Sorry it has taken me so long to review your wonderful property. Fall and winter are our busiest time, and I just haven't had time. We have rented many HomeAway properties, and this was by far the best. We arrived to find the home exactly as the pictures show, and exceptionally clean. In fact, it was spotless!!! The home was well equipped and you couldn't ask for anything more. Judy was most helpful; even sent us a packet of info about the area. We stayed a week and enjoyed every minute of it. We ate most of our meals on that wonderful screened in porch. The porch was a great place to relax and play cards. We went exploring during the day, and came back to kick back and relax. The kitchen was great, in fact we only ate out one time while we were there. The only possible addition to the kitchen might be a crock pot. We cannot say enough good about this property and would recommend it to anybody!!! We hope to be able to come back again. Thank you Judy and God Bless!!! IleneOwner response: Hi Ilene, We are so glad that you and Carroll had a relaxing stay, and thank you so much for your kind words about our "cottage in the trees"! We have added a crock pot to our kitchen because of your suggestion, and we're sure that our guests will be glad that we did! We hope that "y'all" will be back!! JUDY & LOUIS WORRELL

We have stayed at numerous vacation rentals. I have to say that Judy & Louis are by far the best owners we have worked with. Their attention to detail was fantastic...sending a big info packet to us about the area ahead of our visit, and following up on everything very promptly with no surprises. Lois even had a hand held shower head installed to meet a special need of one of our party. Also unlike some other previous rentals, all the basic supplies, such as toilet paper, etc, were in stock when we arrived at the house. The house was perfect for our needs. We took my Mom, who is 93, back home to visit with family & friends. Having everything she needed on one floor with easy access was wonderful. We entertained friends all week long and had plenty of room to cook and visit with the open floor plan & room to spread out on the screened in porch. The downstairs was a quite get away for a couple members of the party. What a wonderful new state of the art washer and dryer in the downstairs bathroom! Location was excellent as well. The house is easily accessible on paved roads and a quick drive into town. I would recommend this location for anyone looking for a vacation home.Did you find this review helpful? This was the perfect place for us to stay. It was close to downtown, yet we felt like we were miles out in the country. Lots of trees....we could not see our neighbors and certainly did not hear any neighborhood noise....very quiet and so peaceful!! It was spotless, comfortable and had everything you would need in the kitchen. (If you WANT to cook.) We were there for a couple of concerts at the Smokey Mountain Performing Arts Center. A great three days!!! Highly recommend!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My fiance and I wanted a relaxing summer get-a-way from the Florida heat. We found that here and much more. The cottage was very clean, relaxing, and spacious, truly a home away from home. The owners were tentative and made sure our needs were met. The welcome basket, which contained useful products and information was a great touch when we arrived at the cottage. We found that there were many fun things to do in Franklin, inluding a stroll through the shops downtown and a delicious dinner at Cafe Rel. We also visited Ashville and Highlands. We always looked forward to returning" home" to the cottage after a long day of sightseeing! We will definately be returning for future vacations. Thank you Louis and Judy for helping make this trip enjoyable and memorable.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

This place exceeded our expectations. Perfect for family getaway with master bedroom on main and an excellent basement. Having a garage was nice for my Jeep, not something we usually have on vacation. Plenty to do nearby including excellent whitewater rafting. A must do for adventure seekers is "Bust Your Butt" falls, only minutes away. The attention to detail by our hosts was amazing, everything you need to know about the area will be in the home awaiting your arrival. Highly recommend!Did you find this review helpful? Apologies first for taking so long to post this review. My husband and I drove from middle Georgia to spend our 38th anniversary. It was a relaxing and peaceful getaway. The cottage was immaculate, with all the amenities. All you need to do is bring your food to cook; everything else is there. Love the floor plan. Could not have asked for anything more. We spent the days checking out the area, drove to Bryson for the railroad trip. We just had a wonderful experience. The owners are so easy to communicate with. Know that you are getting the best from them when you stay at their home. Thanks again for a lovely time! We will definitely stay again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

This was our second stay at this lovely home. We spent our 2010 Thanksgiving week here inviting all our friends and family to join us for our feast. What a warm, inviting place to enjoy the holiday with fire in fireplace, flatscreen TV over the mantal, room to seat 12+, bar to serve snacks and dinner between kitchen and dining area as well as table and chairs on screened balcony off living room for serving. We also spent the entire month of July, 2011. The floor plan of the home is perfect for families or friends as it has large bedroom/bath up as well as large bedroom/bath down. There is also a den downstairs with TV and sleeper sofa. We vacationed both times with our 6/7 year old granddaughter. She was thrilled to have her own area downstairs, and we could relax upstairs while still keeping tabs on her. The pictures of the home are accurate as to beautiful furnishings, immaculate housekeeping, and the cupboards you see are filled with anything you'd want for preparing meals! If we travel to Franklin again, we will certainly plan our trip around the availability of this lovely home, located in a wonderful development overlooking the gorgeous mountains and sunsets as well as being nestled in the trees providing a peaceful, serene setting! Judy and Louis go out of their way to make sure all's perfect for your stay!! We highly recommend their mountain getaway.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, age 55+.

This was the perfect place for a peaceful and relaxing vacation! The house is beautifully furnished and in great shape, and the kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need. It felt just like home. We especially loved the gas-log fireplace- it was so cozy and warm! There is a lot to do and see in the area, and the owners provided binders full of information on sightseeing, activities, restaurants and more. We never lacked for something to do! The location is nice, too- there is beautiful scenery, yet the nearby town of Franklin provides the conveniences of the city- restaurants, grocery stores, shopping and more. We highly recommend this property- it was a wonderful vacation and we will definitely return!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+.

Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: We have been vacationing in this beautiful area for several years and just knew we wanted to retire here. So, in October of 2009, we found the perfect property, purchased it, refurbished it, and here we are! We want to share this gem with folks who appreciate God's country -- the mountains are truly magical!!! Happy Traveling, Judy & Louis
Why the Owner Chose Franklin:
The town of Franklin, NC and its surrounding areas is an exceptional area which has all of the amenities of a city, but the culture and appeal of a mountain community. We have many restaurants, a fully staffed hospital, a "Main Street" to beat none and access to the Great Smoky Mountain Park for all of its recreational wonders! And the casino in Cherokee is about 40 minutes away and a fun experience for all! We know that our decision to become a part of this mountain community was the right decision.
