My wife and I were greeted by the gracious owners upon our arrival. The property listing was was highly accurate, and the pictures of the property are informative in appearance, but cannot truly relay the quality and beauty of the property. After the necessary paperwork, the owner immediately inquired as to what we would like to do, see, etc. and followed up our responses with multiple options. Where to eat, such as Exotica, Citrus, Azul, and breakfast at the French Bakery or Tico-style at Marvin's. The Beaches, which are numerous, included Playa Uvita, Playa Ballena, and several other beautiful black sand beaches. And souvenirs---at the rugged surfer beach in Dominical along with lunch at Tortilla Flats on the beach---all were covered. But the accommodations were the most inviting. The property included large, clean and comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms, and a well-equipped and more than efficient kitchen with matching glasses, table and dinnerware for our use in the very large comfortable terrace or patio. Then the short walk to the gleaming pool through a rainbow of flowering plants coupled with hummingbirds, butterflies, and overhung by a huge Costa Rican National Tree---the Guanacaste. The pool is accompanied by a party bar, sink, and personal refrigerator in a covered area that housed the Dry Heat Sauna and enclosed bathroom with a tiled shower outside for our use after a leisurely swim or game of pool volleyball. Accompanying the pool area is a short walk down to the river revealing another portion of a "Land that Time Forgot" with myriad ferns, palms, and sprouting trees. As you walk under a canopy of tropical forest and sounds, we leisurely following the sounds of the river flowing over smoothly worn rocks and boulders that create a visual effect that soothes the mind and soul. And then you see the huge gnarly roots, clinging to the Earth as the ancient tree reaches up to the clouds in the blue sky. If you want to de-stress, relax, and begin to understand Pura Vida, this is Fiesta Del Rio---Magic Times, for sure---in a Land that Time Forgot.

I was very lucky to stay at Fiesta Del Rio for two weeks. It was extremely clean and private. I found the host and hostess extremely well versed with their area and were excited to tell me about the community and Costa Rican customs. They helped me to find interesting places to go and see. Where the best places were to go and eat. They introduced me to the most amazing beach "Whales Tail". I spent 2 relaxing afternoons there just walking and soaking up the sun. I met the most fun loving and friendly people during my stay there. I would recommend staying at Fiesta Del Rio to anyone who wants to visit Costa Rica as it truely is the most remarkable place to visit and I would do it again in a heartbeat. When I return to Costa Rica I will definately stay here! Pura Vida :)

We just returned from a great trip to Costa Rica and spent a wonderful week at Ken and Sharon Stone's lovely little Casita in the Ojochal area. The property is a 15 minute drive off the Costenara Highway, but well worth the trip. The posted pictures of the house and the descriptions of the amenities are totally accurate. We found the house to be immaculate. Ceiling fans in all the rooms help to keep you cool and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. We really appreciated the blender for all the fresh fruit drinks we enjoyed. The grounds are well maintained; there is a very nice pool, and the guesthouse is well away from the main house for privacy. The washing machine and clothesline were a real bonus. Because the property is nestled in the jungle and has a river flowing nearby, we heard and saw the howler monkeys, and woke up each morning to a symphony chorus of birdsong of various species. It was awesome. Ken and Sharon are gracious and friendly hosts and provided helpful information about the area, and readily shared the fresh fruit from their garden. There are ample activities to pursue in this area and some very private pristine beaches. There are a number of excellent restaurants that we enjoyed dining at and loved the little French bakery and cafe. We also attended a great church service (both in English and Spanish) at the Iglesia de la Costa in the neighbouring town of Uvita. We would not hesitate to return to this area and to Fiesta del Rio, and recommend it as a great base from which to explore this area of Costa Rica.

We have just returned from two wonderful weeks in Costa Rica and our delightful stay at Fiesta del Rio. The 2 bedroom en-suite "casita" was perfect for 2 couples and is well stocked with all that you would need. Each morning we made breakfast and had a cup of the wonderful Costa Rican coffee as we sat at the beautiful outdoor ding table checking e-mail and planning our day’s activities. Ken & Sharon were enjoyable, welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable about everything Costa Rica. They could guide you whether you are planning for various activities for a short vacation or more complex questions regarding living in Costa Rica either part or full time. The “jungle” property was spectacular and included our very own chorus of Howler monkeys, toucans, parrots and much more. The pool was only a few feet away and fantastic. We were included in one of Ken & Sharon’s famous ‘Potluck-pool volleyball parties’ replete with live local music and a variety of very interesting friends and neighbors of the hosts. I enjoyed my impromptu duties as the ‘resident’ bartender! This was our second trip to this beautiful, relaxing country and we plan to return next year but for at least 4-6 weeks. Ken and Sharon were outstanding hosts and we would not hesitate to return to our little home away from home again. Thanks again, Ken & Sharon! PURA VIDA ! We stayed at Fiesta del Rio for six weeks this winter and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. It was our first time to Costa Rica and staying here helped to make it wonderful. The well maintained house is lovely and the bedrooms are roomy, airy and very comfortable with adjoining full bathrooms. The livingroom/kitchen is quaint and has everything that you need for your vacation whether it is one week or one month. The outside sitting/dining area , where we spent alot of time, is great with an outdoor food prep area and a very nice full size propane bbq. The front of the house has a very nice patio area to sit in the shade and have your morning coffee. The surrounding property is beautiful and well maintained. The friendly town has everything you need and the restaurants are awesome. The house is on the edge of the jungle so you see all kinds of birds, monkeys and critters which is great for picture taking and just plain watching. Fifteen minutes down the road you are on the main coastal highway and you can experience lots of things to do such as surfing, boat rides, zip lining, sightseeing. or just driving to see the scenery. There are beautiful beaches and waterfalls very close and you will want to see as many as possible. We had a great time, never experienced anything like it. The owners, Ken and Sharon, are awesome people and they make you feel so welcome and will help you with information regarding the area or anything else you may need to know. We are hoping to return sometime in the future and hopefully stay there again. Thank you Ken and Sharon for being such wonderful hosts and including us and making us feel so welcome and at home. Would highly recommend this vacation property to anyone who is looking for a unique and fulfilling vacation experience.

I have just returned from spending a month at Fiesta del Rio. The listing and photos were totally accurate, if anything the casita is better than publicized. The house was spotlessly clean, the kitchen fully stocked with matching sets of dishes, glasses (both glass and plasticware), flatware, cookware that was not beat up and my favorites - a garlic press and lemon juicer to maximize the enjoyment of the limons available to pick on the property. The casita and main house are separated by lovely landscaping including a hedge that is constantly filled with hummingbirds, butterflies and a varitey of other birds. It provides all the privacy one would want but also communicates the welcome that Ken and Sharon issued upon my arrival, "mi casa es su casa." Sharon made sure to let me know about the various herbs and fruit growing in their yard and welcomed me to "shop locally in their garden" at any time. They were generous with information including; local food shopping, beach access, social gatherings such as happy hours and a community Thanksgiving dinner. Who would have thought I would be in Costa Rica, renting from Canadian expats and enjoy a full on traditional American Thanksgiving dinner? Ken and Sharon are two amazing people. When you leave Fiesta del Rio you will have two new, special friends along with all of the other wonderful memories. The location of the casita is idyllic. It takes a few minutes more than normal to travel the few kilometers but the gift for the travel is a peaceful location where the most noise you will ever enjoy will be the sounds of the jungle and the flowing river. It is an ideal place for morning walks exploring the general area. Toucans, flycatchers, monkeys were among the sights and sounds on every morning's walk. Ojochal is a lovely little village. The variety of high quality restaurants is pretty astonishing. And, not to be missed is the local Soda Land where you can get typical fare and some bakery items. The local mercardo has everything you need from staples to olive oil, balsamic vinegar....or there is a larger one in the next town. There is also a butcher shop and right outside town a fisherman who sells fresh off the boat fish daily. Lovely people everywhere you look. The location is convenient for many tourist activities. Check with Mary at More than Transfers in Uvita and she will make sure to find exactly the type of tour you want,

We just spent 2 of the most enjoyable months in this lovely home. Ken and Sharon are wonderful hosts and were there to help us through some stressful times. This casita is beautiful and well cared for. The landscape is very pretty and the ticos that work there are very friendly. I would definitely recommend this property. You have to go and see it to really appreciate it. Thanks Ken and Sharon, you are great friends and were such a help to us in our first 2 months in Costa Rica. God Bless you both.

What could be better? A beautiful casita with every amenity & wonderful hosts. Ken & Sharon are the two most gracious hosts my husband & I have ever encountered. We had an unexpected rainy week, but thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet amidst the ever-present jungle and river sounds of Fiesta Del Rio. The casita is so comfortable (very comfy bed, also) and we loved the outdoor dining table. Already looking forward to our next visit! We had pruchased a lot in a neighboring area in 2010 and Ken & Sharon spent a fair amount of time talking over our plans with us and tromping around our property sharing ideas for building our home. Thanks so much for all your input! As others reviewers have said, we thorughly enjoyed our stay and feel blessed with new friendships:).

This was our fourth trip to Costa Rica, renting a private home through VRBO.com. Fiesta del Rio exceeded our expectations! The 2 bedroom ensuite "casita" was adorable, very well maintained and very clean, perfect for our group which included my husband and I and a friend that was traveling with us. Set on lovely grounds with many beautiful plants that attract birds a plenty and a pool up a seperate garden walkway, the setting is increbibly relaxing. Located about 10 minutes from the Costanera (main road) it is very accessable while being away from the hustle of town life. The owners, Ken and Sharon Stone, are a gracious, welcoming couple that went above and beyond to include us in their social calendar. Luckily, we were able to share a great evening together over dinner on our last evening. We enjoyed their 3 dogs as well, as we had to leave our pup behind at home in California! I would stay again in a heart beat!!!! A+++++ Thanks for everything Ken and Sharon, we will keep in touch. * Nearby one will find lovely, deserted beaches, a variety of activities to choose from, great restaurants for every budget and beautiful jungle scenery in every direction. Pura Vida

Wow, you will be surprised what you will find waiting for you after a bit of a drive from the airport followed by a short drive through the roads in the jungle .... Fiesta Del Rio is everything in this listing description and more - it is certainly an ideal destination for nature lovers who want to enjoy it fully ..... the place is surrounded by natural beauty - a perfect hideaway from city life. A photographer's paradise - the flora and fauna is breathtaking. We highly recommend this "little bit of heaven in the jungle" where you will be provided with all the amenities you need in this lovely guest house located on a beautiful, clean and well-maintained property. Ken and Sharon were amazing hosts .... without their recommendations we would not have discovered all that we did - wonderful restaurants, ecological tours where we had the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the mangrove forest where wildlife is most fascinating - we had a wonderful two weeks - we look forward to returning to the peace and tranquility of Costa Rica.

The long trip from the San Jose airport was worth getting to this destination! We went to bed so peacefully each night with all the jungle bugs and toads singing us to sleep, and we had howler monkeys, toucans, and parrots wake us up every "jungle" morning!! The house was new & clean, and the pool was a perfect end to everyday. The pictures on here were true to the place. It was a great property for us, our mother & 2.5 yr. old daughter! It being a first trip for us, made having Ken & Sharon on site to help with our every need, a perfect place to stay! They even had many fruits growing right on the property for us to enjoy- lemons, limes, bananas, pineapples. The town may be small, but the area is amazing!! We even had a rare, strong storm come through the area one evening, and we were thankful they had a generator! The local area had so many great restaurants/sodas, and the beaches seemed private and are breathetaking! If you want a selection of street vendored souvenirs then go to Dominical, right along the surfing beach.. We went to a little church in Uvita and it was fun trying to converse with the locals! We met alot of great people there, friends of the owners and also very friendly locals. There were so many things we didn't have time for in just one week!! We plan to spend more time there next time! We have told all of our friends here in Colorado that this is a great place for them to come and see!!! Thanks so much Ken & Sharon for everything while we were there, it was great to meet you guys!! Till we see you again! Mike and Linda

We just returned from 4 wonderful weeks at Sharon & Ken's guest house. The actual facilities met and exceeded everything in the listing. Very comfortable and clean and the beds were fantastic. We didn't want for anything as the guest house, pool, and pool cabina had everything you could possibly want for comfort and relaxation. The grounds are beautiful and the nearby river is a special treat and only a very short walk from the pool. Monkeys, toucans, and many other birds were common visitors. The wildlife was great, but the family pets were even better. The dogs, cat, and chickens are all great characters. The surrounding region has everything you need from grocery stores, restaurants, beautiful secluded beaches, and plenty of tours and activities. Sharon & Ken are great hosts and are very knowledgeable of the area. We wish we were still there.

We just got back from our wonderful vacation in Costa Rica. What a great set up Ken and Sharon have. The guest house is just perfect for 2 couples and has all you need for a comfortable stay. A few steps up from the guest house and you will find the pool set in the jungle where we bathed in the sun for many hours. We went on a horseback riding tour highly recommended by Ken and Sharon and it was a great adventure and we all had a great time. We sure can't wait until our next visit to Costa Rica, thanks for being such great hosts Ken and Sharon.

We highly recommend Fiesta del Rio! You will enjoy the beautiful Guest House that is equipped with everything that you will need - 2 good sized bedrooms each with it's own ensuite, open concept living room & kitchen with patio doors leading to the outdoor dining area. A few steps up the walkway and you are at the pool - great for spending the day, cooling off after a day in the sun or a few games of pool volleyball - located in a jungle setting. Located close to breathtaking beaches, great restaurants, tours etc. We felt that this was our home away from home. We could have easily stayed another month. Ken & Sharon were the perfect hosts! They definitely made our stay special. This was our first non-all inclusive and we can't wait to return!!!! Our only regret is we couldn't stay longer. Loved every minute of it!!!

Owner response: Thank you, thank you. We loved every moment we had with the both of you whether it was relaxing with a brown bottled pop or some quality time up at the pool. I didn't expect to find very comfortable accomodations in Costa Rica, but this one beats every house or hotel i've stayed in Europe too. You'll find everything you can read in the description, very clean, no mosquitos around, drinkable water, tidy and big garden, free wi-fi, and the house istself is even better than the pics here. Hummingbirds in the garden, monkeys and toucans on the trees around the pool, ideal climate to have lunch outdoor and to sleep quietly make a very relaxing stay. Few miles (and good roads) from Dominical, Playa Ballena, Uvita, Piedras Blancas N.P., close to deserted tropical beaches, waves to ride, adventurous guided tours, wildlife everywhere. Close to supermarkets, good restaurants and sodas, and banks just outside the small town. And Ken & Sharon are the best part of it, wonderful wonderful persons. You are definitely going to miss this place when you're gone

My wife,Dena and I,recently bought property in Costa Rica.Well,we wanted to see the "rainy season"and we picked a good one (best in like 60 years). Our reservations for the the first 3 nights were washed out by mud slides and closed roads. However,we pushed through and arrived a day early at Fiesta Del Rio.Not even sure that we would even make there,Sharron, quickly got everything in order and we settled in for the week.A beautiful place owned by two of the nicest people we've ever met. They had what they call a "juice",one of the best parties we've every been to.Their friends are amazing too. We'll be back because I think we have met some of our future best friends. That the moving to CR a much less scary thought. Thanks for making a wet and miserable trip an extremely pleasant and memorable pleasure. Your friends, Dena and Mick

I've traveled up and down the coast and this is, without a doubt, the best value out there! If you are looking for a nice place to stay in Ojochal, this guest house should be at the top of your list! The guesthouse is located in a very private setting... you can hear the rush of a nearby river and the all the sounds that this natural setting has to offer. The two bedroom, two bath guest house is nearly brand new and spotless! The beds are 4 star hotel quality! Nice kitchen too... but with all the outstanding restaruants in Ojochal there is no reason to cook! If you don't feel like going to one of the many nearby world-class beaches take a deep in the refreshing pool just steps from your private outdoor patio area. I'll be back... that's for sure!
