- a bit of a drive but very good). We especially enjoyed Blue Willow Restaurant, and also had dinner at Cup Cafe at Hotel Congress on Tim's recommendation (sat outside, very nice), and walked over for burgers one night at Barrio Brewing Company (sat outside there as well). On our way to Tucson from Santa Fe we went to the Chiricahua National Monument, which was awesome. In Tucson we always enjoy the Desert Museum, and took a docent tour this time, an excellent addition. We hiked in Sabino Canyon, went to a University of Arizona baseball game and visited the Photography Center there. It was a great visit, and the studio was perfect for our needs. We would certainly recommend it to others. Thank you Tim and Mary!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We visited Tucson for a month, mid March through mid April. This studio apartment is located in a lovely historic district and was an easy drive to many restaurants, shops, the Museum, Saguaro Nat'l Park, and so many other wonders that Tucson offers.Upon arrival we found a very clean, well-appointed studio and even had a container of half and half in the refrigeration for our morning coffee. There was a basket of toiletries in the bathroom and delicious French Roast Coffee already provided. The owners are the nicest folks and they try to accomodate in whatever way they can. I would not hesitate to stay here again, the next time we visit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We've stayed here twice now and can't wait to return. Tim and Mary are wonderful: friendly, helpful, and considerate. They are very knowledgeable about local attractions - history, culture, music venues, and especially great restaurants that only the locals know about! They also went out of their way to help us out with even little things (such as whether there would be food served at the local event we were going to). They really made our stay exceptional! The apartment is always spotless, all the furnishings modern and very comfortable (especially the bed - most comfortable bed we've found on all of our travels!). Everything is exactly as described in the ad. We liked the extra touches too: nice soaps in the bathrooms, bottles of water in the fridge, interesting books to read, lots information about Tucson attractions and maps of Tucson. The garden is also great for hanging out at breakfast, reading or sketching. The location is perfect also - we loved the 17th Street Market, nearby parks and farmers markets, downtown and 4th street. Don't miss the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We arrived on January first for an eighteen day vacation and were cheerfully greeted promptly by our host Mary. Having a small SUV load of clothes, food and recreational equipment, I was happy to be able to unload a few steps away from the door. The on-road parking is close and very well lit. The clean and cheery studio apartment was as depicted in literature and pictures with a firm king bed and warm comfortable blankets, plenty of kitchen supplies and utensils and the shower's water pressure is incredible (best ever). The T.V. did not have ESPN, so to watch the Wisconsin Badger football team get creamed by Oregon Ducks in the Rose Bowl, we took a 3 block stroll over to the Barrio Brewing Company which we found to be a very friendly with excellent food and a great variety of brews. The neighborhood grocery store was a great source for fresh fruit, vegetables and all our culinary needs. We throughly enjoyed a few meals on the garden terrace and sharing award winning Wisconsin cheeses in the warm evening air. Tim was very knowledgeable and a great resource for points of interest and history of Tucson and surrounding areas. We loved hiking whether it was the fifteen to thirty minute to downtown, fourth street and the University of Arizona or several hour desert, canyon and mountain day hikes. We will recommend the Armory Park Studio to our family and fiends.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Loved my stay at this cute little studio. The place was very clean. The bed was comfortable. Working A/C and heat. Armory Park is such a charming neighborhood and within walking distance of downtown. Had the weather been a little less rainy and a little warmer I would have used the pretty patio area. I would highly recommend this studio!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Excellent place to stay in Tucson. Very clean, owner was very affable and accommodative, the kind of person you feel comfortable with immediately. Location is in a very peaceful and fairly close to everything (downtown, restaurants, etc.). I had a lot of cash on hand and felt that the apartment was very safe to leave my money in when I would be out. There's a nice little kitchen that I did not use. This is a very nice place for very reasonable rates.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

I am a former Tucson resident now in DC, and visited 5 days in early Sept. for a wedding. I love the Armory Park neighborhood - one of the only truly walkable districts in Tucson - so was happy to find this quaint casita run by a lovely welcoming couple. Big plus was location - strolling the neighborhood streets with all the historic homes, and walking to the independent restaurants/cafes, funky shops, and galleries of nearby Congress/Broadway (about 8-9 blocks away). The proprietors live in the main house and the two casitas (guesthouses) are behind their home on the property, a courtyard is between them (main house back door to casitas' front doors). It is a relaxing space, with little sitting areas, tables/chairs, trees and vegetation - very organic and old-Tucson looking. I had my coffee (complimentary thanks to my gracious hosts) there every morning and relaxed there in the evenings. It was a perfect place to unwind. Photos of the casita are accurate. It had plenty of space for me and would be fine for a couple. The BR/living area had a comfortable firm bed, bureau, lamps, TV and two arm chairs. TV volume was a bit low while a/c on, but otherwise fine. The full kitchen had a small table/chairs, and was nicely equipped. The bath had shower, plenty of towels, and a closet with iron/ ironing board. The place was cute and very clean. Laundry was on premises behind the casitas (thru a rear door), although I didn't need it. Late summer meant some a/c during the day, but at night I left both doors (front and back) open and just locked the security screens and slept like a baby. Owners were attentive to my needs and offered suggestions for local restaurants and market to pick up groceries. I could have gone carless, but chose to rent one to visit other areas of the city, which I recommend. Street parking is easy and close. No stairs to contend with. Larger parties could rent both casitas. In short, if you tend to like chain hotels or need high-end, modern accomodations, perfer to drive over walk when there's the choice, or generally appreciate all things suburbia, there are plenty of other options and districts in Tucson that might suit you better. But if you value walkable, historic, artsy downtown districts, and love to stay in quaint, older homes with character, this is your spot. I loved this little place and hope it will be available whenever I visit Tucson.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We very much enjoyed our six days at the Armory Park Studios. As other reviewers have also mentioned, the location is fabulous. The neighborhood feels very safe and we did lots of walking around to the other downtown historical areas, the 4th Ave shopping district, and the University. In addition, if you have a car (we did), the central location makes trips to the west (Desert Museum, Saguaro West, Kitt Peak area), the east/northeast (Saguaro East, Sabino Canyon) and the south (Patagonia) very easy. The apartment itself was delightful: spotlessly clean and thoughtfully furnished and equipped. My husband (a coffee addict) especially appreciated the bag of high-quality coffee that was provided. We didn't get to meet Mary, but Tim is great -- very friendly and helpful. We wholeheartedly recommend this property to anyone wanting to spend a few days in Tucson for any reason.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent 4 nights at Armory Park studio and it was perfect for us. We walked to downtown, to the UofA, to the great 17th St. Market (even tho we had a car), and enjoyed the quiet, the comfortable chairs (inside and out), the garden setting, as well as the convenient location. We go to Tucson every few months to visit grandchildren, and we will definitely return to this studio. We highly recommend this for visiting parents, or grandparents, or anyone wanting some comfortable space away from a hotel.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

I had a great time at this really cute apartment. Thanks so much guys for making my Tucson visit so fun. The apartment offers all the extras, and that makes a big difference. Really good soap and toiletries are definitely a plus for me. Remembering the details too. The seasoned traveler, I forgot my toothbrush (duh) but there was one waiting for me here. Plus the coffee was excellent. That from a coffee snob. Had fun relaxing on the patio in the mornings. The historic neighborhood was fun to walk through. These hosts go out of their way to make your stay perfect. Thanks again. I'll definitely be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I had a very good experience staying at the Armory Park Studio/Cottage. My son is at U of A which is just a mile or two away, so within easy driving distance or even within biking distance - it's flat and the owners can usually offer a complimentary bike [with lock] to use. Parking around the University can be difficult or expensive. The downtown Tucson area is probably a 15 minute walk away. The studio is much like a little cottage and so offers great privacy and is well equipped for all basic needs - nothing fancy and no frills [although coffee, cream and sodas are provided] and well maintained. The owners are friendly, knowledgable and helpful. I prefer a place and a location with a little character rather than a "corporate"-style hotel room, so the Studio provides a very economic alternative to a hotel chain! The Desert Museum is definitely worth a visit - not your typical museum! I plan to return again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this Armory Park apartment. It is on the small side of things, but the wall-bed worked as easily as advertised, so bedroom quickly became a nicely sized and cheerful living room. Spic-and-span throughout, and much appears to new. I was here on work but did enjoy the on-site hosts. They were very friendly and knowledgeable about the city and region. No complaints come to mind. Except didn't have enough time to walk around the neighborhood, where I saw many Queen Ann Victorians and other period homes (period architecture is one of my hobbies). Next trip I plan to NOT be working! Thanks to Tim and Mary for a very pleasant stay. Marty CandeloRecommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We loved this neat and cozy studio with its just-right, understated, southwestern decor. The bed was comfy and, unlike many places we have stayed, it had chairs that were just right for sitting and reading. Tim and Mary were relaxed and attentive hosts who made sure the studio had all the amenities needed, plus a few more. We'll stay here again when we return to Tucson.Did you find this review helpful?
