We very much enjoyed our stay in your cozy accommodation. It was a perfect location to celebrate our sister's 60th birthday. Janet and Eric were very accommodating and made our stay effortless. We found the cottage to be very well appointed and very comfortable. It is the ideal home away from home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: We had visited Niagara on the Lake many times and like everyone else that visits, we just loved it. It's history and the uniqueness of the architecture, its sense of community and beauty were all major attractions to us. We had the opportunity to move here and grabbed it with both hands and have never regretted it for a minute. We have lived here for over eight years and are still entranced by it. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Niagara-on-the-Lake:
We had been looking for a vacation rental property in the “prettiest town in Canada” for some time. We had seen several beautiful homes, but none of them had quite what we were looking for. Eventually we found this one. It was in need of some TLC and renovation, but we could see past the work that needed to be done and we knew immediately that this was the one we wanted. It was cute, the location so close to the town centre couldn’t be better, and our guests would be able to easily walk to everything the town has to offer – theatres, restaurants, shops, the lakeshore, etc.
One day, after several months of renovating and tidying up the exterior, a lady knocked on the door to introduce herself. She explained that she had been watching the progress with keen interest because she had lived in the house as a child, along with her 5 siblings (she still lives close by)!
We invited her inside of course so that she could see her 'old' home. She became quite emotional and tearful, gave us big hugs, and said how pleased she and her sisters were that someone loved this house again. It held so many wonderful memories for them all. She went on to tell us that it was always filled with music and laughter when they were children. Her father used to play the piano and they would all sing along while he played. We were so pleased that she was able to see her home again, and that she liked what we had done to it. As she left, she asked if we would mind if she brought another of her sisters to see it. She did, and her sister’s reaction was the same as her own - she loved it.
We were uplifted by their heartfelt pleasure and delight. Our first impression had been right. We sensed it had been a happy home. It had a good ‘feel’ about it when we first went inside - and it still does! There is something warm, cozy, re-assuring, and welcoming about it, sensations which many of our guests have commented on when they arrive.
You will feel it too.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Park your car when you arrive and you don't need to drive again until you go home! No long walks into town, although so close to everything the house is on a quiet residential street, so its very tranquil.
One of the pleasures in the morning is to pick up a cup of coffee and walk to Lake Ontario (five minute walk) and watch the sail boats racing or people out in their fishing boats.
Its a two minute walk to the local coffee shop, where you can sit and read the paper or chat to the locals.
Its a couple of minutes walk to: boutiques, restaurants, groceries, bakery, post office, golf course, parks with children's play area, outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, baseball field, volley ball court, convenience store, liquor store etc.
No driving unless you want to. Many cycles paths for safe cycling, bikes can be rented locally and delivered to the cottage.
If you have a dog, a 2 minute walk to the 'common' will get you to the off-leash park, they have a marvellous time there!
We have many coupons from local wineries for free wine tastings.
Location is everything!
