  Wife and I found this gem to be close to small markets, beautiful walking choices to the beach or natural trails, minutes away from downtown, the harbor, freeway or Santa Barbara City College. What surprised us both was how quiet this area is during the day or night. No car alarms going off at various hours or loud quests trying to find their way to their room. All we could hear where the fountains and small birds which is very relaxing after a long drive. Talking with the owners gave us great insight into this charming neighborhood and Santa Barbara Art Community. In fact, the only thing missing with this rental is a refrigerator full of food and drink which of coarse is your own personal touch to make this an enchanting vacation memory.

  My husband and I planned on a few days away from our current situation, and this was the place. It helped us relax, yet there was plenty of relaxing things to do. Walk to the beach, stroll along the beach, went bike riding. We brought our own but John & Maxine did have some to loan. All the gorgeous plants, water fountain, and birds and frogs you could hear you felt like you were in paradise. (Didn't see any frogs if you are afraid of them). Just heard them which was actually soothing. Grilled burgers on the grill provided. All very nice. I rode to the reserve not far from them, which was nice. My husband went out on a fishing charter we had fish tacos! Over all it was very nice.

  We spent 2 nights here when dropping our youngest off at Santa Barbara City College. The property was easy to find and in a great location easily accessible to the school and State Street as well as the beach. It was a nicely appointed, cozy retreat. Quite small, but perfect for a couple. The garden and yard surrounding are peaceful and tropical and it was a quick walk to the beach. Our only regret was that we were so busy getting our daughter settled, we had no time to enjoy the garden and patio at the property. The kitchenette is pretty tiny and the sink is on the patio in the outside kitchen area, but it would be fun to use the area if we had had time. We hope to come back for future visits!

  We really enjoyed our stay in Santa Barbara and found this guest house exceeded our expectations. It's quite lovely and as advertised, very peaceful. The location is convenient to shopping and the beach. The owners were gracious, helpful, and respected our privacy. What more could you ask for?

  We had Such a wonderful time staying here. Very comfortable/cozy and more roomy than expected. From the beautiful garden to the spacious deck and kitchenette everything thing you need has been well thought of. (Thanks for beautiful fruits and veggies from your garden:)) Devine!!) The location is ideal for anyone but especially for our dogs as they loved walking down to Douglas Preserve and Hendry's Dog Beach. Mesa is one of our favorite areas in SB and is close to everything especially the Beach. You won't be dispappointed with this VRBO rental, unless like us, you don't stay LONG ENough. We look fowrard to our future visit here. Woof!

  This was a much needed vacation for me and I just wanted to relax and unwind. Maxine's place was just the place to do that. 2 patios filled with flowers and calming plantation. Mother nature sounds to lull you to sleep, different birds, frogs and night sounds. The place was very clean and has all the necessities of a casita you would need, even a BBQ. A short walk to a secluded beach. Maxine even provided us with fresh pick oranges and apples from her trees. Overall, fulfilled my much needed getaway vacation.

  Adorable spot...reminded me of an enchanted secret garden. Maxine really went out of her way to welcome us. The backyard deck/patio was my favorite part. I felt like I was on my very own island:-) This rental is very conveniently located, well kept, offered at a more than reasonable rate, and definitely offers more personality than the usual.

  We've stayed in Santa Barbara numerous times over the past 6 years in a few of the VRBO offerings and this turned out to be the best by far. The pictures don't do it justice. The place was immaculate and had many creature comforts provided. Maxine and John are great hosts. The beach is very close by and so is the Mesa Plaza. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet but close to everything stay.

  We loved our one-week stay at this apartment. Plenty of privacy and the location (close to the beach and biking distance to downtown) was perfect. The two adult bikes were so appreciated and well maintained. Our hosts were gracious and kind (flowers in the room) without being nosy. Description was accurate, but the photos don't do this cute place justice! Riding to Stearn's Wharf and walking along the beach (bring baby oil to remove the tarballs from your feet and shoes!) were just what we needed. You can't go wrong in Santa Barbara, but a few favorites were Kanaloe Fish Market (hard to find but well worth it), seeing a movie at the Arlington, the view from the Mission and ogling the gardens everywhere.

  I don't think the description does this space justice, it is as described and more. The apartment is so peaceful with the sound of birds and beautiful gardens and just the perfect location! The apartment was very clean, which is important when you have a little (or two) crawling around and discovering. The owners filled the space with personal artwork and other visually appealing pieces, without being too cluttered. Everything we needed was supplied in the apartment and we were very comfortable with 2 adults and 2 small children, we just wish we could have stayed longer! We are definitely keeping information for this rental and plan on returning!! Thank you both John and Maxine!
