Our 2 families (including 5 children) have stayed here twice for skiing. This beautiful house is spacious and very clean, and we had everything we needed. We also appreciate having the new wi-fi connection! It's a quick drive to the resort area and the homeowners provide a parking pass which allowed us to park closer to the resort. The homeowners are very responsive and accommodating. A couple things of note: we were not able to get cell phone service (AT&T) at the house but we could use the landline for local & long-distance calls. We only needed to make one long-distance call to the homeowner about a leak under the kitchen sink. A plumber was at the house within 15 minutes! Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the stairs to the loft with the king-size futon are very narrow with no railing (shown in one of the photos). They were fine for our older kids but not for the younger. Overall, another wonderful stay!
Owner response:Thanks for the wonderful review. I want to claify that our house is located in the heart of the resort and that the reviewer meant to say the parking pass lets you park right next to the ski area in the owner's lot and not right next to the resort as stated in the review.

Our children and grandsons joined us for four days and nights here at Wintergreen and we had a wonderful time. The home is as pretty as pictured and very comfortable. We all enjoyed the hikes down the back yard into the valley and up the other side of the mountain each and every day. The very well supplied wood pile and starter sticks made getting a fire going in the stove very easy. Having our own VRBO rental on the coast of NC for the last ten years we know what it takes to keep up a vacation rental and from our experience we can tell you that this rental is Outstanding and we hope to someday return and stay again.

The pictures of the home are lovely - the house is extrodinary. We all had an absolutely wonderful time in this comfortable and well appointed home. The home is very open and bright with windows everywhere to enjoy the beautiful fall scenery. The kids loved playing outside and we were happy with how close we were to the lodge. We have family with severe allergies and the home was very clean and had everything we needed for a great weekend. Owners were so gracious and provided us with everything we needed to enjoy our short time in the house. We were at Wintergreen for the Tough Mudder and hope the event is here again next year so that we can come back to this house.

Our family of 4 loved this cleverly designed and well appointed house - it felt cozy yet everyone had their own privacy when needed. The place was very clean and had everything we needed (grill, kitchen supplies, linens, instructions on how to navigate Wintergreen). We used the guest passes for access and discounts to many of the activities at the resort (pools, lake, zip line, tubing, miniature golf). Many thanks to the owners for bending over backwards to accommodate our hastily planned vacation!

Our family of four (parents + 2 adult daughters) stayed in this home for a week Aug 2011. It was perfect. Plenty of bedroom/bathroom space for everyone. Kitchen and BBQ had all the conveniences of preparing meals. The location is absolutely idyllic! The listing description/photos accurately reflects the home. Home is well maintained and clean. The owner is very helpful and great to communicate with. We highly recommend this home for a vacation in the mountains and hope to return again.

From the moment we started up the mountain our trip was as good or better than the description. Photos and description were spot on. Property is well kept, owners are/were very helpful. Summer activities include swimming, hiking, and wine tastings. The cool mountain air made for great sleeping weather even in the month of July. I would recommend this property for family reunions and get a ways. My 80 year old mother was able to attend due to the bedrooms and main living area on ground level.
Owner response:We have even had people in wheelchairs tell us they have been comfortable in our house and able to move around freely in their chair.

We stayed in this home over Thanksgiving and it was a pure delight. The home is very nicely appointed with a wonderful fully-equipped kitchen. It is elegant yet comfortable, very clean and nestled on a quiet cul-de-sac. The owners have thoughtfully decorated the home to accomodate their guests...we would recommend this home to our friends and family.

We stayed in this lovely home for a week in September 2009. We were impressed with the architecture and interior design. The house is very well appointed, including the kitchen, and so we did a lot of cooking while there. Since there are two bedrooms and baths on the first floor, my 91-year old dad was able to join us for a few days without climbing stairs. However, there is an additional bedroom and bath on the second floor. The third floor loft is only for nimble kids since the narrow stairs have no railings. The house has a very quiet location, tucked in the woods, about 15 minutes from Nellysford and close to the Mountain Inn area in Wintergreen where a lot of activities take place. We recommend the tiny Basic Necessities restaurant which is only open a few nights a week (reservations are necessary). There is a relatively new coffee house called the Java Depot, which is good for breakfast. Both are in the Nellysford area. There is also a great farmers market in Nellysford on Saturdays -- excellent produce, baked goods, and crafts. We would definitely rent this house again.

We had a great experience at this beautiful home in the mountains. The open airy contemporary design allowed us all to take in the fresh mountain air that we always wondered about. We spent our days swimming and having picnics at Lake Monocan. The Lake provides comfortable padded lounge chairs,a sandy beach, inflatable trampolines, and outdoor grills. On our drive back up to the house we would watch the temperature drop down from around 86 to 76 degrees! Perfect! The home was very comfortable for 6 Adults and one toddler. We enjoyed how clean and well decorated it was. The activities passes do not include the use of the aquatics center at the top of the mountain that has an indoor and outdoor pool. ( They do allow access to black rock pool) However, we went up there on our first day not realizing that, and the person at the desk let us in anyway. Overall- a top notch location to get away from the city heat and just relax. The home was one of the prettiest we saw on the mountain. And we drove around and checked out a lot while we were there. Loved the views of the trees and mountains from the back deck. We cooked out on the grill and had frozen margaritas with mountain breezes!

What a great house! It was perfectly clean and felt very cozy, yet roomy. The kitchen and bathrooms (and most of the house) were recently renovated and it's clear that a lot of care has been put into this house. We enjoyed both the back deck and the front porch swing...just what our family needed. We loved it and will definitely return. Thanks!

Our family had a great time in this home. It was clean, very well equipped and comfortable. My daughter fell in love with the decor (HGTV is her favorite channel). The parking pass provided super easy slope access. We will definitely return. Tips for skiiers: Ski Barn rents skis for less than the resort with no lines. Costco in VA sells discount lift tickets (23% off). Thanks!

What a wonderful getaway! We had a family get-together over Labor Day and this house was perfect. My small children were comfortable and had a great time as well as parents and grandparents. I loved the location of the house as it wasn't in a busy area of the resort. There was so much peace and quiet. We'll definitely choosing this location for vacations in the future. Thank you for opening your home to us, we fell in love!

This was the perfect house for our family get-a-way. Ample room for everyone. We loved the location which offered the quiet and peaceful atmosphere we were looking for. We were very glad we chose a house that the grandchildren could play comfortably inside or outside. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay at this beautiful scenic area. We look forward to staying at this house on our next trip.
