Year Purchased: 1968
We have been vacationing on St. Maarten since the mid 1960's and been the proud owners of this property since 1968.
Why the Owner Chose Beacon Hill
We were on a Windjammer cruise in the mid 1960's when our boat came on rough weather and seas. Our boat somehow made its way to St. Maarten, where some local people were awaiting our arrival. A retired American couple living on the island took us in to their lovely, quaint beach front property, where we stayed for the remainder of our trip. We continued to visit this couple in St. Maarten for the next several years until they decided to return to the U.S., at which time we purchased the property.
The cottages were originally used as fishing cottages for some of St. Maarten's notable families. The prior owners used the cottages as studios for their artwork. The cottages have remained in their original state over the years, with updates made for modern conveniences. In addition, large patios were added to further enjoy the beautiful beach view.
We really enjoy our little piece of paradise and hope you do to.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
Our cottages provide you a unique stay on St. Maarten. We are located in the quiet residential area of Beacon Hill, but located very close to the popular Maho and Simpson Bay areas full of dining and nightlife.
We love to wake up and enjoy our morning coffee on the beach front patio, over looking the turquoise waters. We then either spend lazy days at home or make the very short trip to some of our favorite other beaches located within a few minutes. In the evening, we enjoy a grilled meal on the patio or a burger and beer down the street at the very popular Sunset Bar and Grill or at one of the many choices of fine dining in the area. In the evenings we have a variety of the most popular bars and nightclubs to choose from - all within a 10 minute drive. And, then some days, we never even leave the property. Ahhhhhh......
While there may be other villas and homes in our location and around the island who may offer more luxury, you won't find another reasonably priced option on St. Maarten with the beautiful location and the amount of privacy we offer on our acre of property.

Couldn't ask for a better place to spend a vacation. We spent a fair bit of time travelling the island but at the end of the day we couldn't wait to escape to our private and quite patio to BBQ our dinner and watch the sun go down. The property is well kept, private, and is in close (walking distance) proximity to many ammenities and beaches. The owner provided useful information about the island and the caretakers were always happy to answer any questions and provide suggestions. We would not hesitate to re-visit this location or suggest it to our friends or family.
Recommended for:Pet owners, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Wij hebben genoten van dit schattige huisje op een prachtige plek! Behalve een enkele keer een vliegtuig was het complete rust. Een gezellige inrichting en een heerlijk terras. De hond beacon was erg lief en ging telkens mee zwemmen. We werden gastvrij ontvangen door Rebecca en waren verrast dat ze zo'n lekker ontbijt voor ons had gekocht. Het was werkelijk een heerlijke cottage die we iedereen kunnen aanbevelen. Helmich en Anouchka uit Holland.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway.

Jean was wonderful! Not only was this cottage priced excellent but the owner provided some great info on places to eat and secluded beaches to hit. (Happy Bay was our fav!) The island was beautiful and a great warm up during our cold New England winter. The cottage was perfect, enough room for the two of us (they also have a larger one on the property for families) and completely private. We found the grounds to be well kept, and to have a dog (Beacon) for the week was so fun! The only thing we would have liked was a little more beach in front of the cottage but with storms a lot of the beaches change from year to year- but there are so many other beaches to see that it really didn't matter. My wife and I would like to say that our stay was wonderful, and would highly recommend staying there for anyone. It was a little peice of paradise. We never backtrack on our vacations, but would make an exception here. Rebecca and Cato were wonderful! Beacon became a close friend protecting us from, well nothing.

Thank you so much for everything. As you have heard many times your place is amazing and in such a perfect setting. Burgeaux Bay Beach provided great views despite the hurricane but we rented a car and saw much of the island and quite a few of the beaches. Your information package was very useful. We met Cato and Rebecca and she had the place spotless every day we came home. Thankk you for your care package when we arrived. The whole week was extremely relaxing and enjoyable from our coffees on the porch in the morning to having a glass of wine while watching the sunset every evening - exactly everything we were looking for. Thank you again and we hope to return.

Everything was perfect! The cottage was clean, bright, and well stocked with pots, pans, and dishes--everything we needed. We loved not having a TV or computer to distract us from each other. Rebecca, Cato, and Beacon were all wonderful caretakers. The list that Jeanne put together of local bars, restaurants, and beaches was invaluable. We took it with us everywhere.

We had a great time. The cottage is located convenient to stores, restaurants, beaches, and foodstores. We liked Sunset Bar, Uncle Harry's and Bajatzu's....Rent a car and try Mullet Beach, Friars Bay, and of course Orient Beach. Really enjoyed Cato, Rebecca, and Beacon. We liked the studio cottage...what a private honeymoon retreat!
