Cave Junction farmhouse description
The Maple Ranch Vacation Home is an extraordinary Vacation Rental, located on a 112 acre spread of premium grape vineyards, ponds, creeks, and mixed forestland in the heart of southwestern Oregon’s remote Siskiyou Mountains, an area renowned for its rugged geology and botanical specimens unique to any other location in the western hemisphere. This recently refreshed and comfortably appointed historic two-story ranch house is beautifully situated on a grassy rise overlooking the Illinois Valley with a breathtaking view of the nearby Klamath Range on the western horizon. With five spacious bedrooms, upstairs and down, and bathrooms on each floor, it easily accommodates up to twelve people, ideal for family reunions, multi-couple gatherings, business retreats, honeymoons, or second honeymoons.
Private, secluded, and convenient to hundreds of square miles of federally protected mountain trails and tranquil backcountry roads, a stay at Maple Ranch affords unlimited opportunities for lovers of the out-of-doors. Hiking, bird watching, horseback riding, bicycling, river rafting, creek-walking, kayaking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, wine tasting, rock climbing, spelunking, or simply exploring one of the last unspoiled wilderness wonderlands on the Pacific west coast are but some of the readily available options to those with a heart for the rare and remarkable.

Very nice place with lots of space! We loved the dog that stayed around the house. Great wine too! Lots of activities in the area and I will stay here again.

We loved this charming old farm house. From the wonderful sky lights to the view of a working vineyard. We had a fabulous stay

I absolutely loved this house. It's quiet, in the country, and private without being too remote. It was clean, had nice linens and a big, comfortable sectional in the living room. There is a huge, glorious walnut tree in the back yard, visible from all the upstairs back windows. Along with the wood paneling and trim, it felt like we were staying in a tree house. I spent a perfect afternoon beading at the picnic table under the tree -- no bugs or pests at all. Many of the fruit trees had ripe fruit that we happily sampled. There was a large, green lawn that made me wish we had brought lawn games or a soccer ball. My 80-something parents appreciated the main floor bedrooms and bathroom. My adult daughter loved the stained glass room upstairs. Everyone had their own space. Next time I need to get away, this is where I want to go. The only negative (having nothing to do with the house) is that Cave Junction doesn't have a lot of restaurants. Next time we'll think about eating in more. The wineries nearby are awesome though. We brought home quite a few bottles and my younger daughter had a great time feeding fish at Bridgeview. Milo was a friendly, but polite old fellow - an excellent greeting committee.

The house was really beautiful inside however when we first pulled upto it We were not so sure the outside could use alittle improvement. We did find the bedroom at the top of the stairs had something going on in the roof there was like a dirt found on the bed daily. However the location was great so quiet and cool, The dog that came to visit daily was a plus made us alittle less homesick for our dogs.

Owner response: Thank you for bringing the problem to our attention. The culprits in the upstairs bedroom are carpenters bees. Their boring created some fine sawdust that was filtering through small spaces in the rafters. We have dealt with them and will be looking for the entry point in the attic to stop any future bee endeavors. The bees are pollinaters and we prefer they be around the farm, but they are definitely not welcome in the attic. This farmhouse, the main portion built over 100 years ago, is structurally sound, but it is old and we don't expect it to look brand new. It has a lot of character as would be expected. Milo belongs to family that lives on the vineyard. He is very friendly and loves to visit anyone that will pay any attention to him.
We enjoyed the quaintness of the house. We live only 30 minutes from the property but thought it would be fun to get away from home. The rooms were very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked compared to other rentals we have encountered. Next year we plan to rent the Wilderness home just for fun. We went to the wineries and played golf.

Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at our home. I'm so glad you enjoyed it, the Wilderness Cottage is a great spot as well, I look forward to meeting you next year. I'm disappointed that I didn't get the chance this year. I hope you all enjoyed the golf course, it's run by volunteers who all work very hard to make it what it is. Have a great Autumn. Sincerely, Alicia Gerber
Acording to my Mother who is not always easy to please she said to me that everything was perfect, clean, beds were comfortable, etc. My only suggestion would be to lay some more gravel on the road to access the house to avoid pot holes and dust.

Owner response: Thanks so much Kim. Your family was wonderful, Im glad they enjoyed their time. We have filled pot holes, I guess it must have been right after your family left. Sorry for that. It something we do 4-5 times a year but they are pesky things and are determined to come back every time. Thanks again. Alicia Gerber
We booked this charming farm house for guests visiting from Huston. This was a considerable savings for a family of 6. We all enjoyed BBQ on the lawn and the little hikes around the vineyard. The golfers played 18 holes and were amazed that the course is all volunteer.Of course the proximity to the Redwoods and beach is always something we like to share and for some reason have to out of town friends to enjoy it ourselves. We reallly enjoyed staying at the farm house. It was very well maintained and clean. With five bedrooms we had no trouble sleeping 8 people. We had a extremely nice vacation and would definitely come back to this home if we ever return to Oregon. We highly recommend it.

Thank you! We loved being in this house. It's very comfortable, charming, and incredibly well equiped. It feels like a place someone could really live in, right down to the bread machine. Looking out at your vineyards (along with goats, chickens, and children) is just lovely. We hope we can do this again.
