  My first time back to Hawaii in 25 plus years and could not have asked for more. The condo was nicely renovated and clean. The beach was miles of sand and perfect for walks, snorkeling, swimming or just relaxing. The BBQ area was a perfect place to meet some of the people who lived there year round. Off your patio you could throw a stone to the beach and nice to listen to the waves at night. The condo building itself was kept up well and decorated for the holiday season with santa and christmas lights. We visited many of the popular beaches around and found ours to be the best and most peaceful. The people were most friendly and helpful and the pool area was awesome but who needs that when you have a beautiful beach right at your finger tips. Their was a laundry room right down the hall for your usage and was supplied well. The photo's were dead on actually it was better then i had hoped for. We did a day trip for snorkeling which was right down the road walking distance. I hope to go back soon and would recommend friends to stay there.

  The ad depicts a relaxing private oasis. What you get, infact, is a small condo in a dark and dingy hall that has absolutely no privacy. Upon entering the condo we went straight to the bedroom after a long day of traveling and we greeted by a big stain on the bed. We decided to make the best of it and went to watch some tv...to our surprise both chairs were also badly stained. We then thought the lanai had looked so nice and private and headed outside. To our dismay, it was nothing but private. The fence is much shorter than the angle of the picture displays and the view is the parking lot with a construction site...anything but private! The people next door were outside and we could see them while sitting down. The entire building appeared old and outdated with many repairs needed. There were lots of people realizing about, all who appeared to have been drinking for the entire day and not in the cleanest of clothes. The people were so loud we could hear them right through the walls and the were no where near us. We did not feel safe there to say the least! Barbara was out of town so we could not speak to her until the next morning but we were able to get in contact with her leaner who quickly met us there and got us to another place for the night. This place was much nicer, however rented the next day so we had to leave. I will say that the remaining picture clearly picture the place but it is quite small. And read the ad carefully, that picture of he beach looks tempting and it close, but the unit is not on the water...you must navigate the sketchy hallways I order to get there. Luckily for us, we were able to find another suite on our own through vrbo.com and did not have to spend our honeymoon in this "private oasis"

  Owner response: Aloha, so sorry a guest's stay was not as expected but just some clarification of the facts: The entire outside of the condo complex was painted just this past summer. While painting many enhancements were made to all the buildings. The wood privacy fence is 5 feet tall and has plantings all around. This is a condo not a private home so there are neighbors on each side. There are no 'sketchy' hallways but open walkways with tropical plantings in the middle with a fishpond. I suppose this may be hard to see if you arrive in the evening. I've passed along the comments about the loudness to the condo management since there are rules about noise. During this arrival I was out of town visiting with my grand kids for the Christmas holiday. There is always an on-Island contact person immediately available to help when I am not available and my colleague stepped in to move these guests to an oceanfront condo a few buildings down...all within 2 hours of the arrival when the accommodations were not satisfactory. Although the oceanfront condo was only available for that night, another oceanfront condo was offered for the duration of the stay. It was declined because it was not beachfront. As you can see we try our best to accommodate when there's a perceived problem. A full refund was also given. As always we try to improve for future guests and have looked into all comments to improve for the future.

  1st it isn't a private yard, it over looks the parking lot where the majority of the time there were construction workers using that area of the parking lot to store material or for their smoking breaks. Also, most of the plants around the fence have been cut down. The unit has been remodeled but some of the decor is different then pictured. The blinds in the unit don't all open & are very dusty. The unit could use a good dusting of all furniture (of which I did do some). The unit is also darker then it appears in the pictures as it doesn't get much sun light. In the evenings a group of homeowners gather for happy hour (ie: smoking) by the bbq area which makes it a little intimidating for guests. The beach is nice. So, if you plan on using this location as just a home base & would be gone the majority of the day this unit could work. I wouldn't recommend it for a relaxing, romantic holiday.

  Owner response: Aloha, unfortunately this guest arrived just as the whole condo complex was about to be painted...so things were in a little disarray around the complex. The plants around the fence were trimmed in preparation of the painting but will grow back rapidly in this Maui sun and warmth. An easy fix of moving to another condo building or a rebate of the rental cost could have been offered if this was known before the stay was over. We also have extra bedding that is sometimes on the bed that could make it look different than the picture but it is bright, clean and new. As always if I know of a concern ahead of time I can fix it while guests are there. Dusting is an easy fix. Many of the condos on our street have happy hour or morning coffee for residents and guests. This is a great way to get to know people and make new friends. All good feedback and will ask the condo association to give more notice when major maintenance is planned so incoming guests can be notified ahead of time with options.
