Enjoy the sunset over Humboldt Bay from the deck of this newly restored Craftsman home. The house sits on a secluded one half acre overlooking Arcata, the bay, and the distant ocean. Large windows bring in light and views from all directions. The house was lovingly crafted in 1907 with the finest redwood available. Simple turn of the century woodwork details enhance this elegant farmhouse. The living room looks out at the redwood trees along the creek in the valley below the house.
The kitchen is fully equipped, and features Victorian cabinetry. Each bedroom has a queen bed with ultra soft bedding and cozy comforters. The bathroom has the original claw foot bath tub. The game room has a fold out pad for extra guests, and there is also a queen futon sofa in the living room.
The "detached unit" is a cabin with another bedroom, with a queen bed, lots of windows, and a deck overlooking the Arcata area.
The property is a short walk from downtown Arcata and the Humboldt State University campus.

Our 70 year old parents, my sister, my wife and our two under 3 year old children took over this house for a great weekend to celebrate the graduation of our youngest sister from nearby HSU. We cooked elaborate family meals, watched deer in the yard, enjoyed view and conversation on the deck and had an overall wonderful time. A short walk to the redwoods or town granted us walks in this lovely neighborhood. Besides occasional ants, the full kitchen and laundry room made this easy vacationing. This family would highly recommend this house to anyone going to be in the neighborhood.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My husband, 80 year-old father, and 16 year-old son had a lovely three-day stay on a college visit to HSU. Walking distance to campus and town, beautifully kept up, lovely original art on the walls, and spacious enough for all of us. Very quiet section of town with a lovely view - if my son ends up at HSU, we'll be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We just got in earlier today and this house is pretty impressive. The inside is very nice. They renovated this house beautifully while keeping its original charm. The view over the redwoods and bay are amazing. Location is central to everywhere we like to go. We travel a lot between Trinidad and Eureka, plus all the beautiful touristy sites. Met the neighbors earlier today and they are very friendly. I highly recommend this house to anyone from families to a friends' get-togethers and couples looking for some privacy.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
