  I know this review is a little late coming, as we stayed in this house the week of July 4th 2012, but after reading another review, I felt the urge to put in my 2 cents worth. Love, love, love this house! The location couldn't possibly be better - right across the street from the beach, an ice cream/burrito shop, convenience store, and marina just steps away, and only a couple of blocks from the boardwalk - even walkable for our relative with serious health problems. The wrap around porch is fantastic for people-watching and just relaxing, and there is a latching gate to contain pets or small children. The electric grill provided was much easier to handle than either gas or charcoal. Regarding the heat, it was blazing hot when we arrived, but I discovered that several windows had been left open. Once they were closed, the back area cooled down dramatically, although we did use the fan that was provided. Temps during our week were scorching, with heat indexes most days well over 100, but we were comfortable, and I am very heat intolerant. The furnishings were very clean and very comfortable. If you want high end luxury, feel free to pay for it - we prefer cozy character while on vacation. We purposely sought out an older house after having been disappointed with our fancier, boring place the year before. Everything was very clean - I am a clean freak, and even the carpet was okay, although I don't like carpets in general. In addition to basic kitchen supplies, paper products and laundry supplies were also included, which is not the norm in my experience. I do wish that both baths weren't in the back, but hey - they did the best they could, and it really wasn't that big an issue for us. The separate living room for the kids was fantastic, especially with two young teenagers. The area was safe enough that we were comfortable letting the kids roam on their own. Except for visits to Wilmington or the NC Aquarium/Fort Fisher, you really can park and stay parked at this house, which is a huge plus with gas prices nowadays. I will definitely be booking this house again for this coming summer!

  Nice older home in the heart of Carolina Beach. We loved being able to walk everywhere, restaurants, stores, boardwalk, and the beach! The wraparound porch was great, and the kitchen provided most of what we needed. Cons: the back part of the house, which has both bathrooms, den and twin bedroom, was hot, even in September weather. The AC does not blow well in that area, can't imagine how it would feel in the summer months. Thankfully, we brought fans with us and used all of them! The front part of the house was nice and cool. Furniture was a little worn and outdated, beds were not very comfortable, and we missed having a queen bed available in one of the bedrooms. My husband's feet extended past the full size mattress! Carpet was very dingy looking, and I personally cleaned the doors and trim because they had fingerprints everywhere (I'd suggest switching cleaning services). We also appreciated the beach chairs, cooler and umbrella that were provided with the rental. (We were told there were bikes, too, but there were not). A huge biker gang was having a convention at the motel across the street, and that got a little loud...but it was good entertainment! All in all though, we were happy enough with the place, and the price was great for the size of the house and the location.

As our off season approaches we have a list of new improvements to have this home updated and in the best shape possible to make your beach vacation memorable and relaxing! We are in process of updating our AC unit to address the entire home and make it comfortable during all seasons. We have already ordering new furniture inluding sleeper sofas to allow for more sleeping guests and a new dining table. We are not able to offer bicycles at this home due to storage limitations and do not advertise it as such. We do not mention bikes as part of our amenities, however we do offer Tommy Bahama Beach Chairs, Coolers, and 2 beach umbrellas. We are sorry for any confusion in that area, but there are bike rentals available on the beach. Happy you enjoyed your stay and hope you will return!   We had a wonderful week with our family here. The accommodations were perfect for us. The kitchen was very well stocked and we felt very much at home. Watching fireworks from the front porch was lovely. We will come again!

  We had a great stay here for a girl's weekend. There were five of us and we had a very comfortable stay. This house is very clean and has everything you need. We loved the porch! Great location for people watching. I would definitely stay here again!

  All I can say is WOW this place was great had a weeks vacation with the entire family and there was enought room for more. Loved that there were to different livingrooms one for the kids and one for the adults. Loved the location was close to EVERYTHING!!!! Would stay again see ya next year!
