30 steps walk to a private sandy beach. No roads to cross. The Main House is a full-sized home, roomy for large families. Our beautiful sandy beach is adjacent to the Cape Cod National Seashore. Great place for swimming, kayaking (3 kayaks are included), sailing, exploring, collecting sea shells.. much more. Enjoy full water views from our south-facing, 2,000 square foot, Cape Cod-style, two-level (no basement) home. Lots of windows, sliders, and decks. Fully equipped kitchen with full-sized appliances.
LOCATION. The 'Sea Shells' cottages, Chequessett Neck, Wellfleet, Cape Cod. The Sea Shells is a cluster of 'Olde Cape Cod' style cottages in a secluded, private beachfront location. Walking distance to Wellfleet's seaside golf course. 1 mile to the historic village of Wellfleet - restaurants, shops, buy fresh local seafood and produce, and visit art galleries. 1 mile to Wellfleet Pier - go on a fishing excursion, rent a sailboat, order cooked lobsters for dinner at Mac's, go to a show at Wellfleet Harbor Actor's Theater (W.H.A.T.). Walk 3/4 mile (to the left) down the beach to the Pier and get burgers, fried clams & ice cream at the walk-up window and sit at picnic tables by Mayo beach. And there's 3 restaurants there. Walk to the right and pass secluded beaches to reach the National Seashore.
SIZE. The Main House is NOT a cottage with small, adjacent bedrooms, thin walls, and pioneer quality beds. Our family vacation home is spacious for 1 family, can comfortably accommodate an extended family, 2 families, or groups of friends with privacy. Excellent for family reunions and work retreats. Please note: summer occupancy is limited to 10 people.
SLEEPING. 3 proper, private bedrooms. 1 walk-thru bedroom. 1 family room with futon convertibles and a door for privacy for use as a sleeping room. 1 game room with a futon for use as a sleeping room. Two full bathrooms.
LIVING AREAS. Separate 1st floor Family room has a TV, DVD, and refrigerator. 2nd floor Living room has a flat screen HD TV with Blue Ray DVD player and view of the water. Dining room table seats 8 to 10 plus 4 people can sit at the kitchen island. Or relax and dine on the 40 foot deck with a view of the water. Play Ping Pong in the sandy area in back and there's a table and chairs, a rocking chair, beach items and toys. Wonderful place for kids.
CHILDREN. Wellfleet - the BEST place for young children.
OUR BEACH. Our bay beach has gentle waves, no riptides to worry about. Walk, swim, or paddle to Great Island - a protected ecological treasure - part of Cape Cod National Seashore. 3 kayaks are included - explore! 2 are sit-on-top kayaks - easy to use for beginners of all ages. This property is our retirement plan, our family vacation home, and a regular vacation home for several guests, some of whom have been coming to Wellfleet for over 50 years! I love knowing that guests at Main are children, with their parents, & grandparents. I'm looking forward to the day I have grandchildren. My wife & I have been coming to Wellfleet since the 1980's. Recently, 4 dear friends of ours have bought property here, nice for us. My wife's a psychologist and I'm a real estate broker. My company is Franklin Real Estate. Fabulous stay at the Main House in Wellfleet

We spent 4 nights at the Main House. Despite bad weather we had a wonderful time. We loved the proximity to the beach, it was so quiet and peaceful. We only met one other person on the beach our whole stay. The house itself was lovely and had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed the furnishings in the kitchen as we prepared several meals there. We also enjoyed having netflix. There was plenty of room for our family of 4 to spread out. We enjoyed using the ocean kayak and we were able to take a couple of trips with our boys. There was lots to do in Wellfleet, we biked the Cape Cod Rail Trail and we went to one of the many ponds. We much enjoyed all the fresh seafood available. I think what we enjoyed most was the peacefulness and privacy of the Main House. I hope to return again when my boys are older - this was an unforgettable vacation for us.

Howie, I just wanted to drop you a quick note to express to you how much we enjoyed staying at the main house. It was absolutely perfect, with the kids down stairs and adults upstairs. The security we felt letting the kids go down to the beach with out worry of them being “washed away” compared to the ocean side of Wellfleet was a bonus. We all enjoyed the kayak trips over to Great Island, the sunset at Duck Harbor, the Oysters at the Beachcomber, the rail trail, cape cod league baseball, and more. We could not have had more perfect weather. Thanks from all of us.

The Main House was everything I'd hoped it would be as the setting for a relaxing, special get-together for a group of both younger and older people. Dinners out on the deck overlooking the water were memorable, and the kitchen was well equipped for preparing them. The mornings and evenings in the large living room area were perfect for jigsaw puzzles and Trivial Pursuit, and during the days we had easy access to everything we wanted to see on Cape Cod. Having the beach right in front of us, though, with kayaks for the explorers among us. made it easy to slow down and just enjoy this extraordinary and comfortable location.
