Years ago, when we discovered this home, it was sand-covered and neglected, but the location was priceless. Today it is a refreshing, comfortable treasure surrounded by water on three sides, with a deck opening directly onto the beach and breath-taking sunset views.
Your stay at this bright, colorful oceanfront home offers opportunities to enjoy sea breeze respites on the porch, deck or beach.
Or you can try your luck surf fishing at ocean’s edge or flounder gigging in the channel, “the honey pot” as the locals call it. Bear Island is just across the inlet and there is abundant sand for castle-building and sunning. The beach is just short of feeling completely private.
The house itself boasts lively, inspiring décor that invites gatherings in the family room, breakfast room and kitchen. In the colder months, with the fireplace ablaze, the space is intimate and cozy. The kitchen is comfortable, current and well equipped. For those who find relaxation in the latest movie offerings or sports events, the large flat screen television is at the ready. Each bedroom also has a television to accommodate differences of opinion. Both the master and guest bedroom overlook the water.
In the event that you find yourself in need of getting away from all this, a short car ride away, you’ll find a plethora of things to do. There is shopping in Swansboro, and Morehead City, fine dining and art in Beaufort, antique hunting in New Bern and Jacksonville for all the rest.
We hope that you will consider treating yourself to a stay at this easy, relaxing oceanfront jewel.

My review is a year late - However it will go down as the very best review because this is where we got engaged and all was wonderful - I fish for a living, so getting away was very nice and the house and the view were excellent - Proposed on the beach out front at sunset - Very nice people to work with ---Thanks again!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I were looking for a romantic get-away on the beach and found this gem! The pictures don't do it justice. It was everything and more. Very clean, comfortable and well-maintained. We spent several days there - our favorite was Friday - 64 degrees, bright and sunny. We spent the day on the deck of the house, walking the beaches in front of the house, and playing in the surf. Nothing beats the sunsets! We sat on the deck drinking great wine, watching the people gather with their cars on the beach, to watch a beautiful sunset. Definitely recommend getting the driving permit as access is right around the bend from the house. We can't wait to book another trip - -this time we hope to get in some fishing and more sun! Would also recommend Jordan's for Oysters (it's a local dive but the people are great and so are the oysters). And, time permitting, drive down to Beaufort - visit the Maritime Museum and then have lunch or dinner at Old Salt - - a great new restaurant where the owners, Charles and Babs, will welcome you with open arms, great wine and great food! The owners have truly found a piece of paradise and we are all lucky that they are willing to share!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

First time to Emerald Isle and it did not disappoint. The home is beautiful and provides amazing views of the water. The sound is actually much closer than the ocean and provides a calmer alternative to the ocean. The ocean is a bit of a walk from the house but a cart is provided to help ferry chairs, etc to the ocean. Judging by guest book reviews and pictures in the home, I got the impression that the ocean is now a good bit further away from the house than it was a few years ago. Beach reclamation? I recommend viewing the property on google earth to get an idea of the layout of the beach and the sound. We ate at many good restaurants while there and recommend crab's claw, rucker john's and portifino. The aquarium was a nice break on a rainy day as well. The only real downside to the trip was the bugs. Large biting flies and some kind of sand gnats/fleas made it difficult (at times) to stay out on the deck. Don't know if this is common on emerald islem a seasonal issue or even just bad timing on our part. If not for the bugs I would give 5 stars.Did you find this review helpful? We were looking for beautiful water views and a relaxing place to spend our October vacation week and we were blown away by this spectacular home, designer decorated with every amenity anyone could want. The home has recently been renovated with great care to accentuate the incredible views from three sides of this homes windows, deck and porch. The panoramic nature of the sound and ocean views is something I had ever experienced - if you think the pictures are nice, wait until you see it in person. The bedrooms were both comfortable and quiet (two away from the main living area with beautiful water views from both). We were so relaxed and never wanted to leave. I spend two weeks Oceanfront in Kill Devils Hills on the Outer Banks each year with my family and was blown away by the different look of getting the combination of the two waterways coming together. The sunsets were to die for and we actually sat in the chairs you see in the pictures and drank our wine each evening. It is important to note that our experience with this owner was EXCEPTIONAL. I feel as if I gained a friend and an appreciation for her talents as a decorator and her love of this home. We felt welcome from the moment we stepped into the house and we can't wait to go back.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in October 2011 and without any reservations, we immediately booked this lovely cottage for our 1st wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, my husband and I were simply overwhelmed with the homeowner's recent renovations. The cottage was gorgeous last year but the recent renovations only further enhanced the natural charm and intimacy of this beautiful cottage. Our 2nd visit did not disappoint! We had an awesome time and further enjoyed this wonderful week as it surpassed our expectations for this 2nd visit. The accomodations were phenomenal and both my husband and I highly recommend this specific site. The views are simply breathtaking and stunning regardless of where you stand. Immense detail to the decor was given and the amenities are equally stellar. Great surf fishing as well with wonderful local eateries that will not disappoint even the most discriminate palette. Visiting nearby Swansboro, Jacksonville, and Beaufort are necessity. My husband and I are already planning for yet another visit to this absolutely beautiful cottage for the fall of 2013. You will not be disappointed!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Just returned from staying a week at this cottage and it was wonderful. The cottage looks better in real live than the pictures show. We found it to be clean and very well maintained. The location to the coast and sound was great. We were all in our 60's and this was a very relaxing vacation for all of us. The was unanimous with all of us that this was the best vacation that we had taken. I would certainly recommend this location to anyone wanting to get away. You can just relax or there are many activities nearby to keep you busy. Definitely a location I would like to return to in the future.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We just returned from a week at this property and already I want to go back! The home was gorgeous and very well maintained. The location was perfect as we could swim in both the sound and the ocean. There is plenty to do for the entire family - we rented kayaks at Hot Wax, enjoyed mini golf at Emerald Forest, caught a movie on the one rainy day, and enjoyed the boutiques in the Food Lion shopping center. I highly recommend this property and look forward to returning!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We just returned from a week at this property and it was fantastic! Beautiful, very well maintained home. The sunsets were spectacular and the beach was surprisingly private. We ordered groceries from Lowe's Food store prior to coming which is a great service. Check out Hot Wax Paddle Sports nearby for kayaking. My daughter also took a surfing lesson from them which was a lot of fun. Owners very helpful and responsive. Would love to return!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We were fortunate to rent this property after our son's homecoming from his 2nd deployment. As with the military dates are not always accurate so when we had to change our arrival date Faye was very willing to work with us. The house itself is amazing! Very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was well stocked and remodeled, the bedrooms and bathrooms were very comfortable. The sheets were high quality. We have stayed at other properties on Emerald Isle and this is the best one. Others that are for rent through realtors we have found are not as well maintained. This property is owner operated and very well maintained and clean. Perfect location between the bay and ocean. We would highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

What struck us first about this peninsular wonder was its prime location: just off the cozy deck is an expansive field of golden white sand; to the left lies the Atlantic, and to the right lies the famous Emerald Isle "Honey Pot," a quiet, spoon-shaped basin of water that's mostly separated from the ocean. The beautiful home thus has the rare distinction of offering its guests both a beach/ocean experience as well as a lake-like experience, complete with ample opportunities for wind-surfing, flounder gigging, scuba diving, and safe swimming. Plus, the location has the unique advantage of boasting spectacular views of both sunrises and sunsets. The Emerald Isle area also has plenty to do, and offers charming, delicious restaurants and bistros. Inside the home are countless windows for panoramic beach viewing (all of a sudden, something as mundane as washing dishes can become quite the sightseeing experience!) The furnishings inside were some of the best we'd ever encountered on a vacation, and we've stayed in dozens of beach places over the years. The house has been completely refurbished, inside and out. And from the bedding to the window treatments to the beautiful furniture, each room is elegantly appointed with chic, eclectic designs. Out back is a small deck, and under the house are ample parking spaces and showering facilites. The tin roof makes for a picturesque addition to this beautiful ocean-front cottage, situated in one of the most pristine pointes in the Emerald Isle area. We can't recommend it highly enough!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
