As soon as we drove up the hill to this nicely secluded yurt, we felt happy. It was exactly what we were looking for. When we opened the front door we were surprised at how spacious it was. Very private and peaceful. The gazebo, a huge deck, bbq, full kitchen, and an amazing upper loft are all part of the experience.

We had a great little get away for the few days we were able to steal away from work, the place was well furnished and the cabin nicely secluded, it felt very much like our own little home away from home. The composting toilet took a bit of getting used to but I suppose it makes sense for a remote place like this. It great have a hot shower and all the conveniences of home. definitely not the Hilton but it matched what we were looking for. It could stan a few improvments but all in all we thought it was a great bargain.

Owner response: I know I still have a little work to do, the plan was to upgrade the composting toilets as well as finish some of the other unfinished projects this summer. I am glad you enjoyed your stay.

I'd read the previous reviews and was familiar with the area and the idea of a yurt in the area of Doseywallips State Park was inviting. Whoops. On the ferry ride over from Seattle, I called the owner to confirm check-in and check-out times. He said, "Whenever you get there is fine, but just remember when you leave Sunday morning to make the bed." "Um, okay," I replied, hung up and even said outloud "Eewww - 'MAKE the bed'?!" Not "change the sheets"? Maybe that's what he meant, but it creeped me out from the get-go. Long story short, the yurt itself is delightful, well-furnished (even overly so), and the movies and books selection is excellent. However, the three "beds" are not beds at all but futon mattresses upstairs, and the composting toilet is great IF you don't have to get up at 3 a.m. and think about cranking that thing! It is a great retreat, but you need to know that it is RURAL and funky - just make sure your camping companions know ahead of time that's it's not as you might have hoped.

Owner response: I regret it is not what you were looking for. We have put a lot a work into fixing up the place but it is a cabin and took care to stock it as well as possible with amenities. I plan on replacing the composting toilet with a more user friendly version later this year. There are two futons and two regular mattresses just for the record.I ask people to clean up after themselves, and change the sheets when they leave. This allows me to keep the price correspondingly reasonable. Unfortunately it is not possible to please everybody, but of the 60 or so times I have rented it out only two have complained and most have taken very good care of the place.

My wife and I were married in September and took our honeymoon in October. We decided to find a cozy cabin on the Olympic peninsula since we've spent a lot of time there scuba diving and just love the area. I am so glad we found this ad. You can't get so much value in a hotel/motel/cabin/anything anywhere else. The yurt is really well furnished with just about everything you need in the kitchen (except a cork screw!) to cook during your stay, or simply microwave frozen dinners if you so desire. There are plenty of movies and books, a radio to connect your mp3 player to if you want. The sleeping loft is wonderful, and has three large beds. There isn't much shopping to be had nearby in case you want to pick up groceries. Just a general store. Go south to Hoodsport though and you'll hit a grocery store in about a half hour with a nice scenic drive each way. I took one star away for the composting toilet which is a bit of a hassle, but I gave it back because it's so darn eco-friendly. The Portlander in me is impressed. My wife and I will be returning any time we need a relaxing weekend out of town. Maybe we'll even use it as a home base when we're scuba diving in the area? Totally thrilled with this find!

My husband and I visited the yurt recently. When we opened the door, we were met with warmth, fragrance, and coziness. We were surprised at all of the amenities! Electric heat, a wood stove, plently of wood, a large TV for DVD/VCRs. There were 5 shelves of family friendly videos, and 5 shelves of books! The kitchen had everything. Upstairs in the loft are 3 large beds, with a dome skylight to watch the rain,or snow,or stars...beautiful...Outside is a huge deck and gazebo with BBQ grill, overlooking wilderness... We visited the stunning nearby waterfall, and went further on to hike on the Duckabush trail along the Dosewallups river. In short, the best, most well-equipped "cabin" we have been to so far....and the beauty of the wilderness can't be beat!!

I was surprised that none of the reviews mentioned Rocky Brook Falls which is two miles away and provided the gem in our weekend. I drove by it with my daugher by accident and I don't think she or I will ever forget just being together and gazing up at it. Dad enjoyed the Geoduck, a local bar. Plenty of hiking to keep more active types busy. Location, location, location. This place has it.

We enjoyed our weekend stay in this snug yurt / cabin. It has all the comforts of home (kitchen, shower, TV, comfortable beds etc.) but has a rustic feel about it. I would highly recommend it if you're looking for a quiet, inexpensive get away.

My children and I enjoyed our 2 day stay very much. The wood stove kept it very warm and the furnishings are comfortable and cozy. My kids were amazed at the very large composting throne. We enjoyed our meals on the beautiful deck and in the gazebo area. Thank you Paul.

Very homey and comfortable with plenty of space for my two daughters and me. When it rained I built a fire in the woodstove and we read, played cards, and actually spent Quality time together! We were all thankful for no wifi at the cabin. There Is wifi avaliable however, just minutes from there at a wonderful little coffee shop at the marina. When the sun came out I hit Triton State Park with my kayak ,while my girls fished off the dock there. We traversed many nearby mountain roads so I could get in some photography, and found absolutely beautiful scenery. The owner promptly answered my e-mails and phone call. We'll be staying there again. My daughter calls our new vacation spot "Yurt Sweet Yurt"

                  Year Purchased: 2006

About the owner: My wife Svetana and I have spent the last three years working on the place and enjoy being there ourselves. We live in Seattle and work in Bremerton. We both wish we could make it out there more often out like every one else life is very busy. We enjoy the outdoors and kayak and fish as much as we can. I have been coming to this area ever since I moved to the NW twenty years ago. Often you see the elk, or bald eagles, chipmunks, or the other creature that inhabit these woods. I have stood on the deck and watched a herd of 50 elk walk by, other mornings I walk out and see deer on the hillside above. Paul and Lana

                  Why the Owner Chose Brinnon:
This is a great place to relax and let things go. You can go play outdoors or you can just sit and read while you listen to the sound of wildlife around you. We like this area because it is close to Seattle yet far away.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
we are more relaxed all the time we are here, I feel like life is more in perspective. I hope our guests enjoy their stay as much as Lana and I enjoyed creating it.
