Location: North Palmetto Point, Eleuthera, Bahamas, Caribbean (20 minutes from Governor's Harbour Airport)

Accommodations:  House, 1 Bedroom + Detached Unit, 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 2)

"Calypso" features a spacious, one-bedroom, oceanfront main house plus completely separate additional smaller 1 bedroom oceanfront house on 600 feet of Atlantic beachfront and ten acres of gardens.

The main oceanfront house has cathedral-ceiling bedroom, living room, and dining room, bathroom, and kitchen totaling 1000 square feet. It is usually rented by couples but can additionally easily accommodate one to two children.

The additional 1 bedroom oceanfront unit is also quite separate. It has a small bedroom and bathroom, but the shower (hot and cold) is privately situated on the rear patio. The main space has separate kitchen, dining and living areas, all with ocean views. The 2 houses are separated by 200 feet and an intervening grove of palm trees, and each has its own driveway and 300 foot section of beach.

The main oceanfront house has an air conditioner in the bedroom only, and ceiling fans. It is 280 feet from the ocean's edge. The additional oceanfront unit has AC in the bedroom, and is only 60 feet from the ocean.

An ocean kayak, bicycles, and hammocks are provided. There is good snorkeling, lobstering, and fishing right off our beach. An outbuilding provides a chest freezer for guests' use.

There is a good restaurant within walking distance, and a grocery store is a 20-minute walk away.

Eleuthera is a quiet and empty island, nevertheless, it is quite large with hundreds of miles of coastline and numerous incredible secluded beaches - including some of the world's best! Amazingly, it can be reached by an hour's flight from Florida.

  • Wow. My now pregnant fiance and I stayed at Sea Star almost a year ago. It was simply amazing and beautiful. We still dream of coming back sometime later this year. Not a week goes by without one of us mentioning the trip to the other. Make sure you bring snorkel equipment, lots of sunblock, a camera, bug spray, and be sure to rent a car. You can travel along the highway and stop wherever you like, or ask Paul to take you into town and eat at the restraunts the locals own. Be cautious of the no-see-ums, and follow Pauls advice about the air flow in the house. The only regret we have is that we didnt stay longer. It is simply beautiful, and for swimming, go to the Carribean side, 10 minutes away. Oh, and make sure you borrow the Hawaiian Sling and try shooting a snapper, grouper, or lobster of the reefs in front of the house! Enjoy, and thanks again Paul and Pepper.

  • I STAYED AT THIS CALYPSO PROPERTY FOR A WEEK, FROM 2/23 TO 3/2 OF 2007. THE SEASTAR HOUSE IS WONDERFUL, JUST AS ADVERTISED. IT IS NOT A 4-STAR LUXURY ACCOMMODATION, BUT A CLEAN COMFORTABLE AND GRACIOUS HOME ON A 10-ACRE PROPERTY ON THE BEACH. I WAS TRAVELING ALONE AND WAS VERY PLEASED TO HAVE THE OWNERS AVAILABLE FOR ADVISE AND ASSISTANCE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. PAUL WAS PERFECT HOST, THERE WITH ANY HELP I NEEDED BUT INVISIBLE THE REST OF THE TIME. I TRULY FELT THE PROPERTY WAS ALL MINE WHILE I AS THERE. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO RETYURN TO THIS PROPERTY AND ENJOY THE QUIET PEACEFULLNESS OF THE CALYPSO PROPERTY AND ELEUTHERA AGAIN.
