  Taken from Guest Feedback Sheet: Beautiful sunrise from the fantastic windowfront walk (deck). Located close to the quaint town of Southwest Harbor. Walking distance from many great shops, restaurants, the pier, etc. Very affordable price. Close enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia, yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful home in Southwest Harbor! We had a wonderful time and will be sure to contact you when we return to Maine in the future.

  Taken from handwritten note: Dear Becky, Just a quick note to let you know we are home and just how much we enjoyed our stay in your beautiful state. The house was perfect, almost like being home. It beat our expectations (very nice!). I didn't do anything on line because I hate signing up for anything - I get enough spam. We had a wonderful time and everything was exactly the way it was advertised. Had a great time and will recommend this home to our friends. I hope your next guests enjoyed it as much as we did.   Great property overlooking the harbor. Well equiped and maintained. Plenty of room. I would definitely stay there again if going to that part of Maine..

  We loved it, we were sad the lobster place across the street had closed but loved Beals instead! We walked for ice cream each night. The tv was nice for the olympics, the kitchen was well stocked and we made lobster twice! Hiked and spent the days at the park, we had people from age 6 all the way to 82 and everyone enjoyed it!! comfortable beds!!

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

  Owner response: Sounds like our decision this season to upgrade to a flat-screen HDTV was just in time for the Olympics...yay!

  This was my first visit to Maine and I really enjoyed my visit. Harbor Daze was very clean and had nice kitchen except the two large heating elements were not the appropriate size so frying pans were always uneven. Need to be replaced with correct elements. The upstairs bedroom window (round one looking over harbor) needs a new screen; the one provided kept falling out of the window. So we were biten by n=mosquitos at night and I will probably have to be checked for West Nile virus when I get home. The deck was unsafe. There were about fifty nail heads sticking out of the deck where you could rip open your feet. We had 2 little boys with us and we were concerned about their safety. 2 of the people staying here cut their feet on the protruding nails. And one corner of the deck moved when people moved across it. Another safety issue. When we were out A GREAT TIME!

  Owner response: Week after week, we receive excellent marks and positive comments from our guests who fill out our "How Was Your Vacation" feedback sheets. We love to hear that our guests have enjoyed their stay at Harbor Daze, but we also solicit comments so that we can address issues quickly as they arise. Since we are completely booked throughout the season, we rely heavily on our guests and cleaning crew to let us know when repairs are needed. Our cleaners do inspect the house each week as they clean, and we make needed repairs and replacements immediately. No house is immune to wear and tear with regular use. But some issues do not necessarily present themselves until the house is actually being “lived” in. We pride ourselves on addressing issues and making repairs and replacements as soon as they are brought to our attention. We certainly would have sent someone right over to Harbor Daze to address the issues mentioned if they had contacted us during their stay. We are local, own the marina just down the street, and have a staff that can respond to issues quickly. We want our guests to enjoy their time while staying at our cottage, and work hard to provide a safe and comfortable vacation home that we, ourselves, would enjoy staying at. When reading this review, we think it is important to note that this reviewer also filled out one of two "How Was Your Vacation" feedback sheets. On the top of the feedback sheet, the following comment was left by another couple staying at the house with the reviewer: "Please excuse our one adult (below) that wasn't feeling well. Everything was good." This couple also filled out a separate feedback sheet with comments about nails on the deck (which have been fixed) and excellent marks on cleanliness and furnishings.

  This was the first vacation rental we have ever booked on line before. From the minute I talked with Becky she was like talking to someone I knew for years. Harbor Daze was clean and spacious enough for my wife and two teen age kids to spread out. The views from the deck of Southwest Harbor were really nice as were the people in the local shops and restaurants. The island was beautiful and so glad we made a last minute decision to drive up Cadillac Mt. where the views were breathtaking. I highly recommend the nature cruise out of Bar Harbor if you like to see eagles and seals in their natural environments. We have recommended Harbor Daze to several friends who are considering it for next year's vacation. Thank you again Becky for making our vacation a most memorable one.

  We loved our stay in May 2006 when it was only ourselves and we loved our stay this week now with our three girls. They also loved it. Southwest Harbor is a great place to stay on MDI. You may see some of our friends!

  Comfortable living room set up. Beds were great - just the right level of firmness. House is reasonably well stocked with cookware, etc. Very convenient location and a gorgeous view - we would stay here again.

  "Becky, Everything was wonderful and there were no disappointments. From the moment we first spoke until we checked out last Saturday, it was an absolute pleasure. We have never rented site unseen like that before and have heard all the horror stories. We will recommend you t anyone that asks. The area was really nice and will go back again in the future. The house was very clean when we arrived. Thank you."

  This was our second visit to Acadia, but our first time staying in Harbor Daze. We found the house very comfortable and well-kept. When we arrived, the lawn was freshly mowed and the house was very clean. You can easily walk in to the downtown area of Southwest Harbor for lunch at the Quietside Cafe (which has surprisingly good pizza) or across the street to the harbor to have breakfast at Grumpy's (which we would highly recommend). We cooked most of our meals at the house and found the kitchen to be adequate for everything we wanted to make, which made the overall trip that much more affordable. We would highly recommend Harbor Daze and hope to stay there again next time we head up to Maine!

  Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car.

  View of harbor was great and it is a guiet place to stay. A great breakfast and lunch place in the strip mall a half mile away. Buy your lobsters on the docks across the road. South Harbor is a lot quieter and cheaper place to stay than Bar Harbor. I would go back there in a minute, but my wife became ill and the way home and died of cancer two months later. It is a absolute perfect place if you are doing the marathon. It is a quarter mile from the finish line.

  We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed our stay at the Harbor Daze. The view is beautiful and the accomodations very adequate. We hiked and canoed and cooked lobsters a few days... We went to the airport and went on a glider ride-it was awesome ! We ate in town at a couple local restaurants and enjoyed the views from the deck.We did a day trip to Greenville, Moosehead Lake to look for moose and we found them- so neat and we got some great photos..
