Charming Getaway Just Five Blocks from Downtown
- Minimum stay:3 nights
- Internet:No
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This charming downtowner, built in 1895, is just 3 blocks from all that they city center has to offer to include restaurants, coffee shops, art gallaries, multiple parks, playgrounds, walking and biking paths, and even a quaint but classy downtown movie theater. Not far from that is a charming upstairs bowling alley/bar/restaurant called 'Downtown Lanes.' Very clever!
The house itself has a wonderful large front porch complete with a porch swing and patio chairs where you can sit and enjoy your first cup of coffee in the morning while you read the paper and plan your day's activites. The grounds are beautifully maintained with potted flowers and gardens everywhere. Later, you can enjoy the umbrella covered table in the back yard while you barbeque and unwind from the day's events. When the weather is colder, the bright and sunny breakfast nook is just the ticket. There is also a dining room that will seat up to eight friends and loved ones for more formal events or holiday get togethers.
After enjoying your day, you can clean up while lounging in the antique paw foot tub or take a shower if you prefer. Later you can retire in the lovely master bedroom, complete with a queen sized bed. There is a second bedroom with extra long twin bunk beds to accomodate adults as well as kids.
When you are ready to get out and about, you are just two blocks west of a biking/walking path called Shooks Run that has two playgrounds and two tennis courts and you are four blocks east of Monument Park, a biking/walking path that skirts the city ornamental gardens, a public swimming pool, playgrounds, tennis courts, and two lovely man-made ponds, as well as the newer, lovely 'America the Beautiful' park.
You are 3 'blocks' from downtown, 5 'blocks' away from Colorado College, 5 miles from the famous 5 star Broadmoor Hotel and golf course, 6.2 miles from the World Arena, 3 miles from Old Colorado City; 7 miles from Manitou Springs, 6 miles from the Garden of the Gods, and 18 miles from the Air Force Academy. Cripple creek and Denver are both approximately an hour away and the Colorado Springs Airport is 15 minutes away.
50% of the rental/cleaningl fee is due at booking with the other half due 45 days before arrival.
9.4% mandatory lodging tax on the rental cost for stays shorter than 30 days. 7.4% tax on stays over 30 days.

We stayed in Colorado Springs for a week in this house. It was a very nice house, with everything you would need, full kitchen, comfy beds, nice relaxing living room (no cable so bring DVD's) and a very nice back yard. We were able to cook meals, and BBQ a few times throughout the week which made our vacation experience very very enjoyable. The location is very quiet and we didn't hear a lot of traffic or any kind of noise at night, and if you wanted to walk to downtown you are only a few blocks away. We spent most of our time out in the mountains and trails so we didn't do the city thing but this location seemed to be very centrally located in relation to everything we wanted to go and visit. I would recommend this house if you're going to be visiting the area. Talked at length with the owner while we were there and she is very nice. Everything went very well and we had a great vacation, would definitely stay here again if we're ever back in the area. Thank you Connie!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We really enjoyed this visit to Colorado Springs. I felt like I was at home; the house is charming, homey and comfortable. It was close to downtown and had a variety of dining experiences. I totaly recommend this house and plan on going back for a longer stay. Great place for rest and relaxation. And if you are a thrift store aficionado like us, you'll be in paradise!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

Very charming home. Had everything we needed....even hangers in the closet!! Fairly close to many attractions. Even though the home is across a school it's very quiet. Parking was a challenge the first day or two but once the neighbors figured out we were there it was fine. Reasonable price.....I would highly recommend staying here!!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Since this was our second stay we already knew the charm of this house. As before, the property was in excellent condition. We especially appreciated the Christmas tree and decorations which enabled us to feel at home. We again spent some lovely time in the kitchen, reading in the morning sunlight. Likewise, we enjoyed fixing our meals in the large kitchen where we ate most of our meals. We did use the formal dining room for our Christmas meal. We appreciate the attention and care that the owner made to make our stay wonderful. We would recommend this house to anyone who wants a comfortable and pleasant place to stay that is very convenient to the main attractions of Colorado Springs.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This was my second year at this property for Thanksgiving. It is the perfect place. Where do I begin. The location is awesome in the historical North End. Beautifule, safe and convenient. You can walk downtown in only a few minutes. The house itself is spacious, warmly decorated and well appointed. The kitchen is large and fully stocked. There is a formal dining room, Living Room and two bedrooms. There is a spacious back yard for summer and a great washer and dryer. Great climate control. We love a warm bathroom in the winter. The owner is awesome. She has everything ready to a tee when you arrive. Everything down to your first morning's coffe is stocked as well as snacks. I highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit the area.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We had such a nice time in your rental home. Everyone who came to visit was so impressed with the house (tidyness, landscaping, ammenities, decor). Thank you for opening your home to us. Wish I could take that front proch swing back to Florida. Sincerely...Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

It was just the right size for our family of three and was centrally located. We spent a lot of time at Garden of the Gods, hiking, running, and horseback riding. We also went to Pike's Peak (via COG railway), Florrisant National Park, Dinosaur Resource Center, Wolf Center, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Broadmoor Hotel, and Pioneer Musuem. We also took a 1/2 day trip to Denver to the American Girl Store. The Weather was great, coolish, but not too cold for us Southerners. The restaurants were OK but we did really like Poor Richard's Pizza and book store. We love how easy it is to get around Colorado Springs--there seems to be little traffic. My eight year old daughter's favorites were hiking and the Wolf Center.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We very much enjoyed staying at this house in Colorado Springs. The house was a good size for us (two adults + 2 teenage kids) and is nicely presented. The sunny back garden was a 'bonus' and the front porch swing seat was well used! A short walk to downtown or a short drive to all the best thigs to do in the Colorado Springs area. Would certainly recommend and would like to come back sometime.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

The perfect house for exploring Colorado Springs! Walk to the Colorado Pioneer Museum, have lunch at Phantom Canyon brewpub and stop by the Acacia Park farmer’s market for produce and prepared food. Head home and cook up your bounty in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoy your meal in the beautifully landscaped back courtyard. The Little Market is less than a mile away, should you need essentials like milk, emery boards or free ripe bananas for pancakes. All downtown destinations are easily walkable. You can shop, eat or splash in a fountain without ever getting into a car. The house easily accommodates four – we comfortably cheered on Team USA nightly during our 2012 Summer Olympics opening week stay. Incidentally, you don’t have to be a marathon runner to hoof it to the U.S. Olympic Training Center. The house is charming, comfortable and ideally located. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, the Broadmoor (don’t miss the Golden Bee and a sunset stroll around the lake), Manitou Springs and, if you are so inclined, the Manitou Incline are just a short drive away. We loved our week in this sweet abode and can’t wait to come back. Connie was great to work with, communicative and efficient. Thanks, Connie! P.S. - great porch swing.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car.

Connie was a great host and her home was perfect in every way! We had the best vacation because we had such a comfy home to stay in. The back and front yard provided us hours of enjoyment and the home itself is sweet, comfortable, and had everything you need to feel right at home. I would highly recommend it and plan to stay there again.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

"Within walking distance of the house ... maybe 8 to 10 blocks maximum. It has a wonderful water fountain that small children especially love to play in. Every hour the top pops up and music plays and the fountain spray changes. The kids love it and you will, too. There is a starbuks right accross the street for coffe and lots of picnic tables and park benches. In the summer, you will often find free concerts here."

Monument Valley Park
"I am having a hard time not giving everything 5 stars. I love this park. You can ride your bike all the way to Vail Colorado if you wanted to. But it's great for walking and only a few blocks from the house. Be sure and walk north, cross over the first road/bridge that you can and head north again through the ornamental gardens and on to a lovely pond. Take bread to feed the ducks and geese. In spring there is a blue heron that hangs out there for about three weeks. We have had beaver and muskrat make their homes on that pond. And in the spring their are kingfishers that next there. I love this little spot in memorial park."

"Talk to me about the loop I want you to do that takes in Old Gold Camp Road through old mining tunnels, then comes down Cheyenne Canyon where you stop and do a short hike up Helen Hunt Falls and then drive by Star Kemps place (the sculptures in the yard are amazing) on your way to the Broadmoor Hotel. You must walk through the hotel and around the lake (the views of the mountains and golf course are so lovely). Finish with a coffee or wine on the patio overlooking the lake. "

About the owner: I moved to Colorado Springs in 1987. I am a behavioral health counselor and have owned and managed rentals since 2000. I love the mountains and enjoy many outdoor sports to include skiing, hiking, mountain biking. I also enjoy the arts, coffee shops, and restaurants as well as the local shopping. I can give you ideas on where to bike, hike, dance, walk, eat, sight-see, explore the theater and arts, shop, or catch a movie ... and all within walking distance.
Why the Owner Chose Colorado Springs:
The downtown area is a perfect location for those who want to be close to all that Colorado Springs has to offer. I used to live in this home myself and already had it decorated so it was an easy conversion. It is also a perfect location for someone who needs a charming, furnished, corporate rental for a short stay.
