We spent 4 nights here at the beginning of April, and we were NOT ready to leave! The owner was very responsive to my questions prior to our arrival, and she provided some suggestions and links to area restaurants and attractions, which was very helpful. The photos gave us a pretty accurate idea of the unit, and we were very pleased. (It was slightly smaller - a bit more 'hotel-room-like' - than we'd expected, but we were very comfortable and satisfied. The only other tweak I'd make would be to have a better/bigger TV with more channels, but we weren't there to watch TV anyway. The resort staff were very friendly, responsive, and accommodating which was an added bonus. We dined at the bar as well as the restaurant and were pleased with both. For a casual, convenient breakfast go next door (via the beach) and eat outside! We also ate dinner at Truluck's - very nice! Another great place to check out is the pier at Lauderdale by the Sea, just north a couple miles. We ate at Aruba Beach Cafe and loved to atmosphere (casual). I definitely recommend this unit for couples and would love to return! Tomorrow. :-)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

this rental was perfect for our stay. The owner is wonderful to work with and probably the best we have ever dealt with on VRBO. The room on the 5th floor has a great view of the ocean and the pool area and beyond. The staff is very friendly and will do anything to help out. The restaurants and bar were excellent. Sitting on the rocking chairs on the veranda viewing the ocean is about as relaxing as you can get. The sundry store with fresh coffee and ice cream was fun to have. the valet parking was very efficient. We will stay here again when we visit Ft. Lauderdale.Recommended for: Age 55+

My husband and I had a fabulous vacation in Ft. Lauderdale at the Pelican Grand Resort. The service was great. The room was very quaint, clean and spacious. We throughly enjoyed the Ocean View as well as the lazy river and pool. I would love to return sometime for an extended stay.Recommended for: Families with young children

I was in town for the World Poker Tour event at the Hard Rock and since they do not take care of the poker players the way every other venue that holds a main televised event does I decided to make it more of a vacation and stay at the beach. Turned out to be a great decision, the Pelican is a 4 Star Resort with 4 Star Service, which is given to all visitors not just those that book through the resort. The room was wonderfull with great views of the ocean and pool area with a nice little deck. There is a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker and hair dryer. The owner could not have been nicer, with great communication and help with any questions we had about the unit or the resort. For you casino players or poker players it's directly on the ocean about 25 minuets to the Hard Rock and about 15 to either The Isle in Pompano or Gulfstream in Hollandale. I recommend it to all exspecially if you are traveling with your better half or family.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

My husband and I stayed at the Pelican Grand this past February and had an absolutely wonderful vacation. The hotel is beautiful and was everything we hoped for from the gorgeous front balcony overlooking the ocean to the pool, lazy river, and bar area. The wait staff caters to you even while sunning on the beach or at the pool. We felt completely pampered. The room was also great! The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is very large and felt lke home. We also enjoyed having the privacy of our own balcony with a spectacular view. We've stayed in Ft. Lauderdale beach area several times, and Pelican Resort is most definitely the BEST hotel we've been to. Many thanks to the owner for sharing her wonderful vacation spot at such a great price! We had a very romantic and relaxing week and look forward to returning.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thanks for such a wonderful place to rest and relax!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

This room had a very comfortable king size bed, good shower and bath (nothing extraordinary from a standard clean hotel), a small refrigerator for keeping food and drinks cold, and a small microwave for heating popcorn and other small meals or snacks. The room also had a wired internet connection but the ethernet cable was short. Bring your own long ethernet cable if you want the connection to reach the bed or other areas of the room. Sorry, no wireless. The balcony accommodated (2) and had a fantastic view including everything from the pool, lazy river, and the beach of course. Although the balcony was small we really enjoyed it. The resort was very clean and nice. The private beach had a great staff which provided chaise lounges, towels, and umbrellas. One of the best things that we enjoyed about the resort was that it was completely non-smoking. Overall we'd rate our stay as good.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

We loved our stay at the Pelican Grand. The unit was very nice & the bed comfortable. Excellent free internet connection. The Resort is very inviting. We had great service. The location is just perfect. Directly on the beach. Chairs, umbrellas & towels were provided. The restaurant, although a bit pricey, was excellent. Make sure you try the ice creal parlor :-). We didn't have a car so didn't have to worry about parking. You can find good restaurants (Greek Islands, Lucca & Blue Jeans Blues) & a Walgreen at about 15-20 min walk North of the Resort. We loved our stay & would definitly consider staying here again the next time we're in Fort Lauderdale. We needed to contact the owner during our stay for a minor issue. She was easy to contact & was very helpful & prompt in helping us resolved the issue. All the staff made us feel welcomed although we were using an owner owned unit. I highly recommend this place.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

The Pelican Grand is located on a beautiful beach a mile and a half north of the Las Olas Zone of Ft. Lauderdale. Lovely sunrises and moon rises from the balcony or veranda. Pool and lazy river are great and drinks on the veranda at Happy Hour are fun.The owner is friendly and easy to deal with. All was as described in the listing and photos. The room is spacious, excellent bath and comfortable bed. A small desk and wired internet. Resort still has older TVs but beach, overall location, value (beach chairs and umbrellas included), and ease of dealing with the owner make this a 5 star.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

My husband and I stayed at the Pelican Grand for about a week in January. We had a great time. The setting is very pretty and right on the beach. The room has a really nice view of the pool area and beach. We loved the lazy pool! It was my first time renting a vacation rental through this type of website and I was a little nervous at first. However, the owner was very professional and all the details were as described. I would definitely book through the owner again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway

Everything at Pelican was as expected. Location is fantastic and all amenities were provided as described. We really enjoyed the Lazy River -the girls, ages 11 thru 14, spent a lot of time floating around together even though the weather didn't cooperate. Parking is expensive but very convenient and worth it. Food is good but don't order the specialty drinks-there are no prices on the menu.Recommended for: Families with young children

Beautiful Beach!! We were so glad to stay at the Pelican Grand! The entire resort is a nice place that isn't to "beachy". My husband and I spent the majority of our time right on the beach! Our room was clean and fresh!!! The resort was helpful and the valet service, though not cheap, was very efficient! We hope to visit again!!! Also, the owner was very helpful in helping me decide on things like where to eat .... :))Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My house and office are both within a mile of the Pelican, and I have reccomended the resort to several out-of-town guests in the past. We took a back-to-school staycation here last week and had a great time. The Pelican is one of the best hotels in Ft.Lauderdale, the building and staff are fantastic. There are not many oceanfront resorts where you can access the beach without crossing A1A anymore, and the Pelican is the newset and nicest any. The pool area and lazy river are great for the kids, the happy hour specials bring in the locals and tourists alike, and the rocking chairs on the back porch with the sound of the waves to lull you away..just a fantastic place. Owner is very easy to work with, and you save alot of money off the book rates. Highly recommended for any trip to South Florida.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We highly recommend staying here! We went for our 10th wedding anniversary and loved the resort! The place is beautiful, service was outstanding, and it is located near everything. The room is clean and spacious and the views off the balcony are gorgeous. The lazy river was so much fun. We are looking forward to returning!Did you find this review helpful?
