Exclusive Villa Set in Large Gardens Overlooking Beach and Sea
- Minimum stay:7 nights

- Wheel chair accessible:No
The beach side villas (approx 110 square metres with more than 1000 square metres of garden), built on a gentle hillside overlooking a nature preserved bay with wonderful swimming and crystal clear waters in the most exclusive area of Syros - set within the larger grounds of the estate.
The Villa comprises: Two bedrooms, kitchen/living room, two bathrooms, large balcony, large pergola in its own private gardens, laundry room and pathway to the beach
The villa is set in wonderful gardens with spectacular undisturbed views to the beach and the Aegean sea and islands beyond, with large pergola ideal for large al fresco dinners/drinks or Yoga plus many nooks and crannies that offer seclusion and wonderful sunset views across the bay. A footpath from the lower garden and olive grove leads to the beach. At the southern end of Delfini Beach there is a taverna, which is open in the summer months; about ten minutes walk across the beach. Greek hillsides and coastal paths to other beaches are rocky and covered with wild herbs; thyme, sage and oregano – a delight to the senses. In spring they are fresh and green and carpeted with beautiful wild flowers. Although the climate is a little cooler earlier in the year, this is a wonderful time to visit, when beaches are deserted and the island is home only to the local Greek population.
The villa has fantastic views of the beach and mountains from the open plan kitchen/living and dining room, the private gardens and the balconies (and one of the bedrooms). The fitted kitchens have ceramic hobs, full size electric ovens, fridge, dishwasher - fully equipped if you chose to cook for yourselves.
There are air-conditioning units, or if you prefer to have fresh air, fans are provided for the bedrooms. All linen, towels and beach towels are provided and laundered weekly. Duvets are available if you visit out of the warm season. House is cleaned by the on site housekeeper
Inside the gates, there is parking for several cars. The garden is fenced, hedged or walled, so it is private and secluded.
To make the most of your stay in Syros, we recommend you hire a car. We can arrange for this to be available for you at the port or airport when you arrive to make your transfer and luggage handling easy; many local taxi drivers are reluctant to take passengers along the partially unmade road that leads to Delfini. The manager of the property, will meet you at the port or airport, provide a welcome pack of local food, to see you through the first day or so and be available to advise on local amenities.
Kini, a small coastal village with a mini-market, sandy beach and waterfront tavernas is just over a kilometre from the property by road or you can walk along the coastal path by the sea. The main town and port of Hermoupolis, with shops, supermarkets, banks, markets, cinema and theatre is six kilometres away. A bus service links Kini and Hermoupolis. Syros is not like many other better known islands, it’s very safe and has few foreign tourists. Crime is low and most locals don’t bother to lock their houses or cars. It has a large natural harbour in the main town, which was once the main port of Greece. The island has enjoyed prosperity from Greek ship owners, industry, boat building and repair. Impressive Neo-Classical buildings decorate the town, edging a large central marbled square, where frequent cultural displays can be enjoyed from surrounding bars and tavernas. The older part of the city; Ano Syros, is a walled hill-top area crowned with a Catholic cathedral. The site has been sacred for more than ten centuries and a maze of tiny traffic free streets with quaintly restored houses are great to explore. The tradition of simple farming still remains and most locals grow their own olives, make their own oil and have a permanent supply of fruit, vegetables and wine from their own gardens.

Staying at Delfini bay is a magical experience. The privacy and quiet are unique, the views are spectacular and yet the villas offer the luxury and amenities one would expect from a five star hotel. The beach is just a brief walk down the hill and the local taverna located in Kini bay (a 20 minute walk) serves delicious innovative Greek cuisine. A holiday at Delfini bay is ideal for someone who wants a bit of peace and quiet away from the madding crowds, but it can also be enjoyed by those who like to visit local attractions and party the night away. The town of Hermopoulis is a short drive away and there one can enjoy a great choice of restaurants and cafés or catch a ferry to one of the other islands. The four villas offer enough spacious accommodations for entire family get-togethers or for seminars and retreats, where larger meetings can be held in pergolas or on the porch outside, overlooking the bay. The view of the sunset watched from the terraces and balconies is a sight to remember and cherish for years to come.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This place is the essence of peace - the beach is so clean and uncrowded - it felt it was exclusive to the house being just at the end of the garden - nothing I would have changed about the week we spent. The restaurants in Kin, the next bay were a real surprise - international cuisine at very very reasonable prices - where else can you sit by the beach and eat under the stars like this?Did you find this review helpful? I was quite simply amazed that such an area of Greece existed. Before I came I had that apprehension that the island and the villa would not live up to my expectations - instead both the island and the villa far surpassed my dreams. Within minutes of arrivng my partner and I were swimming in the cleanest waters looking across the bay to the misty beyond - wonderful!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

About: The owners (a writer and Danish Feng Shiui consultant) have created a unique blend of cycladic architecture and Danish style design . Joan and Richard designed and developed the property in conjunction with local architects who are responsible for preserving the beauty and heritage of the island of Syros. Taking into account the location, the light and the extraordinary views, the place was developed to maximize a sense of 'peace for the soul' as Richard and Joan call it. Due to the exclusive nature of Delfini where only a few houses have been allowed to be built we recommend this place to people who love peace and tranquility whilst being in easy reach of the main town and local (1 kilometer) fine restaurants.
Why Delfini:
My wife and I had spent years visiting the Greek islands looking for a place that still felt 'traditional' Greek and yet had all the amenities (shops, fine beaches, good restaurants, wild countryside..). Syros is relatively unknown as an island and yet, whilst close to Mykinos and Santorini (day trips can be great), it is unspoilt. Syros has a main town that surpasses any in the Cyclades - with its own theatre, open air cinema, marble streets with countless cafes and taverns and places of truly great archeological and historical interest...
The Unique Benefits at this Estate:
To sit overlooking the Aegean to hear the waves lapping in, to walk down to the beach in the morning and swim in really fresh clean water, to walk along the dramatic cliffs to pick herbs and pick up fresh bread and eggs in the next village, to sit beneath the stars at night and hear the water lapping in, to gaze up at the mountains and see the many rare birds, to walk down to the beach at any time of day or night ... this is the best of Greece
