Great House in a Perfect Location

Guest: Travis (Carrboro, NC)
Date of Stay: 04/06/12 Review Submitted: 05/18/12

This is really a wonderful house in a great location. It's right downtown but on a quiet, beautiful street. The house was clean, nicely decorated, and well stocked with dishes, bedding, towels, etc. The owners were friendly, accommodating, and quick to respond to questions and requests. Two minor negative points (both of which are easily outweighed by the positives): The $125 cleaning fee seemed a little high considering that they require that you wash your own dishes and linens. The plug-in air fresheners they have (six of them) are really overwhelming (everything I brought on the trip got infused with purple perfume). That said, I'd definitely recommend the place and I'd stay again.

Can not say enough about this house. A group of ladies from Cary got together for a girls' weekend in Asheville and were blown away by this wonderful place. The beautiful decor, amazingly comfortable furniture and incredible location makes this a destination for a family getaway or girlfriend getaway at any time of the year. We were So well situated to downtown and all it has to offer! The porch is so inviting as is the inside of the house that you are spoiled for choice regarding staying in or eating out at the various amazing restaurants. I will go back again and again to the cozy cottage and this time hope to spend even more time just enjoying the relaxation that the cottage cottage offers!! Perfect place for morning coffee, afternoon cocktails and everything in between. Can't imagine going to Asheville and staying anywhere else!!

Annual Girls Trip (PERFECT!)

Guest: Lesley (Charlotte, NC)
Date of Stay: 11/11/11 Review Submitted: 11/17/11

My friends and I have been coming to Asheville for years. We've stayed at some good places but never quite found our niche. Without any hesitation, the Cozy Cottage will be the only place we will stay every year we visit. It is essentially a block away from everything - shopping, music, food, bars, clubs & wonderful people. We walked everywhere. The house was so comfy. Everything from the beds to the rocking chairs on the front porch. The owners were more than helpful and accomodating. Thank you Cozy Cottage for making our annual girl's trip sooo great. We can't wait to be back next year! Lesley G. (Charlotte, NC)

Cozy Cottage November 2011 Girls Weekend

Guest: Jan (Charlotte, NC)
Date of Stay: 11/11/11 Review Submitted: 11/17/11

Every year about 5 girls get together and take a trip to Asheville for a nice get a way retreat. While this year was a little different as we waited until last minute to book a place. Thanks to the Cozy Cottage and the wonderful owners we found this great house which we couldnt have been more happy with. The location to downtown restaurants and social life was perfect. The weather was so beautiful we spent a lot of time on the relaxing front porch rocking chairs just chatting away. We drove in on Friday night and never had to use the car again until we left on Monday. There is nothing bad to say about the stay we had in the Cozy Cottage. I would definitely recommend it for any kind of get a way you are looking to have whether it is a family event or friend retreat. We had a blast and we even cooked one night so we could enjoy the house even more. Thanks to the Cozy Cottage owners for welcoming us in to their place for a very relaxing and wonderful weekend. We are definitely looking forward to next year!

Great House in a Perfect Location

Guest: Corey (Eddyville, KY)
Date of Stay: 08/19/11 Review Submitted: 08/24/11

Myself and a few of my friends had to arrange a trip to Asheville on short notice. When looking at hotels within walking distance to downtown, the only options appeared to be sold out, substandard or overly expensive. This house was a blessing, filling a need and providing a great place to meet. I highly recommend.

I stayed with 6 friends in May and we had a blast! This house is a VERY short walk to several fun places, including French Broad Chocolates, Salsa, The Orange Peel & the Mast General Store. It was clean and spacious. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of parking space. I will be renting this property again!

Not for young children

Guest: the well traveled family (United States)
Date of Stay: 04/22/11 Review Submitted: 05/04/11

Great location for getting around downtown but very loud. We live in a city and are use to ambient noise but we heard sirens at least once a night, jack hammers at 6 am, and the local music venue late at night. Prior to booking the house I did inquire about the noise level but was told it was a very quiet and peaceful street. Since we would be traveling with a 10 month old I asked about a crib or pack and play and was told he thought they had one we could use. It turns out they did not have one so I rented one from a company in Asheville. The company needed to drop it off before we arrived in town and I was charged $35 for the house to be unlocked! The person in charge of renting the house not only charged me the $35 but then told me I could rent a pack and play from him for the same price. I have NEVER stayed somewhere that charged me to use a pack and play or crib! We also asked for a late checkout but were told it was not possible even though the house was going to be unoccupied that night.

Owner response:When I was young, my grandmother used to repeat a phrase to me that was a sort of mantra for her life; she would say, "there is absolutely no problem that cannot be solved simply through communicating with one another". Wise & sage advise indeed, and advise that applies just as much today as it did for her in her life. Communication can be the hallmark of a positive vacation experience, and is of course, a 2-way street. No one is perfect, and as an owner/manager of numerous VRBO properties I am certainly not immune to making mistakes, stumbling on occasion, missing something, or not quite hitting the marks for one of our guests. I strive for perfection, and do pretty darn well based solely on the vast number of 5-star reviews for all of our luxury properties featured on VRBO. We provide more than just a vacation home, but a complete vacation experience. From the start I try very hard to cultivate a welcoming platform for dialogue and communication, and will go beyond the "norm" to make our guests stays the best. I tried to do that in this case, chasing down leads for a crib or "pack-n-play", but was unsuccessful. The most unfortunate part about the above guests review, is the fact that this was the 1st I heard of any issues or problems, after their stay. I can assure you, the traveller, that I will do whatever is necessary to address complaints, issues, or even things outside of my control, like the City repairing ruptured water lines at 6:00 AM in the morning. But you, the guest, have the responsibility to "communicate" with me, and to share your concerns, so that we can make "it right". And the only way to offer any sort of help, assistance, or proactive action is to know that there is an issue at that time, not after you are back home. It is extremely unfortunate that these guests vacation was not an absolute memorable success, and I have directly apologized for that. Additionally, we have offered these guests a FREE return trip to any of our VRBO properties in Asheville. Additionally, due to their review, we have purchased a "pack-n-play" that we now have at the house for guests, at no charge. Happy travels, and we look forward to learning from this, encouraging strong lines of communication, and making the next travelers experience a memorable, 5-star one!

Perfect cottage right near the action in downtown.

Guest: Young Couple (Atlanta)
Date of Stay: 02/11/11 Review Submitted: 02/13/11

We booked the Cozy Cottage at the very last minute (the day of) for a weekend getaway. The manager was very helpful throughout the entire process. The cottage is just blocks away from the heart of downtown Asheville. After parking our car at check-in we didn't need it again until we checked out. We ate all of our meals out, but the cottage seems to be fully-stocked with all necessary cookware for cooking there. It was just my wife and I attending this time, but there would was another spacious bedroom and a kid's bedroom alcove as well making this a good place for family getaways as well. Last time we visited Asheville, we gave up some in amenities in order to be close to the city. This is the best of both worlds. A great kitchen, great living room area, anything you could need. My wife and I remarked that this would be our dream urban home: a cozy little home right near the city.

The location is excellent for visiting downtown Asheville. The house was decorated beautifully and very clean. Owner was easy to communicate with. I would definitely recommend! We hiked trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway, ate at Tupelo Honey, and enjoyed downtown.

5 of us met in Asheville for kayaking, mountain biking and rock climbing. We found the house to be a great place to rest and regroup before walking out the door to numerous restaurants and watering holes. The house was clean, very cozy, had lots of parking and very conveniently located. I will look to stay at the Cozy Cottage next time I'm in Asheville.

My wife and I just spent three nights in the home on our first visit to Asheville. We would stay here again in a heart beat! Great location to enjoy downtown and all it has to offer. Owners did not forget anything....very clean and so much more enjoyable than a hotel room. Quiet with off street parking. We felt like we were at home. Park the car and enjoy!

2 Adults & 4 Teens!!! What a weekend! Your cottage is in the HEART of all the action!! 2 Blocks from downtown, coffee, shops, churches, activities, Art Museum and Restaraunts!!! We had a short drive to Chimney Rock (35 min).......Your Cottage was PERFECT! So Immaculate, well decorated, new appliances and EXTREMELY comfortable BEDS!! We LOVED the Direct TV too (Football weekend!) The mornings were spent on the large front porch drinking coffee and people-watching. The kitchen had everything you could imagine, you left us needing only the clothes on our backs & the food we consumed!! The whole family wants to visit again soon!!! Thank you for allowing us to make the cottage our home for the Labor Day weekend- we will definately be back again soon!

The title is a perfect title for this charming cottage in Asheville.

This home is even more charming than pictured on VRBO. It truly is located right downtown as it states. We loved being able to park our cars without a worry and walk everywhere. We enjoyed the following places, The City Bakery is where we went for our morning stop for pastries and freshly baked rolls, (only just a few minutes from the house). We saw a movie at the theater on Biltmore and then, we went to The French Broad Chocolate Lounge---and I must say, the liquid truffles were awesome. I'm still dreaming of another liquid truffle. Kubo's Japanese Restaurant on Biltmore had the best Sushi, that we possibly have ever eaten. We were fortunate to see a free outdoor concert at Pack Park, again just right up the street, what a beautiful experience under the mountain skies at night. We fell in love with Asheville and plan to make this cottage and Asheville, our home away from home. This home exceeded all our expectations. There was so much more to see, we can't wait to go back. Thanks for the wonderful stay and memories. Cindy and family in Texas.

Fabulous house, great location! My family and I had a wonderful stay in the heart of downtown Ashville. This warm and welcoming home clearly exceeded our expectations. It is exquisitely furnished, maticulously kept, and filled with architectural details; not what I expected from a rental. We couldn't have asked for a better location either; only two short blocks from the restaurant-linned Biltmore Avenue. My family and I walked in the cool, dry mountain air for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We frequented The Green Sage for Coffee and breakfast muffins...awesome! For dinner, Kubos, an elegant Japanese restaurant was first class. If you're into music, The Orange Peel, a small concert venue is only a block away. I was the first to wake in the mornings, so I would don a pair of running shoes and run the scenic downtown area in wonderful mid-summer 65 degree air, a refreshing break from sweltering Charleston. I can confidently say we had a great vacation in large part because of our choice of homes. I give this house my highest endorsement; we're definetely going to stay there again.

A fantastic stay, the house was amazing. We were snowed in for four days and never got bored as the house was so cozy and comfortable. We had so much fun in those 4 days and made wonderful memories playing in the snow and having snow ball fights in the front yard. I will return again and again.
