We spent a lovely week at Harbour Hideaway 3/05/13 - 3/12/13. Jim and Condy were excellent hosts. They are very involved in community and are a great source of information. Everything you might need was at the home and if not, they are happy to accomodate. It is far enough from the village to provide peace but close enough to walk/bike to all the local restuarants/bars. The grocery that is at the end of the street proabably has the best selection. The dive shops also picked us up there for any excursions. Would highly recommend Silk Cayes for a day trip. Would highly recommend Harbout Hideaway for a couple or a family to enjoy all that Placencia has to offer!

It is our first trip to Belize and the town of Placencia and absolutely fell in love - we spent two weeks at Jim and Cindy's and they were delightful hosts - Jim showed us around the town of Placencia and is very helpful with everything-used the bikes a lot to get into town which was great - our favorite hangout was the Barefoot Bar and The Shak for their delicious milkshakes and stir frys. There are a lot of different tours you can take and we rented a golf cart for the day and went up the peninsula past Maya Beach. All in all it was a fantastic holiday and we hope to come back. The local people of Belize are so friendly it makes it a true pleasure to vacation there. Harbour Hideaway is a beautiful place to spend a couple of weeks - everything you need is there and its very comfortable - definitely recommend this home to anyone.

You will never find better hosts than Jim and Cindy. They are helpful and kind from the onset. If you need anything, they will try to please. They also are very repectful of visitors privacy. The suite is located on a canal lot with water on both sides. The dock is perfect for relaxing in the shade or sun. The suite is the entire ground floor of the house, spacious, immaculate and well appointed. Bikes are provided which were our means of transport. The home is located close to the shops while out of the busy part of PLACENCIA village. Grocery, fruit stand, restaurants and bars are within an easy walk or ride. The crows nest does have a beautiful view, perfect for morning coffee or evening cocktail. Our favorites in town were the smoothies at the Shak Shack and Cliff's BBQ(waterfront at the end of main street). I would definitely stay here again on a return visit to Placencia.

There should be more stars in order to fully express the amazing time we had at Harbour Hideaway for two weeks in January 2012. We have rented through VRBO about 10 years and this was the first perfect experience we have ever had. From the booking, to the pick-up and Jim’s village tour, through to the conclusion, our time with Jim and Cindy was amazingly uncomplicated and pleasant. Luxurious linens, towels and a complete kitchen (including a smoothie machine!) all made the stay like being at a home away from home. Even better, was when something wasn’t there, the Wellers made sure we had what we needed (e.g. on a boat trip day, a cooler, complete with ice appeared!) Beach chairs and towels (all high quality) made our time at the beach (a five minute walk away) comfortable. Their local knowledge and connections with others in the Placencia community only added to our exemplary vacation experiences. Since we were there for 2 weeks, having easy access to laundry in the garage was appreciated. The outdoor space is plentiful, with lovely tropical landscaping, complete with a hammock, dock lounge chairs and a table for outdoor dining (or playing any of the plentiful table games provided in the unit). Everything you need is in the unit, you just have to bring your own clothes and food and you will be hosted in a beautiful country; in a spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean, ground floor studio; by two of the best hosts we have ever had!

Harbour Hideway is a great gem in Placencia. It is conveniently located close to many of the eateries and attractions of the island. The Crow's Nest Tower on the top floor that Jim and Cindy, the owners, have built has a beautiful view of the marsh, lagoon, and surrounding scenery. The sunset from the deck was one of the most beautiful sights during our whole trip to Belize. In addition to the beautiful views the studio itself was a very homely and equipped with all the necessary amenities. Jim and Cindy were immensely hospitable and helpful. Not only were they very welcoming but they also made sure we were able to enjoy the activities around the island. We wanted to go snorkeling, but I can't swim; Jim and Cindy not only recommended a great company that provided a personal instructor for me, but also helped us get in touch with them. We lived in a expensive hotel in an exclusive part of the island for a night before coming to Harbor Hideway, but Harbor Hideway was much more enjoyable as we were able to do many unique things and get a better sense of the country. We recommend it wholeheartedly!

Harbour Hideaway was the perfect place to stay in Placencia. Just a few minutes walk or cycle (on the bikes provided) away from the centre of the village it was ideal for us as two single ladies. We were close enough to all that was going on to enjoy the local vibe but it felt a little more secure & secluded being just out of the centre of the action. Jim & Cindy were perfect hosts and couldn't have been more helpful. They are friendly & informative about the local area but not at all intrusive. The accomodation was comfortable & had everything we needed & had hoped for. The only downside was leaving at the end of our trip - Harbour Hideaway had become our home & we didn't want leave it & our new friends Jim & Cindy!

We had an excellent stay at the Harbour Hideaway. The pictures on line were exactly what we found upon our arrival. The house was everything we had hoped for. It was open, airy and very comfortable. Everything we needed was furnished, cooking, laundry, even swimming just off the patio in the lagoon. The owner, Jim was very helpful in getting us settled. He showed us around town, pointed out the markets and got us acquainted with how things worked in Placencia. The location was good because we did not have a car and everything was within walking distance. Although town was close, the house had a feel of remoteness. It was quiet at night. The only problem we encountered was that the bed was too hard for Debbie. I found it to be very comfortable. There is no doubt that when we get back to Placencia, we will stay at the Harbour Hideaway again. It was truly wonderful.

Cindy and Jim were, from the first email to the final ride to the airport, exceptionally gracious hosts. They responded to our emails promptly and courteously. Our contract and payment arrangments were easily managed. Upon our arrival, we were delightfully blown away by the accommodations! The photos on VRBO were quite accurate, but did not fully convey the spaciousness nor the level of attention to detail of the finishwork in this first floor studio. The linens were exceptional and everything was very clean and fresh. The kitchen was complete and handy. The tiled bathroom was very nicely finished. The laundry was available for us to share with the owners. Our son accompanied us the first week and stayed on the futon which he said was quite comfortable. He particularly enjoyed fishing in the canal right outside the home. From the spacious veranda to the breezy shade of the crows nest, the views range from tranquil to breathtaking. Bicycles increased the area of exploration from the village up the penninsula to quiet spots and friendly encounters. Placencia village offers an abudance of restaurants, shops and bars along it's busy main road, around corners, down the sidewalk, on the beach. Our hosts contributed recommendations and suggested wonderful local entertainment and side trips. We made friends in the nighborhood and also in town. The people who have settled in this interesting area have made it a truly international village. The monetary exchange rate was 2 to 1, Belize dollars to US dollars. We tried to have Belize money for daily spending, however, it was also easy to pay for nearly anything with our US cash. The January weather in Belize was gorgeous, with temps 80-87 degrees F everyday. On two days and over night on 3 occassions, we received rain. We swam nearly everyday in the Placencia Bay. We were advised by our host, Jim, on where to snorkel to find corals and colorful fish. We rented kayaks one day for a tour around the mangroves in search of rays, dolphin, manatees and birds. Many tours are offered from Placencia into the surrounding waters, mountains and jungle. You cannot lack for something interesting to do and the perfect weather in which to do it!

Why the Owner Chose Placencia Village:
We fell in love with the laid-back little fishing village of Placencia after discovering it just by chance. We liked it so much that we returned often - each time for longer and longer stays - and ultimately retired here and built a home.

The Unique Benefits at this Studio:
