Built by a reknowned artist in the early 1960's, this 3 bedroom/2 bath home is filled with light from every direction - skylights above, walls of windows, and a view that stretches from the ocean to the mountains highlighted by the 'Hollywood' sign and Griffith Observatory. Perfect for relaxing or entertaining, the open floor plan is intended to enjoy the California lifestyle and climate.
The entrance is paved in polished terrazo and punctuated on one side by a classic 60's flagstone rock fireplace that extends from the dark wood floors to the pitched post and beam ceiling. Across the 'great room' are glass sliding doors that lead to a 400 square foot wood deck with glass railings that overlook Sunset Blvd, the Hollywood sign, and Griffith Observatory. The living room is tastefully decorated with mid-century antiques and eclectic treasures, ample seating, a large screen TV, and a study perfect for reading or game playing (with a Queen sized sofa bed for additional guests).
The newly remodeled kitchen has every modern amenity, walnut custom cabinetry, stainless steel appliances including a Viking stove and Caesar stone counter tops. The dining area is surrounded by windows of foliage and views, comfortably seating 8. Off the kitchen, there is an additional side deck, BBQ, outdoor sitting area, and playhouse in the midst of mature growth and a large yucca tree.
The master suite was recently remodeled with a modern master bathroom and walk-in closet. The extra large soaking tub comfortably fits two adults with a large picture window to the Hollywood mountains and Hollywood sign. The room is spacious and airy, peaceful and open, with windows lining the east side of the pitched high ceiling. This is truly a suite for serenity away from the rest of the world.
The children's bedroom has a twin-sized bunk bed plus a futon, ample space and plenty of stuffed animals. It is directly across from the hall bathroom (and laundry room) that was also recently remodeled with a deep soaking tub and custom bamboo cabinetry all in a modern, clean style.
Additionally, there is a third bedroom (Guest Room) with a Queen sized bed and large sitting area.
The main deck off of the living room is 400 square feet of ipe wood with glass railings to capture the view from every angle inside and out. Facing west above the treeline, the Griffith Observatory and Hollywood sign are clear and visible reminders of this unique location. Sunset Boulevard below is a line of twinkling lights at night, and on a clear day, a sliver of blue ocean can be seen from Santa Monica beach to the south while the San Gabriel mountains are topped snowy white by winter to the north.
There is a small garden set amidst native succulents and cactus and located to the left of the garage (garage is not available to renters). And there are stairs from the side deck that lead down to the gated yard below.
Located in the hills of Silverlake, it is an easy 5 minute walk downhill to the Sunset Junction area, Sunset Blvd. boutiques, restaurants, Tuesday and Saturday morning Farmer's Market. Very conveniently located to all of Los Angeles, the beaches are a quick 30 minute drive away via freeways with the 101, 5, and 10 Fwy easily accessed.
