Every year we gather with my family for a long Thanksgiving visit to my mother In Abingdon. We always rent 3 or 4 hotel rooms when we are there and decided this year to try something different. At first glance we thought the rate to stay at Maple Spring was too much. After thinking about it we decided it would be a much better deal for7 people than it would be to rent the small hotel rooms. What a GREAT decision we made. The place was amazing. Very spacious with room to spread out while we could still enjoy each others company. We enjoyed our stay so much we have already reserved a week in the spring for our next visit. It truly an excellent value for all of the amenities. Large beautifully decorated rooms, fully equipped kitchen, exceptional bathrooms with lots of large fluffy towels. Plenty of outdoor sitting areas which all offer beautiful views of the countryside. The grandchildren also enjoyed playing in the large yard. We were also concerned because a prior review had commented that cell and internet service were an issue. No problems here. We all have cell phones from different providers and had absolutely no problems. Were able to have full phone and internet use from anywhere on the property. No more tiny hotel rooms for us! We have found our home away from home. A good deal for the money. Would recommend this place to anyone.

My family recently stayed at Maple Spring during optimum "leaf season" and had a wonderful time. It was gorgeous! The home is beautifully furnished with a fully equipped kitchen. The master bedroom is amazing. (My extended family also appreciated the three bathrooms.) My two little grandsons loved running around the big front yard and watching the horses in the nearby pasture. My husband and sons-in-law biked the Creeper Trail while my daughters & I explored all the antique shops in Abingdon (and each bought fun things!) We loved the Barter Theatre performance and the nearby Apple Festival in Meadowview. We were worried at first that Maple Springs is a few miles out of town, but we enjoyed the peaceful setting so much and the drive wasn't a problem. Would recommend Babycakes for lunch and Harvest Table at Meadowview also. Very good! We tried to go to The Tavern and Peppermill in Abingdon, but we needed dinner reservations. They both looked really good! The only big negative was that our AT&T cell phones had no service at the house. (Actually, if you walked outside the front door, we got some spotty service sometimes.) Also, there is no Internet access. But overall, we would highly recommend Maple Springs, and would go again in a heartbeat!

The house was close enough to town to be convenient but far enough to be quiet with room to spread out . An interesting mix of modern amenities with collectibles and antiques in a very clean and tasteful way. Reiterating what I read before choosing, the photos do not do it justice.

This home is the most comfortable, quiet and serene setting I have visited and I have been in many. The furnishings are perfect, the rooms exquisite. I will return again and again. Everything was done to make my visit perfect.

This is a beautiful farmhouse that has been immaculately restored. If you love clean, you will not be disappointed! The upstairs bathrooms are a special treat with premium showers and tubs. The king bed in the master bedroom was great--even had an extra feather bed over the mattress. We were there during the Olympics, so we enjoyed being able to watch them from the large tv in the bedroom. This was a quiet retreat. I wish we had been able to stay at the house more! We rode the Creeper Trail from Damascus to Abingdon. We were fortunate enough to be in town during a festival, so we enjoyed unique shopping and historic walking tour. Don't miss dinner at The Tavern and milkshakes at Ellis Soda Shoppe! If you like quaint towns, this is a "must-visit" town. And if you prefer your own retreat, Maple Springs is a great choice.

I could not wait to write a review about my stay at the Maple Springs Inn! I was concerned that it was going to be far out away from town, but it was a short 3.5 mile drive. The peace and quiet was AMAZING! There is not one thing that is missing in this house, really, not kidding! Salt/pepper/spices, yep they are there, (above the stove), toilet paper, paper towels, zip lock bags, garbage bags, mixing bowls (more than one or two like most rentals!)...and the bathrooms are beyond fantastic!!! My stay was for more than a week because of work in the area and I can tell you, it felt like home!!! Thanks Donna, you made an extended trip away from home much more bearable!!! This place is fantastic and the pictures do not do it justice!!!

This is my frst experience using VRBO. What a delight. This property was even better than reflected by the description and photos. The owner has done an exceptional job with the resotration and decorating. No expenses have been spared to make this a pleasant and desireable destination. Love the private country setting. Very quiet and peaceful. This place offers the best of both worlds, a country setting while being only 5 minutes from the center of Downtown Abingdon. While we were here we enjoyed the Virginia Creeper Trail. The 18 mile ride down from Whitetop to Damascus offered an easy pleasurable bike ride with breathtaking scenery. The next day of our visit we explored the numerous antique shops lining main street, the farmers market and of course the Barter Theater. Will be back for another visit to the area and Maple Spring as soon as we can.

Excellent, gets 5 stars from us! Even better than we expected. The accomodations were outstanding. We were fortunate enough to choose a prefect week for a fall get away. The fall colors were in their full splendor during our visit. The stately maple trees on the property were all aglow with brilliant yellow foliage. We try to make an annual visit to the Abingdon area to enjoy the Creeper Trail for a scenic and relaxing get away. This was our first year to visit in the fall. We are sure to make a repeat visit during this time and stay at Maple Spring Inn. After a full day of exploring it was a pleasure to return "home" to Maple Spring, the perfect spot to wind down. We enjoyed relaxing evenings viewing the wlidlife. One evening we counted thirteen deer grazing on the property. My wife especially enjoyed the luxurious bathrooms with jet tubs and claw foot soaking tub. We were sorry to see our time at Maple Spring come to an end so quickly. Cant wait until our next visit.

What a great place for rest, relaxation and reacquainting with family. My family is spread out from the East Coast to the West Coast. This year we chose Abingdon, VA for a meeting place. After reading about the Virginia Creeper Trail, Iron Mointain Trail and of Course the Appalachian Trail we decided to check it out. Maple Spring is located only minutes from everywhere we wanted to be. Maple Spring provided the perfect get away for us. The adults enjoyed the outdoor sitting areas while the children frolicked in the stream, played in the large yard and hiked on the acreage. The owners of this property thought of everything. There was even a room perfect for the children. Equipped with their own Tv, Wii with many games, toys and videos. The children enjoyed it so much they did not want to leave the property when it was time to go enjoy the other local attractions. The property is in a great location just minutes from downtown shopping and dining as well as being within easy driving distance for day trips. While we were here we visited the Biltmore in Asheville, NC, Dollywood in Pigeon Forge TN and the lovely state park in Marion, Va, Hungry Mother Park. The week passed by way too quickly. A great time was had by all.

Thank you Donna. Wow!!! You did an unbelieveable job with the renovations. This was our first visit to the Abingdon area and what a pleasure it has been. My family and I felt right at home at Maple Spring Inn. Everything we needed was provided. We enjoyed using our cooking skills in the fully equipped kitchen. We especially enjoyed candlelight meals on the covered front porch. The fresh tomatoes from the garden on the property was a pleasant and unexpected addition to out meals. We would recommend Maple Spring to anyone. Will be back. Save a week for us next year.

About the owner: I have been a Realtor in the Abingdon, Washington county area since 1991. Have always enjoyed seeing the before and after when renovating old structures. This particular property, Maple Spring Inn is special to me. The property was originally an 80 acre parcel which my grandparents purchased in 1942. At this point the Maple Spring Inn is located on a 21 acre parcel of the original farm. After seeing the house sit empty and uncared for for over 20 years I decided to renovate. And what a renovation it was. With an exceptional team of contractors it took about two years to complete the renovations. The after results are stunning. Come see for yourself!

                      Why the Owner Chose Abingdon:
This property is located only minutes from downtown historical Abingdon, VA. Located 30 minutes from the Bristol Race Track, 45 minutes from Tri-Cities airport. Its close proximity to the Barter Theater, Virginia Creeper Trail, Appalachian Trail, Holston River, South Holston Lake make it a desirable destination. You are sure to find the the peaceful, private setting relaxing and enjoyable.

The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
While visiting the Maple Spring you will be awarded with magnificent sunsets followed by an evening of star gazing. Living in town I am amazed at the evening sky when I visit Maple Spring. From the large rocking chair porch you will have an unspoiled view of the beautiful country side. Sit on the porch long enough and you are sure to enjoy the abundant wildlife and array of colorful birds.
