This is an outstanding historic home. It is set on a quiet 2 acres and has a main house (3 bedrooms) and a stand alone studio. The house has been updated over the years and is in close proximity to both the local ski resorts of belleayre and hunter valley. It is 20 minutes from Woodstock, New York. There are many great local restaurants and activities for the whole family.
The rental has a rich history and was home to both a world renowed painter and an author. It is a wonderful retreat away from the busy pace of life!

Our Christmas in Shandaken
Our Christmas in Shandaken

We spent the most beautiful Christmas here at this wonderful farmhouse on the side of a mountain, complete with stream, detached cottage and a big old barn! The fireplace room was sooo warm and cozy, and with wood left for us stacked on the porch, we felt secure even with the news of the approaching blizzard! There were comfortable pretty linens in the bedrooms, and fluffy towels in the baths, and I might add we each enjoyed a nice soak in the wonderfully deep bathtub! I loved the wavy glass in big old windows and after our family left we cozied up by the fire and let the snow fall! When we saw this listing, I knew it would be perfect for our 2010 family Christmas!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.
