As a native San Diegan, I have been coming to Julian as a favorite getaway since I was a child. After I left teaching, I decided I would buy property in Julian and when I found this cute little modified A-frame I knew that this was the place. I love the knotty pine interior walls and quaint country kitchen. One of the features of this cottage, which was one of the reasons I chose it, is the wrap around deck where people can sit and read, bird watch, or eat their meals. Whenever I stay there I immediately relax and unwind. I just love Julian and the people who live there.

This was the first time that my husband and I had ever rented an entire house while on vacation, and we loved it! The house was clean and well kept, and everything you could possibly need was tucked away in the cupboards (silverware, linens, even some decent DVDs to watch, etc). I specifically wanted a rental that had a more rustic feel, and with the pine walls, the cabin definitely had that feel without coming off as hokey or dated. It did get a little cold one of the nights, but there were plenty of space heaters, and tons of wood for the stove. The location is perfect -- only a couple of minutes from downtown Julian. The neighbors are far enough away to make it feel secluded and private. The only downside is that there was no wi-fi. There is broadband, but if you don't have an ethernet connection, then you're out of luck. We did find wi-fi at the coffee shop, so all was not lost. We had a lovely stay, and would definitely do it again!
Owner response:I'm so glad that you had an enjoyable stay at my Cozy Hideaway vacation rental. I have tried to supply what I think any vacationer would need while spending a weekend in rustic Julian. I hope you will return again and sample the many restaurants and attend all the different ever-changing events that are going on in Julian. There are so many things to do and places to visit that one weekend just isn't enough time to take it all in. Thank you for you comments.

I really enjoyed staying here. A few of us went up for a "girl's weekend" and as soon as we walked in the door, we felt at home. Very thoughtful and caring preparation went into all the little details, from the fully-stocked wood pile for the fireplace, to the heaters being turned on prior to our arrival. The cute loft upstairs had four beds, making it feel like a "slumber party", and the bedroom below had an amazingly comfortable king-size bed, covered in cozy flannel sheets and an electric blanket. There was even a wall-heater in the bathroom downstairs...perfect for getting out of your toasty shower on those cold nights! We went during December, and though the snow hadn't yet fallen outside in Julian, it felt like a cozy Christmas cabin inside, as there was a small prelit x-mas tree in the living room. Very cute. Everything was there from sheets, towels, dishes, and trashbags, to magazines, scented candles, and a few snacks. There WAS an assortment of granola bars, oatmeal packets, hot chocolate, bottled water, and apple cider waiting for us in the kitchen. The only thing guests need to bring are their clothes, food, and drinks. Overall, the stay was very awesome, and we had a load of fun. Right off the 78 and 79, it's a perfect little getaway, with the amazing little town of Julian just a four-minute drive away...I would definitely do this again next year with my friends/family.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm glad you and your friends had a good time. I know this was your second visit to my Cozy Hideaway and I hope you will return again soon. Sunny

I've used VRBO throughout the state of CA and this property lived up to VRBO's great reputation. The house is clean, spacious, and affordable. The design of the house is reminiscent of homes I've seen in the midwest. It has a cozy, country feel to it. It was obvious the owner took the time to add special touches to the home to make us comfortable. The house is very conveniently located near the main street of Julian. The owner was very helpful in making suggestions for places to eat and visit. I would recommend this place to anyone I know, be it families, couples, or friends!
