My family and I spent thanksgiving week at Otter's Pub and we all had a great time. The in-law suite was perfect for mom and dad to get away from the teenagers movie selection. The description of the property is very accurate and the property was well maintained. The unfortunate part of the trip was due to mother nature, also known as hurricane Sandy, which left the road passable by 4x4 only. Fortunately, we had 4x4 vehicles so we were able to get to the property without too much fuss. I would definitely want to return during either the spring or end of summer months to take advantage of the attractions.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.

It is definitely on a canal, it was a lot smaller then what the pictures show, we were expecting it to be wider and the yard bigger. The one thing we did not like was the fact that the mother-in law suite was not conntected to the upstairs, so we didn't feel safe having my mom stay down there by herself so luckily there was another bedroom for her to sleep in upstairs. For the most part the place was clean, the toilet was a little shaky but we got use to it after awhile. And we couldn't find the towels, washclothes and pillowcases at first then we looked in the TV stand and there they were. The one thing that made me the most uncomfortable was the fact there was someone there while we were at the store. The only reason we knew was from the wine cooler bottle they left at the bottle of the steps to get in the house and the hot tub was uncovered when we returned, it was just an unsettling feeling after that. Also we had a difficult time locking the door to the rental and we were not about to sleep with it unlocked. It is a nice rental for those who are gone most of the day or people with little kids who like to fish.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Otters Pub is very popular with those people traveling together that like the privacy afforded by the large mother-in-law-suite. It is a very comfortable, user-friendly beach cottage with all the ammenities, including a large dock to enjoy fishing and crabbing in addition to docking your boat. The hot tub is serviced after every guest and also checked mid-week to insure itself cleanliness! Check our calendar and come visit OBX, we'd love to have you!!!

We had a great time at Otter's Pub. I can honestly say it was one of the cleanest places I've been in! We kayaked on the canal, caught crabs, a sting ray and several eels...not to mention fish! Local restaurants were awesome (The Fish House, the Gingerbread house, the Sand Bar and Grill and Dinky's in Hatteras)! Beautiful sunsets and great relaxation!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We shared this house with friends and had plenty of space. The listing and photos were accurate and having a hot tub was wonderful. The owner was prompt in answering any questions and takes good care of the house. We enjoyed eating out and cooking in, shopping at local art galleries, getting a massage just down the road, driving go carts, spending time at a couple of the beaches and seeing the lighthouses. The only complaint was the lack of towels; there were seven people and six towels, along with hand towels and washcloths. Our friends flew in and we chose this house partly because of the fact that linens were included. All of us ended up purchasing beach towels to use at the house and at the beach. Due to showers, hot tub and going to the ocean we were always washing either the provided towels or the ones we bought.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Had a great few days staying at this house, which is conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood in the town of Frisco, between Hatteras and Avon. Lots to see and do nearby, and we even went during the off-season. The owner was always very prompt and helpful in answering questions. It's the ideal place for two couples or a family to use as a base to get out and see as much of the Outer Banks as you can. And when you return in the evening, the hot tub is waiting. Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

The pictures did not do this place justice! This place is so cute - everything new or almost new. Loved the huge kitchen and the hot tub on the deck! The pine accent walls are great - I might do that to my house when I get home. 72 degrees during Christmas week is unreal - we are so lucky! Kids used kayak almost every day and went fishing too. Even though the town is real quiet during the winter we had a blast. Took the ferry to Ocracroke, went to the museums, and just had fun! I will definitely be back here again at Otters Pub.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

this cottage is best for small family. The location is beautiful, view of the canal, birds, boats, etc is like a picture postcard! Brigands Bay is quiet and fun to walk or bike around in. Great sound access. For going to the beach, you should have a SUV or 4WD pickup as you must drive to the beach. Easy access to either ramp 49 or short drive to ramp 45.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Otters Pub is the perfect getaway for a family or couples that want to vacation together but have their own space - the comfortable mother-in-law suite allows each to have to have their own space. Driving on the beach is great fun but, for those visitors that prefer not to drive on the beach, there are several locations with a parking lot you can park and walk a short distance to the beach; in Buxton by the lighthouse is one place, another is by the Frisco pier. Check us out, we'd love to have you!

We have been at OBX 4 times and each time have been searching for a place that fits ALL of our desires, and we found the place! Sleeping arraingements, clean, affordable, boating (with our boat right outside and no towing), crabbing, hottub, separate quarters for our friends to have some privacy, all convieniences, good location, pet friendly, quiet neighborhood, great communication and information from the owner, I mean I don't think anything is missing! Everyone has commented that they could "Live here"! Looking forward to coming next year, hope it all works out!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Otter's Pub is in a nice plan of cottages, all with frontage on canals to the bay. The area is quiet and great for fishermen. We highly recommend it. The cottage is also within short drives of the beach, stores and restaurants, and charter fishing boats. The cottage has comfortable accommodations and furnishings. A private suite on the first floor has its own full bathroom and two bedrooms on the second floor share another full bath. The kitchen comes with attractive cherry cabinets and is well stocked. A nice flat screen TV and sound system is included. A 2 person kayak is provided on the grounds and can be launched from the dock. We used it frequently. There's decent crabbing from the dock, and canals, and the bay is a short paddle away. For those with their own boats the dock and canals provide ideal access to the boat from the back of the house to the bay.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Otter's Pub is a popular cottage, particularly with those needing the additional space with our mother-in-law suite. It has wonderful ammenities, to include a relaxing hot tub, great boat dockage and a 2-person kayak, plus we recently installed WiFi. Come visit us in the beautiful Outer Banks, we'd love to have you!
