  My wife and I and my brother and sister-in-law rented this unit for 9 days. We found the unit to be everything that Steve said that it would be. We really enjoyed the views from both lanai and the living room. The property was clean and nicely furnished. There were a couple of things that occurred while we were there that were not the fault of the manager or the owner. The water was shut off one day and then they replaced the electrical panel on another day. My brother and sister-in-law slept on the hide a bed and found it to be very uncomfortable. This is an item that the owner might want to consider replacing. Overall, our experience was very enjoyable and I would definitely stay here again and will recommend the property to all of our friends and relatives. Thank you Steve.

  My wife and I stayed 7 nights beginning 1-29-13. We were a little concerned as we made our way through the building to this unit because it's an older building and some of the other privately owned units we passed with open doors were VERY much in need of updating. However, when we entered this unit with the manager, Steve, we were very pleasantly surprised. First, the views from this corner unit were spectacular and covered 270 degrees - Diamond Head, Ala Wai Canal, golf course, mountains, ocean and most of Waikiki. The next thing that popped out was the amazing lanai with comfortable, modern furniture where we spent many hours just relaxing and reading. The unit also had a very spacious and comfortable living area, 46" flat screen tv (unusual for Waikiki), upgraded kitchen with full size refrigerator, counter top cooking (no oven), micro wave, dishwasher, stainless sink/faucet, upscale cabinets, modern bath (incuding a small tub), king size bed (also unusual in Waikiki) etc. The sleeper sofa (which we didn't use for sleeping) was comfortable for sitting/lounging while watching TV at night. We thought this unit was perfect for a couple or a family of four, but maybe a little too compact for two couples. Internet (via cable) was excellent, however we couldn't get a connection with wi-fi (no problem because we just connected with cable while seated at the convenient desk next to the TV). The only two flaws (minor) were 1) no hair dryer and 2) a spraying leak from the shower hose connection. As of the date of this review, the pictures on this website for this unit are not up to date. The unit is much better furnished and equipped than shown in the pictures. Steve, the manager, was a very nice man who met us upon our arrival and made us feel welcome and secure. Thanks Steve!

  This upgraded condo is great! Beautiful ocean views from living room/kitchen area. From the bedroom and the lanai is fantastic view of Diamond head, the ocean, canal & mountains. Condo has everything you need in it. The Island Colony is only 3 blocks to the beach. Easy walk. It is located a block behind the International Market Place. Great location. The pool area on the 6th floor is very nice. And there is a huge jacuzzi. Fitness facility is being built, but I was told it will not be ready till Oct. 2012, but if you need a gym to work out at, you can join the 24hr. fitness just blocks away. I would highly recommend this condo. I have stayed at Island Colony before and like this condo the best. I will definitely book this condo again!

  This condo was perfect! On the 34th floor, so we had beautiful ocean views from living room/kitchen area and from the lanai we had ocean views, diamond head view, mountain & canal view. Condo has nice upgrades. Great location in Waikiki; only 3 blocks to beach. Easy walk. It's behind the International Market Place. Pool area is nice w/ large jacuzzi. Good laundry facilities. The fitness facility is being built; property managers told me it will be ready Oct. 2012. I would highly recommend this condo. We will definitely stay there again!

  Great location and a great apartment. Good kitchen with everything apart from kettle and good sized living area. TV with good range of channels and DVD player. Good sized bedroom with a beutiful Lai. Good sized bathroom too. Aircon in bedroom but no aircon in living room but with windows open get a nice breeze. 5 minute walk to beach. 15 minute walk to golf course and driving range. Wifi included. On one of the top floors but lifts are super quick. Amazing views of beach from living and golf course from bedroom/lai. Great property manager. We arrived early and he had it ready for us. Convience store in building. Pictures are what you get. Great price compared to hotel and would recommend to single or couple travelling. Would look at renting again.

  Beautiful condo with amazing views. Great location!! We only wish it had a TV in the bedroom. We would definitely stay here again though.

This unit is newly remodeled and the owner's personal residence while in Hawaii. It features FREE INTERNET, FREE PHONE CALLS to North America and Canada, remodeled kitchen, new carpet and black-out drapes as well as a spectacular view of the ocean, Koolau Mountain Range and Diamond Head. The building has lots of great new amenities including: swimming pool, hot tub, restrooms, shower, sauna, bar-b-que, gym, laundry facilities, ice machines, convenience store, atm machine, picnic tables and Enterprise car rental in the lobby.   This property was perfect!! From the moment we opened the door my husband and I along with my friends ( husband and wife) love the place! The view of the ocean just 2 blocks away and the beautiful view of Diamond Head and of surrounding mountains were breathtaking, especially when a rainbow appeared to add to the picture perfect scene!!! The bathroom, which is super important to me, was clean! The kitchen was equipped with the necessary utensil needed for basic cooking! Our stay of 10 days was like being home! I highly recommend this property for future visitors staying at Waikiki! The only incovience is if you surf and have a surfboard you have to take the service elevator. Since we were on the 34th floor taking stairs wasn't much of an option! So we would have to call down to security desk and ask for elevator. There were few times we had to wait over 15 minutes for elevator because maintance would over ride the elevator and it wouldn't stop on our floor. When we waited for 20 minutes we decided to take regular elevator and a specific security guard yelled at us but oh well! Being on vacation and waiting that long for an elevator is ridiculous but that was the only down fall! Enjoy your stay!

When I know ahead of time what your needs are I can better assist you. There are surfboard racks on the lobby level so you would not have had to lug your surfboard up the elevators. The elevators are fast, efficient and newly remodeled and yes the security personnel are very protective over our new assests so as not to get them banged up by surfboards, bicycles, construction equipment and other beach toys. Damage to them will only drive everyone's costs up. There is one elevator which is padded for use of surfboards, etc. It's true, sometimes it takes more patience.   Pictures shown of the furniture are not of unit where we stayed, the actual unit is much better furnished. There was no cooking oven in the unit as originally stated in the ad . The dishwasher did not work properly. The sofa bed was not very comfortable. Other than that, the unit was very clean & comfortable. We consider those issues quite minor & could easily be fixed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much. Would recommend the following restaurants: The Round Table (best pizza anywhere) Lula at the Outrigger on the beach ( excellent food & reasonably priced)

I missed the part about an oven. There are very few units in the Island Colony that have full size ovens or ranges. This unit has a 4 burner glass cooktop. It is said that oven/ranges are against the House Rules at the Island Colony. The dishwasher is only 6 months old, as is the entire remodel. Please tell me when things don't work. I can't fix what I don't hear about. I will talk the the owner about "mattress toppers," many guests have told me that they help a lot with comfort level of sofa sleepers. We hope that you enjoyed all the new furnishings, carpet, drapperies and amenities in the unit. This is the owner's private residence and we take a lot of pride in the unit as a top quality remodel.   I stayed in this condo for over two weeks. The views are incredible! The Lanai is fantastic. The condo is pristine and has everything you need for the perfect stay. The location is convenient to the beach, great restaurants and shops. Working with Steve High was a delight. The price was so much better than staying in a hotel. You will not be disappointed with this condo.

I represent this owner with several very high quality units at the Island Colony. All have been remodeled and furnished beautifully. This unit features a new kitchen with a dishwasher, full size stainless steel refrigerator, four burner glass cooktop, microwave and all the conveniences of home. There is new carpeting and tile throughout the unit, comfortable lanai furniture, A/C in the bedroom which has a king size bed and blackout drapes. The unit has crown molding, flat screen TV with blueray and comfortable furniture for relaxing. There are breathtaking ocean, Diamond Head, Koolau, Ala Wai and City views for day and night. These Island Colony units have free internet for your use and free local phone calls. The Island Colony itself has made many significant improvements to the building over the past couple of years with respect to the common areas. New efficient high speed elevators, new slate at the entry, lobby and sixth floor swimming pool area, new tile in the pool, renovations to the parking structure, exterior spall repair and repainting of the building, they are currently working on the paneling and wainscot in the lobby area and new landscaping was completed before the New Year.   Stayed at condo over Christmas vacation. The view was great, it was a corner unit with 2 great views. The photos did accurately describe the appearance, but not the amenities. There was no oven in the kitchen! Unfortunately, I did not even notice this until I brought frozen lasagna home to bake and garlic bread. I was not going to let a "little" thing like this ruin our vacation so I tried to be creative; I would put the lasagna in the microwave. Could not put frozen lasagna in microwave because it was in a foil container. Went to cupboard to find a microwaveable dish. Low and behold not a ONE! Ended up cutting lasagna in 4 square and putting on plate. Had to cook garlic break stove top. By the way, one towel in kitchen for our 10 day stay. No bowls for cereal,. Plus kitchen light was out most of the time; did go on occasionally. There was no remote for the TV in the living room. The owner was kind enough to go to the store and buy one for us. He also brought over extra towels, because there were only 2 sets for each of us. Actually we just thought there was 1 set each, because the others were found in closet when we were leaving unit. We did have to laundry towels twice, which was NOT part of my vacation plans. There were only 2 rolls of toilet paper so we had to buy our own. Also middle light in bathroom was out. Shower had a leak. Also notice toilet bowl brush used to clean the toilet. Unit does have air conditioning... in the bedroom! There is a nice breeze that comes through during the morning when both bedroom and living room windows are open. We ended up keeping windows open at night and got used to the continuous noise and the garbage trucks. Our greatest disappointment was that the pool was not in use. I didn't call the owner for a few days and was reprimanded for this. He indicated that he didn't keep track of these things and something to the effect "this was not the Hilton." We would have NOT even booked this condo if we had known the pool was out of order. The pool did open the last few days of our visit, but it was a CONSTRUCTION site; not someplace you would relax. On the plus side, we did not encounter any bed bugs or bugs in the condo. And the trash dispensary was down the hall; that would be the pits having that outside our door! In the end, I would NOT recommend this condo. It could be a nice place with a little tender loving care; a few amenities; paper, pen, hair dryer, the little things of home.

  Owner response: Aloha: Thank you so much for taking the time to send a review. After 31 years in Waikiki I jokingly refer to it as, "Little Manhattan," in the Pacific. We have all the big city noises including emergency services, delivery services and transporation vehicle noises. We try to do our best to be responsive to the needs of guests and to their requests and suggestions. A brand new remote control was delivered as well as additional towels. Had I know of the need for the other items, I would have happily delivered them. At your suggestion, I have purchased microwave cooking dishes, rice bowls, cereal bowls, saimin bowls and a new hair dryer. Our photos are very accurate and we try our best to give people a great value. Upon your suggestion, I will make it very clear that the unit does not have an oven. I cannot apologize enough for the swimming pool not being open during your stay. The construction project was months behind schedule. Management changes were made in part because of these construction delays. As I mentioned, I believe the best pool in Waikiki is at the Hilton Hawaiian village with it's waterfalls, meandering pools and slide. This unit is a privately owned condominium and not part of a gigantic hotel operation so it is true that we do not perform daily maid service and supply all the fancy and costly ammenities of the best hotels in town. Our goal however, is to make your stay as comfortable as possible and be very responsive, yet leave you in peace on your vacation unless you need somthing to make your stay more enjoyable.
