Conveniently located, perfectly clean, nicely furnished, more than well-equipped. But enough about me. Visiting from Ontario, Casa del Sol was just the base my wife and I needed for our busy week in Penticton. Everything was better than advertised. We were able to entertain some friends with wine and a BBQ, which saved a few restaurant bills. No need to think twice - you'll be a hero to your travelling companions for picking this place!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Glenn! It was a pleasure to meet you both and we hope to see you again in Penticton. Loved your poem in the guest book!

The Casa del Sol was a wonderful place to spend the winter! As a ski instructor at Apex Mountain Resort, it was perfect for the two of us. With only one vehicle, if I was working, my wife could walk to almost every location she needed; shopping, fitness centre, the lake, or many restaurants. Our host, Allison and Dave have equiped their property with everything necesary to have a comfortable stay, and they were always available if we needed anything. Highly Recommended!!!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you John and Sheila. It was a pleasure to have you as winter guests!

It's no big surprise the Canucks have decided to stay home for training camp in 2011 considering all the travelling they did during the playoffs, but it's a bit of a letdown for the KB, as we had a lovely time in Penticton last September. Halford booked this cozy little cottage away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area, and it was just a really nice getaway, you know?Seriously, we stayed here. Cost about half as much as a hotel room and it came with a free bottle of wine. http://communities.canada.com/theprovince/blogs/kurtenblog/archive/2011/07/07/canucks-to-hold-training-camp-in-vancouver-kb-will-miss-romantic-penticton-cottage.aspxDid you find this review helpful? We rented during May and found a spotlessly clean, comfortable house. We wanted a kitchen but in the past have been disappointed when renting places with kitchens. No disappointments here. Everything we needed, pots, pans, knives, coffee makers, stove, microwave. And in addition, our wonderful hosts provided coffee, tea, fruit, a bottle of wine. The beds were comfy, the living room welcoming, the backyard warm and sunny even on a coolish day. The owners were helpful, gave us directions and advice. We enjoyed our stay!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Nothing is sweeter than coming to Penticton in May for the Meadowlark Festival, which is why we have been coming for the past ten years. Three years ago we discovered the Casa. And what a find. Conveniently placed for our field trips meeting places at the Tourist Centre (especially for those 6 a.m. starts, such as climbing up McIntyre Bluff), close to cafes and restaurants, but best of all, such a comfortable place to return to unwind and sit outside. And those comfortable beds! Allison and Dave are superb hosts. The Casa in May is one of the highlights of our year.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

I have just completed my second stay at Casa del sol this summer. The first time I came here with my family consisting of six adults and a two year old toddler. The second time I came with a friend. The cottage is perfect for a vacation as it is within an easy walk of the centre of Penticton as well as the beach, lake, wineries and hiking trails. The cottage is spotless and well appointed. Allison and Dave have done a wonderful job restoring the cottage to its former glory. In the summer' on Saturday mornings, the main street of Penticton is closed to traffic as it hosts a weekly market and this provides a perfect time to buy local produce and local crafts. The garden is a wonderful place to relax.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We visited Casa Del Sol in the summer with our adult daughter and friend visiting from the Philippines. We had a lovely 4 days visiting the wineries, floating the canal and relaxing at Casa. The little house is wonderful. Dave was there to greet us, give us keys and show us around. We were amazed at the little details throughout the house (a bowl of fresh picked cherries, flowers on the table) and the wonderfully stocked kitchen. Allison and Dave are meticulous in their upkeep. We loved looking at the pictures of the project of the house. The backyard is a little oasis of calm and tranquility, I even used some herbs from the garden! We left Penticton relaxed and refreshed. I would highly recommend Casa Del Sol to anyone who has high standards and is looking for the perfect little place to call home for a period of time.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We stayed at Casa Del Sol for a week at the end of June in 2010. It is a wonderful cottage that is accurately presented in its listing description/photos. It is conveniently located, attractively decorated, well maintained and well equipped (comfortable beds, lots of kitchen appliances/dishes, etc.). We loved staying at Casa Del Sol while enjoying all of the attractions/activities in the Penticton area. We particularly enjoyed barbecuing dinner, then sitting in the garden to eat. We have recommended Casa Del Sol to family/friends and are looking forward to staying there again next year. Diane & Bill from OntarioDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Arriving at Casa de Sol I was warmly greeted by Allison & Dave, they immediately made me feel at home. Absolutely everything you can imagine is provided including hiking, dining, & winery info, nothing is missed. I enjoyed the stroll along the river from the Casa to the street market which has locally grown fruits and veggies along with stands displaying local arts and crafts. Just steps away from here is the beach at Okanaghan Lake, the location couldn't be better. By the Lake we found numerous restaurants and cafes where you could enjoy dinner on the patio. I enjoyed my stay so much I returned with a friend and her two children. This time we saw a different aspect of Penticton as we were pressured to play mini golf, bumper boats, go karts, pedal boat rental on the Lake and of course floating down the famous river channel which connects Okanaghan Lake to Skaha Lake. This takes about 1 1/2 hours and is not to be missed if just to watch the unique floating devices people have come up with (imagine an inflatable floating island complete with palm tree!). It was always good to return to the Casa to prepare a BBQ while the children played safely in the pretty fenced garden complete with dining gazebo. I am returning next month for another short break from the city, this time to enjoy the wineries!!! I am addicted to holidays at the Casa and will be returning at least once a year for a good dose of R & R - this truly is a home away from home. Many thanks to the owners for sharing their "project" with us.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

“We are not hotel people, but rather we love to rent vacation houses so that we can be in a home away from home. During the past two decades we have rented vacation houses in British Columbia and in Europe. Casa del Sol was a wonderful discovery for us as we love to escape from the hectic pace of Vancouver to the beauty of the Okanagan Valley with its many wineries and extensive trails for cycling or walking. We have rented Casa del Sol twice in the Spring and in the Summer and we are looking forward to renting again in the Fall and in the Wintertime. The owners, Allison and Dave, make absolutely sure that everything and more is available for the comfort of their guests. We love to cook, so the well equipped spacious kitchen is perfect for us and there is a barbecue in the garden. The cottage, which is beautifully decorated and furnished, is very comfortable with good beds. We both feel that we have found the perfect year round escape from Vancouver and a super base for exploring the Okanagan Valley. A-M & C.C. Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: We purchased this little house in 2007 and completely refurbished it from top to bottom putting our carpentry skills and design talents to good use. We had moved to Penticton in 2005 and fell in love with the beauty of the Okanagan Valley. Our goal is to provide a relaxing and comfortable home with all the conveniences to make you feel at home. The compliment we most love to hear is; 'you thought of everything!' In December 2010, we became the first legally licensed vacation rental in Penticton.
Why the Owner Chose Penticton:
We had always loved the little flat roofed houses that are common in this area so when this little house came up for sale on our street we purchased it for a rental. However after putting 6 months of work and money into it, we realized we wanted to share it with friends and family and others who would appreciate the work we had done. The house is a natural for a vacation rental as it is so close to the beach and downtown areas. For the first three years we offered our little vacation rental house just by word of mouth and have just begun listing it on VRBO which has been highly recommended to us.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Convenient location to access all amenities and local attractions, meticulous care, private, relaxing back yard. 3 Fluffy bathrobes provided; also fresh ground coffee, tea and cooking spices always on hand.
