We love the windward side of Oahu, and this beautiful tropical cottage comes with all the amenities of home. It is a short drive to Kailua beach which is spectacular, and has about a million less people than Waikiki! There is a grocery store within 5 minutes away, plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby, and an easy drive to the north Shore . We loved having the space and comfort, our teenage boys each had a comfortable place to sleep, one on the futon and one on a bed, and my husband and I had our own space as well. Having the laundry facilities was awesome, we were able to pack less clothing and to clean and dry our beach clothes. Waking up in the rainforest to the symphony of birds was a true delight. Can't wait to return, finally a month after returning home to cold and snowy Canada, my Hawaii blues have gone away, and I look forward to going back. Thanks Sandie, we appreciated your warm welcome so much! Everything was here for a "true Hawaii " experience! .... PS....if you are looking for the non stop party and gong show of Waikiki.. This is NOT your place!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This cottage was what every VRBO listing should be. The cottage looked exactly like the photos. The hosts were more than gracious, and anticipated our needs (e.g., umbrellas by the door for those Hawaiian rains). We had the best vacation we've had in years and didn't want to leave. Thank you, Sandie, Bob and ohana, for a wonderful time. We're already planning our next visit!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The lodging was the best part of the vacation. The cottage is big, with plenty of room for my one year old boy and four year old girl to stretch their legs on a rainy day, and the manicured acre lot with lush foliage, playscape and plenty of running room was truly enjoyed by my children. The cottage has a full kitchen with cooking utensils, that allowed us to make most meals at home. There were beautiful mountain views from the bedrooms, living room and patio. Since I am the one doing the wash, the full laundry room made my life easier, since going to the beach every day sure creates a lot of dirty clothes. Bob and Sandie were great hosts. There are three recommendations that I have. One is that the cottage if fully loaded with supplies, and that an inventory should be performed before shopping for new supplies. The second is that the bedrooms do not have doors and the bedroom's walls do not extend to the ceiling, which worked for us but may be an issue for vacationers that want more privacy. The third is that as of our departure date 3/4/13, the pictures on the site are no longer accurate. They have added a big covered patio with tables, chairs and a propane grill which is bordered by a tall privacy jungle area. While I like my residence more, the cottage is a place that me and my family could spend a lot of time at, with out getting home sick.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Just wanted to put in a good review for this cottage. A couple of us girls just stayed thier a week ago. Had an amazing stay. It was quiet and relaxing. Would recommend it to all. Plus, it is on one of the most beautiful parts of Oahu. The listing pictures give an accurate reflection of the cottage and it was very clean. The owner was helpful and provided privacy. A few of the attractions we visitied were whale watching at a scenic stop, nearby beaches along the North Shore, Pipeline to watch local surfers, and hiked to the lighthouse. So much to do. Great experience.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We loved waking up each and every day in our very own beautiful garden retreat to the sounds of the wind in the palms and the soft sounds of the birds in all of the beautiful trees. And we just as much looked forward to returning to the cottage's comforts after a long day beaching, shopping or sight seeing. Being on a dead end street means it's uber quiet and pieceful-no traffic noises and no street lamps. Sleeping with the only light being the stars above the mountain-priceless! Sandi & Bob have created just the perfect retreat from the hectic pace of every day life and a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beauty of windward Oahu while at the same time feeling close enough to shopping, beaches and dining out when desired. We truly treasured our time there and the wonderful memories we brought home with us. Thank you thank you and thank you for the perfect respite and wonderful vacation home!!! The cottage is remarkable, as is the location. I'm a big fan of the Ko'olau mountains, and this place is situated right at their foot, with views to die for. It's quiet and very private (if you don't mind an occasional visit from a grandson!), and has all the amenities you'd need. We loved Mike's Kiawe Huli Huli Grill just down the road, and the availability of supermarkets is great. Bob and Sandie are friendly and helpful. Just one note - the next door neighbor plays bongos to reggae music for about an hour after work every day...the only non-natural sound we heard. Even so, this place is highly recommended.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Sandie and Bob's guest house. It is located north of the town of Kaneohe in what I would call a suburb of a middle-sized town. The guest house is quite large and is above Bob's cabinet making shop. (The slight noise from the shop was not a problem.) The house is on an incline, and there are no stairs to get into the house. The place is very, very nice, with a huge, modern kitchen/dining/living area. There are stainless appliances but no dishwasher. We enjoyed cooking fish on the outside gas grill. (Bob can direct you to the home of a local fisherman to purchase really fresh ahi.) The guest house has a large TV and sound system with a big selection of CDs. Furniture is modern and comfy. The room has two partial walls that divide off space for two bedroom areas. Both bedroom spaces have very comfortable beds, and there also is a futon in one of the bedroom areas. Because the spaces are divided off by partial walls that don't go up to the ceiling, this rental is best for a couple or individuals who don't need privacy from their fellow travelers. Stacks of extra towels and sheets are available, and the unit includes a high efficiency washer and dryer in an area right off one of the bedrooms. The neighborhood seemed extremely safe, and there is plenty of outdoor space for children to play. Sandie left a pineapple and bag of coffee for us, which were welcome treats. The yard is beautifully landscaped, and there is off-street parking. The property is about 25 minutes from the HNL airport. I highly recommend it as a base for exploring the Honolulu area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I were absolutely thrilled with this perfect tropical escape in East Oahu! The owners were so incredibly friendly and allowed us to make ourselves feel at home. The property is separate from the house and very private, yet the owners are happy to share their knowledge of the area if interested. The place is very big, open, and gets cross-breezes throughout the whole house. It was great to fall asleep and wake up while listening to the winds through the surrounding tropical plants. You will need a car if you stay here, as there are great places nearby, including a Macadamia Nut Farm, Valley of the Temples, Kaneohe (shopping, groceries, restaurants), and Kailua Beach Park. It was the perfect location, and I would love to stay here again on our next visit!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
