I would give this place six stars if I could. Everything was as advertised, and it was much better equipped than one would expect. If there was anything that wasn't there, you didn't need it. Having said that, reviews are also supposed to help others make informed decisions. Here are three things to consider. First, the location is private, quiet, gets cool breezes due to the height and features a great ocean view, but it is a few miles away from the shore, shops, restaurants etc. That's made clear in the ad, but if you want to walk to things or hear the ocean from your bedroom, this isn't the choice. Second, the Big Island is BIG, and if you are staying in Kona you are going to have to drive to see the sights beyond Kona/Kailua. Hilo is at least two hours and Volcano National Park is two hours on a good day. On the other hand, if you stay in Hilo you are going to get wet, and Kona has more services than any location except Hilo. Third, if lounging around the living room is important, (and why would you want to) the furniture is ok, but not the most comfortable. If you want to veg out, the Lani furniture is quite comfortable and there are two comfortable chaise lounges under an umbrella at the pool.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

First Class - with attention to the little details that make the stay perfect! This was a perfect vacation rental. I have stayed in many vacation rentals and this is by far the best, the cleanest, and the most comfortable. In addition, Paul and Amy provide great information on the island. Their recommendations were spot on. Even as a seasoned traveler to the BIg Island , I learned of a new beach that was perfect for swimming, snorkeling, with shade for a picnic and viewing of turtles on the sand. It was as I stated in the title truly amazing and first class. I am grateful to Paul and Amy for sharing their home. Mahalo.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We recently stayed in this rental and it exceeded all of our expectations. From sunrise to sunset the views are breathtaking and the covered porch was perfect for enjoying them. The place was very clean and the renters so welcoming, we felt really taken care of. The rental or as the owners call it a lanai is in an absolute perfect location. As a new visitor to the Big Island I was unsure of the distances, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out it is near the beaches, restaurants and of course the shopping! ? Not to say it is in the hustle and bustle of everything, it is still quietly tucked away, providing the right amount of privacy. The rental includes a private pool for any time of the day you wish. Along with everything, Paul and Amy were so helpful in directing us to activities we had interest in, as well as providing us with the toys to really enjoy them! While we were there, Amy and Paul also provided us with their bikes, kayaks and a grill to cook the fresh fish available in Kona. As a student, the wireless internet in the rental was a life saver, allowing me to keep up even in paradise. Lastly, the washer and dryer, doesn’t seem like you would really care if there was one in the unit but it was wonderful to be able to go home with a suitcase full of clean clothes! Overall, this rental and the amenities that came with it made my vacation one I will never forget. I can’t wait to book my next trip in this wonderful space.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just spent seven nights at this property, and it was absolutely fantastic!!! I can't say enough wonderful things about the accommodations and the helpful information we received from the owners. The place was extremely clean and well-maintained. We loved that we were close to beaches, restaurants, stores, etc. but far enough away that it was quiet, peaceful, and private. The lanai was awesome for drinking coffee and welcoming the day, and for watching the beautiful sunsets. We slept wonderfully (quiet neighborhood and comfortable bed). We made good use of the snorkel gear, kayaks, beach chairs, etc. Extremely convenient to have use of these items as we maximized our visits to the beaches! We also enjoyed the convenience and comfort of the well-stocked kitchen (and grill) so we could avoid eating out for every meal... This property was perfect for our visit and really helped us maximize our time on the Big Island so we could get just the right amount of adventure and rest/relaxation. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives, and we would definitely stay here again should we return to the Big Island!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just returned from a four-week stay at the property. We couldn't have asked for more. The amenities were well-matched for our interests. We used the kayaks, the bicycles, the beach chairs, the cooler, the outdoor grill, the swimming pool, the outdoor table. . . The accommodations were just right for two people. The kitchen was functional and we cooked dinner most nights. There is even a rice cooker. The location was convenient and in a very quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed being removed from the crowded Alii Drive accommodations. We would most definitely stay there again.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Everything about this place was excellent. Sometimes when you see pictures on properties they are deceiving but not this one, every direction you looked the view was beautiful. Landscaping was amazing and ocean views were fantastic. Sometimes places say they are clean, this place was spotless and believe me I'm picky. I've stayed in others that claimed they were clean but were dusty and only looked clean from a distance. The pool was wonderful and private. Amy and Paul were great, supplied all the info on the area you might want know. Everything you needed for the beach. This place was great because it was so quiet and away from all the hustle and bustle but still so close to everything. We wish we could've stayed longer than seven nights. The kitchen had everything you need except maybe a little frying pan for a couple of eggs we could only find a big one. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was really nice too. Don't be afraid to choose this place it was wonderful and you won't regret it. It cost a lot of money to make a trip to hawaii and you don't want to be disappointed with the place you pick. We hope someday to make it back and would be happy to stay here again. Also, the neighborhood is a very nice one, never even saw any neighbors. Mahalo, Amy and Paul for sharing your piece of paradise.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a lovely place. The fact that we are headed back for another 8 nights in January is probably endorsement enough but Paul and Amy deserve hearty thanks for sharing their lovely home. The apartment is a wonderful base for exploring the Big Island. You will do a good bit of driving if you want to see the rest of the Island but that would be the case with any one home base you choose on Hawaii. The apartment is the best vacation rental that we have ever experienced. Very tastefully decorated, extremely comfortable, private, quiet and equipped with everything you will need. The private pool and lanai are just delightful. We plan to spend most of our time enjoying them during our next visit. You will wish you had more time to spend at Kona Sea View and you will want to return. I feel very fortunate to be able to.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a fantastic three weeks at Kona Sea View. The unit was perfect - clean, tidy, well finished, well maintained, great new appliances, private, quiet, and in a beautiful setting. You can tell that Paul and Amy have really thought about how to make your stay easy, fun and comfortable. Highly recommended as a base on the Big Island.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

All the 5 star reviews we read before we rented were true. The place exceeded our expectations. Being a bit more than a mile up the mountain from the beach is a huge blessing. It's quiet, has a pleasant cool breeze and a wonderful view to the west. The hosts are gracious, unobtrusive and happy to assist in every way, making our stay carefree and easy. The place was spotlessly clean and came equipped with everything we could have wanted (pool, kayak, snorkel gear, cooler, bicycles, beach chairs and mats). A rental car is needed. The turn around and parking area is a bit small so we would recommend mid size or smaller vehicle to make things easier. A good value for an exceptional vacation spot. We stayed two weeks and will be returning in the future.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
