Annapolis house description
Our home has 14 rooms with seven bedrooms. There are nine (9) working fireplaces, a rear patio with shade garden, a lovely second floor deck overlooking the State House dome, and we are directly across from the beautiful and historic St. John’s College. There is a DVD and (free) book library, a bright front parlor with chess game table, a formal dining room with antique leaded glass, and high-speed wireless Internet and phone available at no charge. All suites have private bath, iPod docking station and flat screen TV, heated towel racks, hair dryers, iron and ironing boards, and all the linens you will need. ALSO, ALL BEDROOM SUITES ARE VERY PRIVATE (NO CONNECTING WALLS).
Our vision for our home was to preserve the original architectural beauty of its era- with large, bright and colorful rooms, while providing a full range of modern amenities, including sprinkler system and central heat and air with five zones.
We are three blocks from the Naval Academy to the East and 2 blocks from the State House to the West. Our home also sits just two blocks off of Church Circle, which is the logistical “heart” of the town’s historic district. In one direction off of the circle, there’s Main Street. With just one step down the slope of this cobblestone road, you’ll fall in love with this town. It’s because of the view that goes straight down the road to the Annapolis dock harbor, and out onto the Chesapeake Bay. So take your time, stroll Main Street and duck in and out of novelty and gift shops, restaurants, boutiques, art galleries, cafes, and more – it would take you hours to see it all.
On the other side of Church Circle, you’ve got West Street- home of the famed Rams Head Live, and other restaurants like Metropolitan, Level, Tsunami , Carpaccio’s and Luna Blu. While you’re there, stop by the Annapolis Convention and Visitors Bureau for a full list of things to do. We’ve been in Annapolis for 20+ years and active in the community, so we can also help you plan your visit to be a full and rewarding one!

Our two families thoroughly enjoyed our stay for a Naval Academy wedding. The owners were informative and extremely helpful with directions and restaurant options. The house is extremely well appointed and comfortable for our group of 13. And the location was convenient to both the Academy and the Historic District. We would recommend Royal Folly, and would stay there again.

Our stay at the Royal Folly was a true pleasure. The house was beautiful and well equipped. It's perfect central location made all points of interest (Navy Stadium, Naval Academy, State House, Main Street and Harbor) all within a very easy walk. Annapolis never disappoints us and the Royal Folly was true to Annapolis' charm. Thanks to Pat and Ed for being so hospitable and sharing their beautiful home! Our stay will go down as one of our family's favorite vacations.

Owner response: We've named our home the Royal Folly because we want you to feel like royalty. Also, as George Bernard Shaw once quipped: "What is life but a series of inspired Follies"! Glad and hope your experience was a royal inspiration, full of enjoyment.
Amazing whole house rental for our entire wedding party!
Amazing whole house rental for our entire wedding party!
First, the pictures don't do the house justice... simply an amazing historic house in downtown Annapolis. The rooms were immaculate, cozy, and very private. The only peeps from other guests came from the hallway when going to their rooms. The parlor and dining room are huge! We entertained friends and family after the wedding reception and everyone had a wonderful time :) A great walking experience (just look for State Circle) to get to all local restaurants and shopping (Galway Bay, reviewed by Guy Fieri, is just a block away). We were able to get to the wedding at St. Mary's church and walk back from the reception at the Marriott in short order. Ed and Patricia will definitely be seeing us again when we're in town to visit family, can't wait!

Owner response: Thank you for the kind words. We love to see our guests enjoying our beautiful town. Being in the heart of all the activity, with so much to do and see is the reason why we love our location, and we love to share our home for gatherings like this! Thanks for taking such good care of our home!
We had a wonderful time staying here! We rented out the house for a weekend with our wedding party during our wedding, and everyone loved the place! Beautiful old house, amazing bedrooms, and plenty of room for all 14 of us! And the location could not be better, it is so easy to walk to the waterfront, shops, and restaurants. The owners were very nice and helpful, and all our friends had a blast here! So much better than a hotel!

Why the Owner Chose Annapolis:
Annapolis is a town with an extensive history and diverse activities, including all water sports (some say it is the sailing capital of America), great shopping, live entertainment and plays, and is the quintessential walking town. We are in the middle of the historic district yet in a quiet area near the Governor's mansion. This becomes a haven of comfort- just far enough away from the late night taverns' night noise. St. John's College across the street are also great neighbors- providing green space for strolling along College Creek.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Rooms are very well appointed, and very secluded from one another so there is a feeling of comfort and privacy. It is also a great home to have a private or catered gathering. You won't need a car- we are within easy walking distance to all attractions. There is also a free state parking garage on weekends just 1 block away.
